  • only knew the motorhead version. the who did a great job too.

  • @pictureisup1 Do they fuck!!! Put that crack pipe down, think about what you've just said and give yourself a fucking slap!

  • @MintyModF1 What Fuck are you talking about! Think about what you said and give yourself a slap.

  • Motorhead version is nicest, heavy tune goes along nicely...

  • nice.. i didn't even know this was a cover.. i thought this was an original pearl jam song... nice to hear the original... a bit slower than the pearl jam cover, but still awesome...

  • @nypj This version is a cover also. Eddie Holland recorded the original version

  • @nypj You're really a clueless fucking twat.

  • @ecnalubma696969 WTF? why the hostility?

  • The Motorhead version of this is just as great

  • My favorite version of this would have to be the one on the bbc sessions.

  • I gotta vote with the late '64 High Numbers/Who Shel Talmy version!

  • YEAH!!! the who is to good for the world!! :)

  • I've been thinkin' that all my life, bro. :)

  • Pearl Jam has a good virsion of this

  • agreed

  • 1964 recording?

  • Yes, the original High Numbers recording, I believe.

The box set version is mislabeled as the High Numbers, but it's actually the Shel Talmy produced early 1965 Who version.

  • Actually it's by Edward Holland, he wrote it in 1963

  • Irrelevant. That's the original recording.

It was written by Holland Dozier Holland....as in Eddie Holland.

I was just talking about the two different Who/High Numbers versions found on their various compliation albums.

  • @waarde2 no it is Eddie Holland, he was Edward only as a writer, when he released records he was just Eddie

  • original by the greenhornes or the who?? pearl jam also covers it...

  • eddie holland did the original

  • Hawkwind/Mötorhead did a good version of this. Shouldn't miss that one.

  • I like the version when the who were the high numbers.

  • im really fuckin high right now

  • hell yeah, man!

  • i like this a lot lol.

  • did they write this song r cover it as well?

  • cover

  • who did the original?

  • Eddie Holland!!

  • This is actually a Holland-Dozier-Holland song from the very early sixties. Dunno if anyone on Motown ever recorded it, but the earliest version I know of is by Jimmy Hanna and the Dynamics from Seattle---it was a big regional hit on Seafair/Bolo records, and it rocks! It was covered for years by local PNW bands, and is certainly the reason it ended up on a Pearl Jam record.

  • it was also covered by the birds.

  • The original version by Eddie Holland for Motown can be found on here.

  • Eddie Holland did this originally ('63-64???)

  • I guess there are several editions of Odds and Sods in circulation. This isn´t on my version.I don´t mean cd´s but vinyl

  • This version is being added to Rock Band along with a BUNCH of great Who songs.

  • not bad!!good outtake!Daltery sounds hoarse!!!

  • I bet hes hung like a horse

  • where's this version frm btw???

it sounds a bit like the BBC Sessions thing but...

    either way, it's a KILLER!!!

  • It's from Odds & Sods.

  • doesn't the album cover make it obvious lol

  • my version of Odds an Sods has a DIFFERENT version of this track! :(

    thats why I asked ;D

  • @theseeker23 It's also a song written in 1963 by Motown songwriters Holland–Dozier–Holland, who wrote a ton of hits for the R & B label in the 60's and 70's. Originally released as a single in December 1963 by H-D-H lyricist Eddie Holland. The Who were obviously influenced by the original Blues greats and Motown in their early days. "I'm The Face"? Based on the original Slim Harpo tune: "Got Love If You Want It". Both are on Youtube.

  • Excellent Who version.....of course!!
