The problem with putting the tiles on carpet is that, even with the tacky back, they will shift slightly, causing gaps to appear between them, or overlap. There is a possible solution though (but I've never tried it), if you use duct tape on the back of the tiles to connect them together, it should prevent the gaps and overlaps from occurring; but if there's a lot of foot traffic on them, I expect the tape would be strained and end up giving way. The tiles are really meant for hard surfaces.

Since the carpet tiles have a tacky back, can these be laid on carpet and not slide too much? Or would you recommend them for wood floors only?
