  • amy goodman's bitch

  • " . . . for totalitarianism to occur, there must first exist a combination of bourgouisie political power lacking [a] sense of duty, a propaganda system reinforced by an arrogant intellectual community, & an alienated mass culture demanding "change". These elements were present in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century. Now, with the complicity of both political parties in the deconstruction of our culture, the stage appears to be set in America." ~ Samantha Power

  • Ladies and gentlemen, this is your American democracy at work...

  • POLICE = FASCISTS

  • How can I believe if you say you have brought DEMOCRACY to Iraq? AMERICA please stop destroying your reputation among non-Americans like us.... Very disappointed. Canada did a dirty job during the G20 summit... my god, Western countries are learning from the Chinese Communists today... God bless the humanity

  • america "land of freedom"???

  • police are doing a fuckin great job here...Thanks guys....

  • They are dong a great job at stomping on the first amendment aren't they?

  • Is this happening in Iran? Glad I live in America.

  • america needs to look at their own country before they even think of trying to better other countries

  • every year billions of dollars of American tax payers money goes to Israel!!!

    Did you know that?

  • police are scum. id fucking kill them.

  • the world is watching...

  • Is it possible to be neutral in this?

Obviously, the police were ignoring the screams "PRESS!!! PRESS!" (and beating up protesters, especially if they were nonviolent seems to elude the point of being a police officer), but the police were just doing their jobs... They do what it takes to keep the population "in line."

Quit complaining and deal with it: Journalism can be a dangerous job.

  • Can this really be happening?? How can it be continuing??? What tha FUCK are we doing?!

  • Ron Paul would never allow this to happen on his watch!

  • If I was this young girl, I'd sue the fucking city for every red cent they have. Then after I get my settlement, leave the United States of Aggression forever. Spit on the american flag to before I leave.

  • fuck tha police! buncha stupid fuckin nazis

  • no fuck you and crazy fucking liberals !1 id cut your fucking throat!!!

  • lol does anything really need to be said about this?

"fucking liberals...id cut ur throat.... "

qoutes like that makes me a liberal

  • *Sigh* you just don't get it do you.

  • Thats not an arrest thats an attack.

  • This is sickening! The people whom are paid to protect we the people are abusing their powers and acting as violent terrorists. This current administration want us scared and dumb and are doing everything they can to make us that way.

  • The police have always served the rich, anything else is just P.R. work. The fact is that the rich have a lot more enemies these days.

  • Charges Dropped she is now free to sue the fuck out of them. The city will settle cause they would never want a jury to see that video

  • so is this a beautiful piece of heroic propaganda, or what?

  • Not propaganda. An unfortunate truth.

  • This is the Grand White Party's America!

  • this is a police state dude

  • "GET ON YOUR FACE!!!"

The video shows clearly, in light of Salazar's innocence and heroic journalism, that it's a police-state, a fascist state, the election is an action, Obama is a puppet of the banks and ?Lehman bros? -did he comment on protests?

People don't like getting on their face to be dragged by brownshirts- as this is the US today, the US has ensured its demise as a political entity.

Pigs are state terrorists against the domestic population.

  • Wow. Is this in Russia or North Korea?

  • PRESS! PRESS!

  • brutal

  • she was video taping the event, and since faux noise was embedded with the riot police with THE VERY SAME CREDENTIALS why can she not be treated as respectfully?

    SHE'S WITH THE FREAKING PRESS!!!

i sure hope there are some lawsuits filed over this!!! amy goodman shoved ot the ground when she came to ask to be shown to a commander, and then had her credentials ripped from around her neck?

this is so wrong. so wrong. God BLESS AMERICA???

  • There is no freedom of the press in America

  • Nicole Salazar did not refuse to move, she was pressed up against cars asking where the police wanted her to go. She was not involved in the protest, she was videotaping it as part of the press, which is protected in the First Amendment "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press..."

  • Ah America...home to free speech and democracy!...is it? bollocks!

  • Terrorists! Terrorists paid for by... OUR TAX DOLLARS! How do you feel about funding terrorism? Better than you do about funding leeches???? WAKE UP!

  • hdskmb,

    True we are funding terrorists!

They are now attempting to fool the US public into

believing the corporate mission is one and the same

with the people (us).... who have been forced and

fooled into footing the fucking disgustingly

enormous bill!! (and we don't even get to be stockholders)

Palin is trying to fool the public into believing

that the Corporate mission is one and the same

    with "GOD"!!

  • Truth Removers Man Your Battlestations!!

The banners and signs are hurtful to the Furher! Seig Heil!

  • Hope you like the Police State formally known as the United States of America....

  • protesters are a vital part of why you are free to call people a dumbass online... what have you done to make this world a better place?

These journalists were abused and wrongfully arrested and I hope legal action is brought against the police department

  • #1 read the first amendment jackass

#2 I work my ass off and hate the income tax and I protest and I will never leach off the system

#3 I hope you get yours

  • Watch Zeitgeist man, the IRS is said to be unconstitutional, as says Ron Paul!

  • watch ring of power

  • mm14nysm hearts FAUX-Feeling-of-Superiority-NEWS .

  • Thank you for clearing that up for us Mr. Hannity.

  • Can someone post the unedited video of this please? I'd like to see what led up to the cops rushing the crowd like that.

  • Welcome to Police State America.

  • Few take action about injustices which affect people other than themselves. This is because the top priority of the SHEEPL is the TV and what is dictated on it. Concern for the plight of other people are low on the priority list, because That is what the TV Shows like FoxNews dictates...bigotry. When the day comes that the "FoxNews" fan suddenly wants to take some action, it will be too late. They will not be able to take action, because taking action is being criminalized at THIS VERY MOMENT

  • I sympathize with your views. Several times I was arrested in the 80"s and you no what good it did, not a damn thing. I was openly threatedned, almost lost my job and was not overly well liked by my community. I wanted nothing better than to get involved after Bush but with a chronically sick wife and a job to proted it is not easy. I have nothing but respect for the protesters that are still out there speaking their truth. I hope someday again to be right with them.

  • Back in the 1980s I participated in several non-violent civil disobedience actions protesting Reagan's South American wars and never never saw anything like this. There is so much fear and anger out there. I guess the terrorists really did win the terror war.

  • We walked our evac route on 8/29 in memorial of Katrina victims. About a hundred of us & were holding banners which clearly showed who we were. .. just walking together. We had children and elderly with us with us. Then we were surrounded by police cars maarked and unmarked. IF we don't surround and watch them at their headquarters with signs & banners reminding them of the constiturion and abuse of authotrity, It Will ALL Be Lost and The mission of the waar criminals will be accomplished.

  • Fight bullies with bullies.

The RNC agreed to pay the first $10,000,000 of lawsuits, which gave the police a false sense of security in their actions.

    If awards arising from:

    cruel and unusual punishment,

    injuries, police brutality

suppression of 1st and 5th amendment rights

    Interference with lawful assembly

    conspiracy to provoke a riot

...EXCEEDED $10 million, St. Paul pays. Maybe they should fire the city leaders who allowed this.

Bankrupt the city for allowing this.

  • Don't ever talk about Minnesota like that you piece of crap.

  • Better to Bankrupt St Paul than the Bill of Rights.

I wonder how many who endorse suspending the right to peaceful assembly feel there is no situation in which it is lawful to, say, suspend the right to bare arms.

    I thought so.

  • IF we don't complain now, soon the right to conplain about anything will be criminalized.

    Very soon.

Solidarity with the demonstrators who have suffered abuse.

    -Banners Kill Facists

  • Police stations everywhere should be circled by huge ongoing vigils, in exactly the same way they circle people working for improving life. Vigils with signs and banners should remind them what the constitution & abuse of authority means. NOT protecting war criminals! And this should show them a little how it feels to be surrounded as though criminals (only in THEIR case.. It's ture!). Guess since they can pre-empt OUR "crimes" We can and SHOULD PRE-EMPT THEIR CRIME.

  • Two weeks left to REGISTER to vote!!!!

    Power to the people!!!

  • veiwing anything supposedly "leftist", like people standing up to tyranny, or corporate law enforcement, makes me wonder how many people these right-wing think tanks have hired to flood comment boxes, in an impressive effort to make sure ignorant people stay dis-informed ;/

    all hail the reptile brain!

  • Funny how this video is only 19 seconds long. Makes me woder what she was doing before the video starts. Funny how alot assume that she was being perfectly behaved. What everyone needs to understand is that while you do have certain rights under the constitution, they are not boundless. Your rights end where the next persons begins. You can not have more rights than the next person. Seems like some people think they are better than others.

  • The irony is, you have no idea what preceded that 19 seconds of video, but you're presuming it was something through which she had forfeit her constitutional rights. So you're the one presuming you have more rights than she has.

  • This country really sucks.

  • The whole notion of democracy in the United States is as shown here is non existant and unfortunately it will not be the last violent arrest. They are being just as worst as China through putting people like this. Also the media is heavily controlled by cooperations who support and fund the Bush Administration. Everything has to be said "in favour of the goverment". Hypocrits!

  • Bush suspends rights, Dems complain. Shouldn't that have said Bush suspends rights. 50 million storm DC Ah I guess its a lot easier having a Latte and watching it all on CNN.

You want your rights back, Fight for them......

  • It's not like the press is mentioned in the first amendment of the constitution. - Oh wait .. damn it .. it is. Well, let's just screw the constitution - who needs it anyway

  • Oooo... Look at the big bad pigs, all suited up in their tactical riot gear, beating down innocent people executing their Constitutional Rights. The same rights these worthless pigs took an oath to defend. What a fucking sham! These rotten jack booted thugs need to be charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the REAL law. Then replaced with people who understand the oath they so solemnly swear to uphold.

  • it's stuff like this that people need to be more aware of.. the corruption and abuse that goes on by the authorities.

  • Brownshirts... this is how it begins...

  • This remind to the world the May 5th -Mac Arthur Park 2006- that we -the whole world- watched on TV.

  • there is not such thing as democracy, only the preception of being free in any respect.

like my username says, USA (gov and policies) is worse than hitler (his gov and policies)

  • this is NOT an example of democracy

it IS an example of mobocracy

somthing that the founders of The United

States of America was concerned about.

as for your username America is NOT

loading people into gas chambers and ovens murdering our own citizens, neither are we pursuing a policy bent on global domination of other peoples. you have absolutely NO perspective on the evils of the nazi germany of hitler and it murderous regime.

  • I'm not sure how well you can understand the things that you read. I obviously didn't compare the US to the killing of jews, i said their policies and government, as in they dont allow TRUE freedom of speech. If you gain any political power without submitting to the special interest groups and the real runners of this country, then you will be silenced one way or another. This is a fact of life.

That was my point but apparently you would like to go off your own demented interpretations.

  • i read quite well and your analogy is totally and absolutely ridiculous. the American policy is that of Freedom for all people who are oppressed and as for special interests groups suppressing freedom of speech, the video depicts anarchist, anti-American terrorist sympathizers who are out to disrupt a legally convened gathering of a political organization. this group is the same crowd that protests at funerals for fallen American hero soldiers, economic negotiations and political rallies.

  • "the video depicts anarchist, anti-American terrorist sympathizers who are out to disrupt a legally convened gathering of a political organization."

That explains your idea of freedom of speech...or rather "freedom" of "speech".

You hail freedom of speech but whenever people exercise their constitutional rights, those who oppose their views silence them in one manner or another. Birds of a feather flock together I guess...

  • Rich people are always for the police state. The sad part is when poor people get also scared to the point of giving up liberty for safety.

  • Press...they had credientials EASILY seen, camera, they were obviously NOT protesters, they yelled "press, press"...

This is one more step to a third world dictatorship. You guys seem to WANT that. Good luck with that.

  • These were clearly identified members of the press, not kids dressed like ninjas throwing rocks. IF YOU DON'T LIKE LIVING IN A NATION WITH CONSTITUTIONAL GUARANTEES OF A RIGHT TO PEACEFUL ASSEMBLY AND A FREE PRESS, THEN WHY DON'T YOU JUST MOVE TO CHINA!

  • Hey Idiot, Liberals mandate in alot of towns and cities that you need a permit in order to "Peacfully assemble" in order to raise more revenue another Tax. How does that follow the constitution? and there is no constitutional Gauruntee for Protestors who destroy property. and freedom of the press does not apply to a reporter who wont listen to cops and move out of the way. she should have moved away and covered her story from a distance. shes and idiot and so are all marxists...

  • The revenue covers the cost of crowd control, genius. Arsonists and vandals are arsonists and vandals. NOT protesters, NOT reporters. The distinction should be obvious to any peace officer qualified to enforce the law.

The distinction should be obvious to any peace officer qualified to enforce the law. The reporter arrested above, for instance, was simply inquiring into the unlawful arrest of a colleague. Where in the constitution is it written that we forfeit our rights by talking to cops?

  • Well, well, I guess if your old enough, this is more than just reminiscent of Vietnam protest's.

What always strikes me is how so many people defend law an order no matter what. Which is the problem of course. A couple broken windows and the riot police come down like the state run gestapo they are.

I would bet money, this is a programed response. The camera people were a target, once they're gone it's billy clubs away.

Must be why Republicans hate the media so much.

  • But John McCain has such a nice smile, and his running mate has great hair. And his bodyguards are nice and macho. I can't wait to see them all naked.

  • Before you make commentary that is inaccurate or fallacious, make sure you really know of what you speak.

  • Various exceptions to free speech have been recognized in American law, including obscenity, defamation, breach of the peace, incitement to crime, "fighting words," and sedition.

  • Oh, yes, I've read it. And, The Constitution.

The Freedom of Speech amendment does not provide for protection of violent acts or incitement of riots.

    What is your point?

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people PEACEABLY TO ASSEMBLE, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

    Have you read it?

  • Uh huh. I'll probably have forgotten it long after they've carted you off to a rubber room.

  • She didn't get arrested for protesting, she got arrested for being a democrat. Which is a good enough reason for me.

  • So typical from a bully republican.

  • Typical right wing extremist christian who thinks that their beliefes are the one and only truth and everyone who disagree deserves to get a baton over their heads and put in jail for their thoughts!

This is what happens in a country, where people do not learn basic history or geography, OR does not learn from history of how facsist regimes are establishment.

That does not read too much, except righ wing propaganda. That does not know what the capitol of South Africa, Sweden, Australia, etc.

  • Before you question my knowledge of history learn how to spell.

  • You are a fascist then. Bugger off. Move to China, fascist.

  • What is this "America is on it's way to fascism" bullshit? There is no erosion of freedom of the press. Jesus, the leftists control the press. The leftists are the ones who seek fascism under the guise of socialism.

If things were really as bad as you claim, there would've been countless interned over the past eight years.

When shithead protesters decide to wreak havoc, they deserve to get their lazy asses handed to them.

  • keep that in mind when the right wing herds you to the meat factory with a barcode on your neck

  • DigiLusionist: What does your first amendment say? Say it to me... im a scandinavian... i havent seen in, just investigated. You seem to be an american citizen... what does it say? ... I have read it ... have you?

  • USA has truly set its course to what will lead to a facsist police state. The kind of state that you wanted to get away from when you fought for your independence of the crown and wrote your constitution and demanden independence from.

Freedom of the press is slowly being eroded, the right to assembly is eroded by your "patriot act" and your freedom of speech is slowly eroded by your republican government and its right wing propaganda machine and corporate right wing media (fox).

    Wake up!

  • This is the kind of police state created by the Neo-Conservatives now heading up our government! Freedom of the press? GONE. Corporate mainstream media? NO REAL NEWS, just sensationalism and Blah Blah Blah commentary. TOO BAD FOR AMERICA. These journalists proved themselves true heroes to hang in there and get this out to the People of this country. THANK YOU.

  • This is Amerika under republicans.

  • No - this is america under Liberal Marxists Socialist commie punks like yourself...

  • Hey Clueless, yeah you, mm14nysm, you should avail yourself of a book or two so you can find out what Marxism means, and Socialism. You're throwing around words the meaning of which you are OBVIOUSLY clueless.

  • hey mister I read a million books, you spelled speech wrong.

Also, you're reading the wrong books, try Democracy For the Few by Michael Parenti or Fragments of an Anarchist anthology by David Graeber. Those are the books that the "radical left" uses. Books that illuminate how fucked up our current system is and how we can rebuild in a more constructive way. And try spell check.

  • I'm only nitpicking because you're acting like you know everything. Our current system (ie economy)is bad because we are caught in a war that is costing YOU the taxpayer trillions of dollars.

I don't ascribe to any political agenda, so don't try to throw out those bullshit labels. I want healthcare, quality education, and a government that listens to its people. Everyone in the world deserves those things, even a naive asshole like you. Don't you? Or do you think you're better than everyone?

  • I think you are a very sad and bitter soul, but I think you deserve to be happy like everyone else.

I've worked very hard to pay for an education and etc. Also, where the hell do you live that causes you to pay 60% of your income to taxes? If I was paying that much I would sure as hell want my health care covered. Oh but the government is too busy using your "hard earned" tax money to finance a 700 billion dollar bailout plan. I guess the slackers are the inadequate government.

  • When you add up all the taxes, Fed income, State income, social security, fico, gas taxes, food taxes, clothing taxes, Phone taxes, and fees Cable TV taxes, tolls, PROPERTY TAXES,etc. it all adds up to almost 60% of my income...I've paid for my education and am still paying it off...The bail out was a horrible Idea... I would have perferred a free market solution like lending the money and cutting Cap Gains Taxes rather than throw our tax money at it and socialize the banks BAD move...

  • Private health care in the US is also subsidised by the government just as it is in other countries.

Other peoples taxes pay for part of your health care. Private health care in the US leeches off taxpayers anyway and costs far more than public health care.

You'd better practice what you preach and make sure your health care provider is 100% private or shut the hell up.

  • That's pretty fucking gay.

But until people stop willing to be ignorant and apathetic about our country, or until protesters as a whole refuse to yield, it will continue.

  • this is some really scary shit o_o

  • I'm sure you'll be screaming when your basic rights are being violated.

  • No, dumbasses like mm14nysm don't value rights, as all they want to do is sit in front of their TV sets and believe what they are told by the corporate media and govt. They never have and never will protest anything, as they are too stupid. Dipshits like him would be happier in China. They know no history, haven't read the Constitution and couldn't care less...

  • smithghs08 FUCK YOU - I get my information from all different sources. Your the stupid Dipshit asshole. I protest through the ballot box asshole... and I hate what is going on in China.. It's you liberal Marxist Nut Jobs who would take us to that state of affairs. Go Read a book jackass...Liberal Democrat and Liberal republican politicians are the ones who are stealing democracy ans your individual liberty jackass..

  • And they won't- that is, until it happens to them.....

  • you need some assisted natural selection, she was covering a protest, i guess you don't have ears, she was audibly and clearly letting thoes "gentlemen" know that she was press and they were attacking her even though it was clear that they were being overly aggressive and totally stepped out of line-it's is ignorance like yours that misplaces prejudice and puts ethical and lawful reporters in a negative light-the foolishness you show with moronic statements like this only shows idiocy

  • Are property rights in the constitution? Sure. But so are the rights to peaceful assembly and free press. Of course, if you're only interested in property rights at the expense of all else, there are plenty of banana republics for you to choose from... why don't you take your totalitarian yearnings there? WHY DON'T YOU MOVE

  • It is your right to peacfully assemble under the constitution but look who authors the laws that you need permits. 9 times out of 10 it's a liberal who is trying to raise revenue for their municipality....how does that respect the constitution??? the police are only inforcing the laws and codes, that's their Job and their role. If the reporter does not follow the law then the police are within their rights to move her...

  • hey you know who else didnt follow the law and who the police had a right to move... Rosa Parks

Forget the law. You have common sense. Look at this video and use it. Does any of this seem right to you? Some poor women screaming "press" in an attempt to stop from being forced to the ground and arrested. Thats not right. you know that.

  • What is it about "the right to assemble" that I don't understand? This seems so wrong it's unbelievable.

  • The police have revoked the right to assemble beyond the line they created.

  • What is disheartening is major news networks are basically ignoring this. Is this not news?

  • I will descend into this cess pool of frequently ignorant almost illiterate commentary to \assert that the person being assaulted by the honkey cops is a legitimate journalist connected producer. AND, that this sort of thing invites the use of AK-47 style retribution on these pissant fuckers. Do I contradict myself? No, I am as angry as anyone can get. This deserves a Watts style riot.

  • OK, I was too hasty in my "judgment" about the comments, having hastily read just a few of the most recent . .. seems like more people are denouncing the actions of the cops. But I still believe in smashing their riot gear asses. The American psyche (ironically, including my own) is extremely violence prone, so we might as well self destruct by redoing the civil war. That would kill more violent Americans, right?

  • the gov pays trolls to go to these sites and say the cops are good and the cop should of beat the victims even more /wake up the cops are staging riots dressed as provocateurs as a pretext to use marshal law .they have always done that

  • protip: dont stand in the middle of a fucking mob smashing in windows and pushing flaming garbage cans into cop cars

i thought everyone taught their kids that

  • mikepatr-lick lick lick lick suck the cops lick lick lick ah lick lic li l

  • The absolute lack of compassion and intelligence displayed by danielferree & mikepatr is appalling. How can you watch that and act for one second as if they deserved it? They were "manhandled" because the police obviously think they can conduct themselves any way they see fit under this fascist regime being lead by George W Bush. This is America not a communist country, but with people like you growing in numbers maybe that's where we are headed. I hope not.

  • The footage that is here was incorporated into the Democracy Now! broadcast. Outtakes should be available next week when the show's producers (and their footage) return to New York. Also, it is illegal to arrest members of the press (see 1st Amendment of the Constitution) for covering events in a public space. This is one of those instances. Goodman's charges will probably be dropped, as have about 1/2 of charges for RNC protesters (citizens).

  • Journalists actually have a better chance of charges being dropped than protesters, as their 1st Amendment rights allow them to move freely in spaces police have designated as being off-limits to citizens. The video of Goodman's arrest, which is widely available on YouTube, would likely be used to prove her innocence if charges were not dropped. Thanks for your comment. It really helps readers and viewers think more critically about these issues and learn their rights.

  • she wasn't trying "push against" the police line, just talk to the officers

  • You mean MORE transparent.

  • Wow... serve and protect all right...

  • i have been blocked from making comments on john mccain's videos for nothing more than telling the truth. guess he doesn't want his loyal brainwashed followers to hear it.

mccain not only doesn't know how many houses he owns, but he has not been up front about his oil leases in oklahoma. palin is also a puppet for big oil, and her husband is not really a fisherman anymore. in fact he is now an oil production manager for bp. boys and girls, this is called collusion. say no to big oil. go obama!!!

  • me too its bullshit he obviously doesnt want to hear what the people really have to say

  • Yeah! Fuck constitutional rights!

  • How about not listen because we can protest whereever the fuck we want. Are you an idiot? Did you not just see her get pushed to the ground? wow

  • danielferree,

The point is that she is a journalist filming the situation for a television news broadcast. The police should have looked at her press credentials and simply walked around her.

This is how you can tell whether or not you live in a democracy: by the treatment of journalists and other innocent bystanders when the riot police arrive.

  • YEAH MAN, we don't need no FUCKING constitution!!

  • We the people voted for a police state in 2000 and 2004, so we got what we asked for!!!

  • "The people" didn't ask for it in 2000.

  • freedom of speech and democracy are both facades

  • Freedom of speech in the Us. Pressfreedom in the US.

    MY ASS.

A new policestate has been stand up.

You look like a bananarepublic like Colombia. Poor you people in the US.

  • Fuck the NWO.

  • America's second Revolution has begun

  • What the hell is this? I'd expect to see this in China, North Korea, or possibly Russia. This is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! not the Corporate Police States of America. When a journalist is arrested and brutalized for doing his/her job, it goes too far. What? is the only media that the american people believe in the type of media that wastes their time on celeb news?

  • Ugh...

as moronic as the anarchists were, this kind of thing makes me hope to god that at least some of those riot cops get their worthless asses stomped into the ground.

I'm sorry, but i have no mercy for pigs like that -- assaulting a reporter who did NOTHING to provoke them.

Ho hum, i suppose with the 10 million in legal defense money that the cops have at their disposal, they get to have their fun.

  • Yeah, because we can trust that the police will be transparent about this. Go back to sleep.

  • It's easy to put personal responsibility and morality in the back of the drawer when it's about upholding the law, isn't it?

You think that just because they're police, they shouldn't at some point down the road question what the fuck they're being told to do, and whether or not it's justifiable? Maybe not in this instance, but where do you draw the line.

And more importantly, at what point does law simply become the will of those in power, instead of the will of the people for justice.

  • police officers do have a responsibility to uphold law, but shouldn't we start by criticizing the politicians we have elected, who are putting those laws in place?

  • I don't believe that these people were anarchists, that vision was probably portrayed by the mainstream media.

  • The protestors arent anarchists. They are constitutionalists.

  • Terrible indeed. But I am surprised at how many people are surprised by this. o_O

  • Well, this is further proof of typical Government tactics. Parrot and promote a passel of politicians, and jail genuine, germane journalists. Buy billions of dollars in adverts, and bomb TV news channel studios that don't promote your product (think: al-Jazeera in Baghdad). Capitalize on Karl Rove, jack off Jack Abramoff, and only give "freedom of speech" to those with enough money to purchase it.

As for "Zionist Israel," Amy Goodman is descended from Orthodox Jews, though not practicing.

  • Granted the press goes to far sometimes...suppression by force should only be tolerated in defense. This is flat out wrong. The cop was simply to hasty and the other cops were so rushed they probaly did not grip the situation. Guess they fail the competence test. Police I support but when they support each other to the point of a gang, they need to be removed. Country over your buddies. We cannot let this happen anymore.

  • The press goes too far? In what way? I can't really think of any example where the press EVER goes too far in this country. With the exception of independent media, the press in this country never goes far enough in my opinion. Tonight the local news in my city ran a story about a cat stuck in a tree...meanwhile independent journalists who do not rely on corporate sponsors/partnerships are getting violently arrested in the streets for doing their jobs. This is scary.
