Is there any sagging with that screen? I think at 120"-135" there is probably a greater risk just because of the size of the material. What do you think?
@jimcannataro I think they make a 120". There is no sagging, but I hear that you can get waves in the manual pull down screens from pulling down in the center handle. The electric screens are much better because it rolls up evenly and slow enough to not cause damage. If you have the room and money, fixed screens are a great option too, but they are a little more pricey.
Cool, it looks very nice and bright. Is the screen a 1.1 gain like most of Elite's screens? I'm thinking I might be able to push the 8350 to 135" but I want to make sure it's bright enough. THX
@jimcannataro Yup. It is the Vmax 2 series. It is a 1.1 gain with a 160 degree viewing angle. I has black borders also. It is a nice clean look. Everything should be plenty bright enough. I can't remember the last time I watched something in the dark. I always have some lights on.
@jimcannataro Yes. I find it best to watch like that because I don't have to worry as much about light sources in the room. I can pretty much have the lights on and still have a nice picture.
Would like to see more non-game action. My buddy doesn't have it set up for satellite or cable so would be intersted to see the quality for that medium and hear your opinion.
Nice set-up. A friend of mine has the Epson 8350 and just watched "Limitless" on his 120" screen from Netflix. Amazing. Blew the picture away compared to my 50" Panasonic plasma.
Hey, I have HDMI setup, and it says I can't change aspect, howd you get yours to 120" at 11 feet??? thanks for any help. I've been doing research and can't figure it out.
@Autopsy76 Well, your aspect should be set at 16:9. You can get it to 120 at 11 feet just by adjusting the zoom. The minimum throw distance is 8-12 feet for a 120" picture. So basically the closest you can be to get a nice 120" picture is 8feet. I am at 11 feet away, but I only have 100" screen so I have the zoom set to 100"
Where are you finding your zoom? Mine, is in the menu with the aspect ratio, and everything's greyed out *unselectable) and when I look it up, the manual says when using HDMI, it's fixed and not changable?? Kinda sick at having to throw my 100" screen with 26' of distance!!
So have u noticed any lag while playing any First Person Shooter games online? Isn't the Frames/sec rate only 24 on this projector? Could u upload a video of a FPS game like Call of duty please.
How Flexible is the zoom lens? Is the zoom lens easy and versatile?I'm saving my money for a Projector, But I'm still saving for a Prjector, Hopefully this! Oh and I'm 15! But I on;y have $341 bucks...
@K2SonicFan The lens is really good. There are controls on the top and the projector has a fairly short throw range so you can get a big picture in a short space if you are limited on room.
Thanks for the post. I'm leaning toward the 8350 myself. How long is your HDMI run from your receiver to your projector? That's my biggest concern with the 8350 since due to it's size, in my situation it would have to be wall mounted like yours which would require a lengthy HDMI cable. Did you mount the screen to a "board" or just to the studs in your wall?
@maxbass I think I have about 25ft of hdmi cable. I used anchors and mounted the projector on a shelf on the wall. It is a big projector, but not very heavy. Get your cables at monoprice. I paid like $25 for 30ft of hdmi cable
@MizzRC It is pretty slow, but you can wire some screens so it automatically comes down as soon as the projector is on, so by the time the projector is up, the screen will be down. There is a jack in the back of the projector for it which I am sure you already know about.
awesome. i have the same projector and was NOT going to get a screen because it looks so good on the wall but you have sold me. :) Plus it looks cool as hell when the screen comes down.
@MizzRC Get the screen for sure! It makes a huge difference. The whites are whiter and everything looks cleaner and smooth. Try to get an electric screen, or a fixed screen. The manual pull down ones are susceptible to waves forming and stuff because you have to pull them down by hand from the middle. Sometimes a twisting motion may occur if you pull it down too fast.
