@CBRHurricane6 No, this one is a clone that was built to movie car specs save for the engine. this ones about 500 HP. It has almost everything including the remote start, rev feature, radio on remote, and headlights on remote that the movie car had.
@6869505 thats cool......it coulda passed for an actual movie car....even finding one of those running period is cool enough.....wicked cool man, love that car
@6869505 I'm pretty sure the Christine car did not have Flowmasters. Flowmaster was established the very same year as Christine was released. Also, the sound is not the same.
Well, Martin Sanchez owns one of the remaining Three movie cars and was purchased in 1984 with Flowmasters on it..So, they had flowmaster mufflers. You cannot try and duplicate the "Movie Sound" as no one really knows what the heel was used to create the "Engine reving" sounds...
6869505@ thanks man for replying im puting a 1966 chrysler imperial 440 in my 57 belv 2dr sedan .....technicaly the same motor ... sweet hope mine will preform as good as yours {oo)==v==(oo}
392 Hemi was technically a small block...(Distributor in the back)..The only Big Block Hemi was the famous 426 Hemi. This car has the 440 Super Commando engine with twin Carter AFB's, and a Torqueflite trans.
@6869505 the 392 was like a polyshere not a small block at all the dizzy location has nothing to do with the block being big or small the 392 isnt like a 318 or 273 or 340
@teamsterjeffrey The 392 Hemi uses Small block T-chain, Oil pump, Distributor, and some lower end bearings...Yes, the 392 is technically considered a "Small block", or "Baby" Hemi for these reasons. Also, the poly engines shared the same bore spacing and cranks as the small blocks. Therefore, the only Big Block based "Hemi" engine from Chrysler was the famous 426.
Poor management with the Color department back then with these cars only coming in 2 shades of Color Buckskin Beige and Cream with gold trim other Cars like Dodge was in other Colors so why can't the Fury be shot in different colors like in Special order I bet they would if a customer with a large wallet wants it.
Yes, this car has the big block that the "Real" movie car had. The poly engine was for the lesser models in 1958..Like the 4dr Hdtop for example. Thanks for all the reply's folks. Glad to see you enjoy'd the video. Looking to make another when The CCC does Carlisle this year with John Schneider (Bo Duke) Driving MY General Lee!
Sadly, Christine won't be able to attend this year...Updates to come...Stay tuned!
The last pass starting from a distance was my favorite....Man that sounds awesome. My nuts swelled so big I split my pants! ;-) Really awesome sound...a true monster. I am envious.
Oh. So it is a 3-speed automatic in this video? That's what threw me. Probably to handle the greater power, then?
Was the transmission in use here an after-market switch you did? I wasn't aware that the Plymouths from that time period had anything other than 2-speeds.
@BlindDogFulton The 1956 Plymouth fury was the beginnings of the famous Torqueflite 3 speed trans..Albeit, a CAST iron unit until 1962, the running gear that's in this car is all out of a RoadRunner. 440-727-83/4 rear (500 HP). ...The Pushbuttons seem to be a hit with the crouds, so , I simply hooked up Via cable shift from a later model Olds FWD car and the cars shifter is on the heater slide selector...Warm is park, and cold is Low 1...
@BlindDogFulton he does't change gear at 12 seconds it is just the end of the burnout so the camera mic didn't catch right away but it sound like it but I can see where you are coming from... btw he does change gear at 16 sec though
@gunny556fly I got news, "Christine" Was NOT a "Real" Fury in the movie...She more resembled a Belvedere.
Bout the only thing "Fury" on "Christine" was the engine....Even the paint was incorrect for a "Real " Fury. "Real" Fury's were only available in ONE COLOR in 1956-1958..."Buckskin Beige", or Cream colored, with GOLD side trim accents. "Christine" was called a "Fury" because it just wouldn't have sounded very minessing if she was the baddest, meanest, most evil, "Belvedere" on the block.
@SpeederFast Yes, but the car is done up like the movie..NOT the book..In the book, IIRC, it was a four door, with a "Hydromatic" trans that we all know only came in GM products, with 4WD...King knew NOTHING bout cars. There was NO WAY you could even "Special order" a 1958 Fury in Red and White back in '58..Couldn't be done. Believeing what Hollywood depicts as truth is like believing Vin Diesel actually can drive.
@6869505 Man, Christine is possesed car and drives around on her own, killing people, and repairing herself, and you find it weird that she's in a color that was not availible for Furies... looks like where you live, possesed cars driving on their own are quite commonplace, eh? (If yes, I'm moving there)
Awesome Man!!......please post another vid when you get her back from the paint shop, and let us know how you got her after 33 years and all you have done for her.
YES it WAS hard to recreate the sound from the movie, but the CCC (Christine Car Club has the two remaining movie cars that survived and I talked with Bill and Martin..Togther, we got the "Secret" sound down for Christine...
No, contrary to popular belief, Christine had a big block Chrysler V8 wedge in her in ALL scenes. The Belvedere DID come with the OPTIONAL 350 Golden Commando engine. This car has a 440 Wedge engine, dressed to look like the 350 Golden Commando. It DID come factory with a 318 though.
Dude just stand in front of it and say SHOW ME!!Believe me itll be good as new!!!!!:)

I love this car. But this one sounds like a manual! It sounds like you shift at :12 sec, and then again at :16.
I thought those 2 speed hydramatics did not shift until the 60-70 mph range from first to second when floored.
Is this just a three-on-the-tree model?
BlindDogFulton 1 year ago
@BlindDogFulton No, it's a later model Torqueflite 727 trans in it with the 440..
It may have sounded that way cause I have to back off it too help with traction...
