i cant believe how ugly karen is. like. shes asian. she could totally pull off being super hot. but... she choses that strange peter pan hair cut. idk....
how could an "ugly" woman "totally pull off super hot?" there's just no way. i think karen sometimes looks hotter than she does it other times, but when she's at her hottest, she can melt a hole in a steel floor...there's quite a few videos on youtube where she's (IMO) just jaw-dropping hot.
I've said this before- I've watched those videos and they're nothing compared to YYY. For guitar chops alone- Nick Zinner makes ANYONE look like they're 14 years old when they play guitar.
see, the black sheep lead singer sings it in a more traditional, "pretty way." however, she strips out all the raw emotion that karen o injects in all of her songs.
what you get is a pretty song, but a pretty song with no impact. sort of when someone sings a classic song on american idol. pretty yet horribly dull, like they are only singing it because they have to, and not because they want to.
the blacksheeps' cover is what is is, merely a cover. a weak imitation of a great song.
this was the first time i heard YYY;s back in 2006 , i went straihgt out and bougth their bebut, then waited for show your bones, every song they do is amazing
of course she practices.those kind of people worry about what they look like way too much.total hipocrites..they spend all this extra time trying to look different and be different, but then they find themselves looking and acting like eachother ;)Just be your self, and be it well.
My name is Curtis Fairchild, from the band Flintcraw (defunct), a popular Melbourne hardrock act, and I am here to tell you that I wrote that song in 1986. Back then, it was called Gold Pylon, and it was about the deadly yellow pylon on the lead-up to the Westgate Bridge, Melbourne, around which so many unlucky drivers wrapped their Holdens. "Gold pylon, show me where the light is. Don't take our hands out of control." And it seems these bastard American hipster kids have ripped it off.
Once I would have been rallying supporters to my cause, but I'm happy now that I've reached Enlightenment. As a younger man I coveted the mighty dollar, the pleasures of the flesh, and the mind-expanding highs of the mighty lysergic acid diethylamide. But now I know that the cheap and hollow thrills of the rock n' roll lifestyle not only use you up, they wear you down. They seem like nice kids, but karma's waiting for them. And the comedown's a bitch.
Well, okay then. I'm glad to hear that you have reached "enlightenment." Would you mind sharing how you achieved this? (I'm not being sarcastic--I'm genuinely interested.)
I don't really know much about Yeah Yeah Yeahs, except that i really love their Show Your Bones album.
I meditated for years with my Swami in an ashram in India, focusing upon opening my chakras, particularly my Third Eye. Now all chakras are flowing openly and I am at one with the energies of the world. I suppose Swami was my Gold Lion.
Interesting. I haven't done any regular meditation for 2 yrs now. I need to get back to doing it. I feel that i am really "blocked-up" chakra-wise; my energy field seems to affect certain people strangely. (Both my acupuncturist and my former cranial-sacral therapist would get DROWSY when working on me. Weird!)
Hmm. I'm afraid i'm completely unfamiliar with "magnetic transference," other than the kind that used to occur on old reel-to-reel and cassette tapes, aka "print through." hehe.
Catchy Tune, nice performance! A few of the G.L. lyrics jump out and grab you...but I hope Karen starts writing moreheartfelt songs like "Maps", which she called their most "authentic" song, 'cause it bears (bares?) her feelings. She admits most YYY songs are "tongue in cheek"(goofy?). And a lot of their lyrics work great strictly for the sound the words make together with Karen singing...but I want more "authentic" songs!

That is total bullshit. The singer of that band is good, the rest are pretty awful.
To compare them to Wolfmother, the YYYs, or any other band they have covered is a fucking crime.
