  • coria had the best feet in the game, a natural on clay.

  • Coria had a height disadvantage in the game of tennis. His height is 5' 7" or 175cm. He did really good considering that.

  • The only reason Nadal is a good matchup for roger is that Nadal has an incredible spin on his shots which he often aims at roger's backhand. Now it's tough for a 1 hander to hit a backhand that is up to his head. This is the pattern.

    To Roger's backhand

    backhand

    backhand (lands short)

    Nadal's forehand down the line.

It also doesn't help that most of their meetings are on clay.

  • Good old Roger back in the days, looking badass and playing badassly.

  • @Rodjeurs yeh he was much faster here too. he still beats djokovic now i personally think this rog would destroy now djokovic. people forget hes 6 years older than djoko. thats a big difference in tennis

  • @AceGuitarR7 Unlikely. Peak-Federer would match up well, evenly with Peak-Djokovic, especially on clay and grass. But djokovic has a natural edge over Federer--the two-handed backhand. Even when he was a teenager, Nadal could beat Federer on hard courts. That's largely because Nadal had a two-handed backhand. Nadal and djokovic can both, therefore, frickin crush the ball more consistently. Fed's brilliant, but he can't always keep up with the pace they generate, not with one hand on the backhand

  • @whatubeaccount1 Nadal dominates Federer most of the time because he's a lefty with an insane lift... Hewitt, Agassi, Safin, Roddick, Ferrero, Ferrer, Davydenko or Nalbandian have two handed backhands but Federer has winning records against them. In fact, he still has a winning record against Djokovic too...(14-10)

  • @Eternalover78 you forgot to mention everybody in the men's game, practically. and you're right, fed has a very good record against most everybody, even the guys who play with two hands (they're everybody). but that does not change this fact: at the end of a long match, a guy with a two-hander has the edge regardless of what his dominant hand is. it's just easier to find the court. that's why borg dominated in his day, and connors too. they revolutionized the game, in fact.

  • @whatubeaccount1 What? You gotta be kidding me. Nadal beats Federer because of his two-handed backhand? Rofl, where did you learn that? Nadal's two-handed backhand is mediocre, I could name countless players with better two-handed backhands.

Just because of one season where Djokovic played well against an aging Federer who is nowhere as good as he was in 2004-2007, you think he would match up well against peak-Federer? It was Federer who last beat Djokovic prior to the streak and who ended it.

  • @AllGenreMusic you're not too open-minded, are you? nadal and djokovic have won more money than any men (or women) who have ever used two-handed backhands, (even adjusted for inflation). that's arguably the best measure of success, technique, perseverance, skill, etc. and you'd know that if you were a touring pro or if you didn't really, really like roger. which is okay but a little creepy (and probably won't get you a girlfriend). watch the ao this year and try rofling

  • @whatubeaccount1 What does them earning money have anything to do with Nadal's backhand? Nadal's backhand is one of the main reasons Rafael is not winning slams at the moment. His backhand is utter shit when compared to someone who actually has a strong backhand like Djokovic. So going by your logic, since Federer has earned the most money, he must have the best one-handed topspin backhand right? Fuck all past champs like Lendl, Edberg, Rafter, Gaudio, Kuerten who had better one-handers.

  • @whatubeaccount1 u forget Federer has a slice that is reliable against Djokovic. He don't need to hit thru every bh to give Djoko momentum. Djoko's 2 handed backhand isn't going to generate top spin easily to cross the net so he'll hit carefully avoiding errors thus giving Federer options to hurt him. I'll say prime Fed wins 65-70% of the matches against prime Djokovic cuz of this. The rest depends on whether Fed hit well on his forehand. Prime fed against young Djokovic is like 6-1 in 2007.

  • @youziness You're right that the slice is a factor, but perhaps just on clay these days. On a fast court djokovic has got the edge regardless. Forehand to forehand they're close to evenly matched (however, I'm getting convinced that djok's got the overall advantage there, too) but backhand to backhand it's no contest, and all the pros and pundits seem to swear by that fact these days. as they should, nadal and djokovic are beating him very consistently, even if he is past it.

  • @whatubeaccount1 ... Stop being delusional. Forehand and forehand they have completely different mindsets which is impossible to compare. Djokovic certainly does not play as flat as Federer's forehand nowhere as much. Their last to matches consisted of Federer winning in Roland Garros and Djokovic needing to save 2 match points in New York, and that is now suddenly considered consistently beating? Consistently beating is what Djokovic is doing to Nadal.

  • @whatubeaccount1 He has good offense in his backhand dosen't mean Federer/Murray can't attack it and cause errors, only Nadal can't do it. His backhand is vulnerable to flat and slice. Djoko only has advantage on high bouncing slow courts which is the case today and he's still difficult against this Fed. On fast indoor is no argument when the ball skids. Against prime Fed his best chance is AO. Put Nad/Djo on fast courts and tsong/berdych beat them. Today clay tennis dominate cuz of the courts.
