  • lol i rndomly kipped trying to find the begining nd each tim hcbaly said "

    Translation"

  • The 2012 LP brought me here!

  • FFIV has my favorite battle theme

  • Hcbailly" I don't sing viewers"

    riiiiiiiight........

don't get me wrong I always enjoy it

  • The scene where they steal the water crystal is not a flashback in the FF2 version of the game. Probably why they added the dialogue.

  • lol i have that emulator but it eens it will be in chinnesse how do you change it

  • this game reminds me a lot of Crusader of Centy 07:14 looks like the castle in centy O.O

  • At 9:04 make sure your speaker volume is down...

  • How do I get it on pc ffs

  • omg i cracked up so hard when you made the licking sound!!! lol i got a clear picture in my head of the king slobbering on it hahaha

  • scooby-dooby-doooo!

  • Thumbs up if you came here wanting to compare this and the complete edition

  • is virtual counsul the same as the snes one

  • @yy8gj8 only certain versions of it

  • Man, I had this game! And it was really good! But I never got a chance to finish it because I lost the DS and the game! :(

  • @unwrittenmariposa09

Download an emulator and the rom.

  • @m1che1: Have tried emulators, pretty slow. I rather not.

  • @unwrittenmariposa09 What do you mean slow? Unless you have a computer from the 1980's the game should run perfectly fine.

  • @TehFlyingJam: not all computers are that fast. I tried to play Kingdom hearts coded on DS as a rom and the cutscenes were slow as fuck.

  • You helped inspire me to do a FFIV LP!

  • Question! Does FFIV for Gba is different from the snes and DS version? I got all of them on my emulators, was wondering which should i start first lol(finished so far 1/2/3/7/8/9/10 but i'll play them again...i lvoe too much ffs^^)

  • Isn't Cain in the SNES version spelt Kain? O.o

  • Yeah! I have final fantasy chronicles and final fantasy 4 is my 2nd favorite ff, ff9 is my favorite.

  • i got the ds version of ff 4 but i can´t believe what you just said though i should not be that surprised that they butchered the original.

  • Ever play through the DS version?

  • What did you use to record this?

  • now is this the original version or the FF Chronicles port?

  • Omg HCBaily has ads.... i didnt know he was that popular. u earned the money youtube gives u

  • going to watch the whole series:) ur funny! :D also, liked and subbed

  • i dont mean to be a nuisance but have you done an lp for final fantasy tactics

  • I got the DS version of this game. I wish the graphics were a little bit better, but that probably would've required some better hardware than what they had at the time.

  • is this game worth getting on gba? i already beat ff6. is it better?

  • They had changed the original because of religious bullshit. for example they took out words like "holy" i think. What assholes. they worry about something that doesnt exist.

  • @PSspecialist In their defense, some people (mainly politicians and devout Christians) complain about crap like that all the time. When Mortal Kombat came out they did the same censoring, and thought people would love them for it. They didn't know better until people complained. They just wanted to keep everyone happy so they could sell their games. And sometimes it's hard to figure out what people will complain about.

  • I have the psp version of FF IV and i love it but is it like still the same as the original or does it have a lot of different things in it?

  • @EvilCarl100 The game mechanics of the PSP version are identical to the original. It features the bonus content of the GBA version, but with all the really annoying bugs fixed. You can also use the original soundtrack, instead of the remixed one. It's pretty hard to beat.

  • @HCBailly Well you ever do an LP of FFIV-2?

  • @HCBailly HCBailly, I was wondering if I should shell out the 30 so bucks to get the Complete Collection for the PSP before it gets potentially discontinued like the other original remakes on the psp e.g. Final Fantasy. Is the PSP version with its complete FFIV experience (3 games) better than this version, is it as complete as this version (script, spells etc)? I'm considering it because i'm finally choosing to get into the FF series after being a Zelda nerd for my 15 years of life so far.

  • @Duorsa Yes, the PSP version is really good. The price is worth the original or The After Years by themselves, let alone both in the same package. The script is the cleanest translation I've ever seen for the game. It's very faithful to the original, with only minor minor changes to the battle mechanics.

  • @HCBailly Thank you for the helpful advice. Also there is a new game in the collection, Interlude which is the sequel to FFIV and prequel to the after years. It ties together both FFIV and TAY and is a 12 hour adventure. I only know that from a review I watched. But I wanted true advice from an RPG expert on this package, who has experienced most of if not all of the series. Thanks once again.

  • @HCBailly Will you LP FFIV The after years?

  • @EvilCarl100 The PSP version is the best of any.

  • I like the scooby doo impression

  • This is my all time favorite game of all time. I am trying the same translated version as you which is awsome. I am going to play it through but I want to try the GBA version since it includes new bosses, dungeons, is harder and has a few cool functions later on like recruiting new members near the end and includes a bestiary, Great job as usual man!!! keep it up

  • @Kilkaido I've played through the GBA version. It is not harder than this one in the video.

  • Final Fantasy IV really was the Final Fantasy.

  • Despite what you said in the beginning of this video would you still recommend the DS version of this game or is it really not as good?

  • @eugenides04 My word may not be as good as HCBailly's but the DS version is the personal favorite of me and a lot of the people I know

  • @VideoSayg The DS version was REALLY well done. The 3D effects are done almost flawlessly. The difficulty was left alone, and all the items included. My only complaint was how they made the abilities more "modern". One of my favourite abilities in the beginning was Dark Wave, but they changed it to Darkness :(. And the game is a little easier since prey restores mana as well as health.

  • Thumbs up if you love HCBaily's videos you rock man

  • Everyone loves Golbez.

  • I just picked up and started the new PSP release and the graphics are beautiful! lol

  • I've played the original FFII version of this on the SNES way back when I was a wee one.

Believe it or not that opening sequence with the crystal had dialogue.

  • This is 1 of the best FF in the series in my opinion. I had lots of fun with this one!! I love Cecil!! FF6 which is also known as FF3 when it first came to the states is the absolute best. FF7 also was a masterpeice. 8, 9, 10 were all good as well. Fuck 11 mmo garbage. 12 was ok. 13 fuckin awesome but had downsides. and 14 yet another garbage mmo

  • @lamiac2411 I don't know if you're an MMO player at all, but as MMOs go, 11 was actually pretty good.

14 was absolute trash. Let's not even discuss that. Didn't HAPPEN.

  • Comment removed

  • @dRevan64 True, but at least the victory fanfare was at least CLOSE to how it was pre-FFX-2.

Speaking of which, in my opinion, FFX-2 is absolute trash. As far as MY conscience is concerned, THAT game never happened.

  • @lamiac2411 I can't wait for vs 13 it's basically the spiritual successor to vii and has a lot of the guys who worked on crono trigger

  • I am definetely getting the PSP version of this when it comes out!

  • I like how your playing the real version of this game, the one not bucthered by Americans. This game, Final Fantasy 6 and 7 are my favorites of the series.

  • HCBailly plays music? I'd love to hear him play an instrument or something.

  • @Dyluck387 I heard hes good playing flute.

  • HCBailly, have you tried the online game "Final Fantasy Legacy"?

  • this is the only version that i ever seen where Kain's name is spelt with a C...WIERD

  • Is cain a dragoon?

  • @chuchu2019

    Yes

  • Haha Nice Serenity reference 5 : 24

  • I'm chronologically confused.

  • Hey fans of final fantasy 4. Check out my review on gamespot of final fantasy 4 ps. My username on gamespot is "naglelator" just like my username here.

  • @naglelator Why not upload it here?

  • @frazzleberry How do you do that?

  • Hey fans of final fantasy 4. Check out my review of final fantasy on gamespot. The version of the game is final fantasy 4 ps. My username is "naglelator" on gamespot just like you see my username here

  • They were gonna sell it on EBay

  • excuse me, but where did you get this rom at? do you mind showing me a link, please. that would help a lot if you answered back. thx :) i hate the english translation of the US release. id rather play an english translation of the japanese version. i know what mean? like i said before, thank you for your assistance and have a good day :)

  • Horray for Serenity refrance :3

  • what do you think of the ds version?

  • I've just beaten the DS version of this game today, it was great! Now I'm watching this LP to see the differences between the two versions.

By the way HC, have you played the DS version? If so what did you think of it? Was it as good as this version?

  • @scorptatious He has played the DS version. He said it meet his expectations for the game.

  • Mr HCBailly is the FF4 version for the PS1 almost the same version as this version of FF4 ?

  • @jarrodwhite100 to answer the question for him, its basically the same other than the opening cutscene on the PS1 version, otherwise, its unchanged

  • @jarrodwhite100

I think the PS1 version is almost the same as the SNES version. I have the PS1 version and the graphics etc. are just like the SNES version. Not sure if the dialogue is different though, because I haven't played the SNES version.

  • @jarrodwhite100 The translation is probably different. Other than that, it should be the same.

  • I hate this translation of the game. The PSX version is WAY harder than this one. I've played the US's SNES version, the PSX version, and this translated version MANY times!

  • Jesus, indoor voice, please.

  • Yanno, rewatching this I have to laugh at your comment at about 7:10. In the years since we have most DEFINITELY heard you sing.

  • I have this rom of final fantasy 4 translated in italian.

  • you know.... in EVERY final fantasy game i ever played (up too five) they had to get or protect something shiny... in 1 they had to protect (correct me if im wrong) 4 crystals, in 2, they had to get mythril, in 3, they had too... well...i forgot.... lol.... in 4 they have to steal the crystals (i think) and in 5 they have to protect 4 crystals (AND THEY FAIL! MUAHAHAHAHHAHA!)

  • @frankman55 Play 6,7,8,9,10,12,13 those are awesome games too but no shiny things to protect :)

  • @VegeXP Actually....six had several things that could assumed to be shiny. Seven had materia. 12 had nethisite and magisite crystals. The others ones you might be correct about.

  • @VegeXP but I LIKE SHINY THINGS! oh well.... and i do want to play those. maybe ill ask my big bro to lemme borrow them. he has ALL final fantasy games.XD

  • Was this your first LP HCBailly? Big difference in your mannerisms from here compared to now ^_^

  • Why is it when I play this game on the ZSNES (both the U. S. and J2e versions) there is a line on the bottom of every text box?

  • And yes. I do like your Scooby impression.

  • I played this on the computer 5 years ago and it was called FFII so that was why I was confused when it was called FFIV here.

BTW. I like the songs you sang in the other LPs. They were very creative and very good.

  • Hcbailly doesn't sing? =P

  • Comment removed

  • 03:45 Back when you were getting out of the habit of reading the text... See? By 05:11, you're not even reading it anymore (woo! <:3 )

  • haha, just downloaded final fantasy 2 on snes on vc

and there u recieve a package instead of a bomb rring =P

  • The DS is an atrocity...a blasphemy....a criime against the greatest game series ever

  • @Scoreman7769

    no u

  • How come I fail so much at final fantasy. I was stuck on the octomammoth in the ds remake XD

  • @NinjaTertl oh ya right, forgot this was 2 years ago :P

  • hey HCBailly, are you ever going to play final fantasy 4 the after years? im really hoping you can :)

  • YESS I finally found it. The code that I sought. I am now doing a Dark Knight run in my Final Fantasy IV Advance game. E11AE3F6 178CA37C

  • i love the serenity quote when you said that i had to say explode i don't wanna explode

  • the first final fantasy game i ever played. and my favorite.

DS verson i want to say hardest verson. because lots of monsters that had weak-mild attacks like flame beast, chimera brain. ds verson they will wipe out your party easly.

i like the gba verson because ... lost me ds with my master ff4 ds file.

  • any chance of you LPing the after years?

  • Bomb Ring hmm I wonder what that does maybe it increases the attack power of Link's bombs.

  • do another lp of this game.

  • is final fantsy 2 on wii the same as final fantsy 4

  • entering....MODE 7!!!!

  • I've been playing this game for the last few days...all I have to say is...WOW!!!

  • I <3 this game.

Although I always questioned why you would become a black knight? I mean... There doesent seem to be any advantages... Meh, whatever.

  • Please tell me this "more literal translation" left in the "You Spoony Bard" line. That line is definitely the best part of the North American localization (Tellah just called Edward a bastard originally. Admit, Spoony Bard is more fun.).

  • @MigeulP it was left in the gba translation

  • @ComradeLuigi9956 Okay, but I don't care about the GBA translation. HC Baily is LPing the J2E translation. And I've already watched up to the point where he gets Yang in the party, so I know whether or not the Spoony Bard line was left in (I won't confirm yes or no, but I have watched past that point), so my question was answered.

  • @MigeulP i thought i removed my comment, because i realized that you were talking about this translation,

  • Best Final Fantasy right here

  • 7:11 HCBailly: "Thats the close ill do at singing" "i don't do singing"

Somehow this turns out to be a complete utter lie >.>

  • @DarkOmegaMK2 that was weird. i was going through comments as the video was playing and i saw your comment exactly as he was saying it =o

  • fyi early in you talk about the original version. your actually wrong. in japan there were 2 versions of the game an easy and a hard. we were ported the easy as ff2 but on ds they ported the hard. if you already know sorry im late just wanted to tell ya this is what ive been told by my sources.

  • Where did you find this rom

  • mine is final fantasy VII and VII

  • This was the very first LP I ever watched! It was around the time FFIVDS was going to come out and I was searching for videos, and low and behold, I found YOUR video! =D

  • just downloaded from wii vc

  • i have this game for the SNES and its called final fantasy II why is it #4 here???

  • @songokukingdomhearts When FF4 was brought over to the U.S. they skipped releasing FF2-FF3. For the sake of continuity Square decided to label it as FF2 for the 16 Bit SNES, so that it would match the only other FF release in the U.S. which at the time was FF1 for the original 8 Bit NES. However subsequent remake and/or ports of the game to the U.S. now reference it correctly as FF4.

  • @songokukingdomhearts Because Square never released Final Fantasy for NES until shortly before the debut of the SNES, and since it made more sense to put out the newer, more powerful installment and leave the outdated, less-good versions (Which were butt-crunchingly hard games. In the actual FFII, the best way to level up was to have your party members beat the crap out of themselves and each other.) in Japan. But since America got IV before II and III, they just called it II so noone would ask.

  • GBA version is the best one in my opinion.

  • Ahh Final Fantasy IV. The first one I played in the series.

  • Im playing along with you on this one bud :P and its totally hilarious how they give him a bomb ring and cecil doesnt even get a clue haha I wouldnt want him working at a nuclear plant XD

  • Aren't Valor and Bravery the same thing?

  • OH MY GAWD. where do you buy ff 4!??!?!?! I need to play like now. please tell me. and what console do i need to play it. i sware i will buy it. i just need to play the original 2d one!

  • His name is spelled 'Kain', but other than that it's a great translation.

  • This is by far one of my favorite games of all time. It was the SNES version that I played first as it was the 90's. It was the first rpg I ever played and it started my lifelong love affair with the FF series as well as the rpg genre. It was around the time I was learning to read if I remember correctly, so I like to think it helped me :)

PS: Where did you find this version?

  • Don`t like GBA and DS versions, one have bad sound, the other ugly 3D. Classic 2D still rules.

  • YES one of the best

  • Hey HCBailly, will you do a let's play series on Final Fantasy Dissidia?

  • Favorite game of all time ... besides Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu) series.

  • this is my favorite game ever. Thanks for this

  • i got this for the ds remake, also my fave charecter out of them all is kain for some reason, probally cause hes the only "lancer" but cause everyone else usally is the same and you got like 8 mages or something like that and cecil reforms and becomes lv1, rosa gets kidnapped and rydia turns into an adult who uses a whip cid, yang and tellah all become hard to use and "die" and edge is just gotten to late in the game to be usefull to his full potential and i cant remember the other charecters

  • @7:12 lol

  • Whats Really funny is that you said we were never gonna hear you sing and just look at your lets play for final fantasy 6.

  • 9:04 "So you're FIRED!!!"

    That made me jump!

  • Try BSNES next time. Best compatibility, best sound emulation, high-res gui, prepackaged cheat codes, and a savestate manager with modifiable descriptions.

  • @BansheeXYZ Zsnes is the best IDK what you say.

  • @AlexanderKupo2184

If you've every played this game on the real system, you'd know that ZSNES gets many sound effects wrong and has a terrible interface to boot. It hasn't been updated in years because it is written for 15 year old pc hardware. Only ignorant fanboys continue to use emulators like zsnes and nesticle.

  • @BansheeXYZ I then im a ignorant fanboy then, Oh well.

  • This one if my favourite too!

  • what emulator you use

  • I'm weirded out by the fact that they spell Kain as Cain in this version. Cain might be the intended way it should be spelled (don't know for sure) but seeing it that way is just weird after all these years lol.

  • does the cut outs count in ff4 on ds

  • Love this intro, love the music, love the Firefly reference!

  • @BballNintendo

    Because he was explaining things.

  • "Personal Favorite"

How many times have Baily said that now? XD

  • Final fantasy is the only series that make monopolization a good thing. They monopolize the RPG world, but they SHOULD.

    ...and welcome back to...

    FINAL

    FANTASY

    KICKS

    ASS!

  • FFIV was one of the best classic FF series I ever played besides FFVI. Sadly, US Nintendo's censorship policy REALLY screwed up this great game! "Some" of its translations were also EPIC FAIL (most notable for me are in equip/magic/items names)! Well, there were no ESRB at that time...

Fortunately, FFIV Advance provides (relatively) better translation, so I don't need to be angry anymore about the screwed-up SNES ver.

  • The DS remake was pretty good as well. Though there were some script changes it was still just as epic.

  • Has always been my favorite one in the series .. I do only play the cartridge though.

  • This was the first RPG and Final Fantasy I ever played, RPGs have become my games ever since.

  • first final fantasy game I ever played threw the entire game of... Was epic...

  • Final Fantasy 4 is my favorite Final Fantasy game.

  • You guys should play Final Fantasy IV: The after years on WiiWare for the WIi.

  • @kidnomor I think I'll wait for it to come to the PSP.

  • Don't bother playing the real final fantasy 2 on NES I have tried to play the remake on the gba I can't stand it, I think if you beat that game your a masochist who likes to attack themselves just to level.

  • @InfidelAntichristian I actually perfer FF2 to 1, 3, and 5. If you know where to grind you don't have to attack yourself.

  • i finish this game long ago

  • HC BAILY IS AMAZING USED HIM FOR ALL OF CHRONO TRIGGER, haha feel like i know him after listening to him for like 4 hours

  • O_O i've listened to him for a whole day, I watched the whole walkthough on how to beat FF7, cuz im not zmart!

  • im stuck at the haunted house in chrono trigger

  • They had the sense to rename the Bomb Ring something else in the DS version. Some kind of fancy "signet" ring.

Incidentally, have you played the DS remake? I haven't had a chance to really get into it yet, but I hear it's really hard.

  • Yes, it's amazing. One of the best remakes I've ever played.
