  • what's name of this song?

  • if you want to listen to real norwegian folk music, look up Finntroll - Galgasång

  • @ck0ez they are Finnish, but still it is very similar. finntroll rocks /,,/

  • @ck0ez

    Finntroll is Finnish too.

  • @gjacks898 i know but it's just the same as traditional norwegian folk music.. it's awesome

  • Mari is an amazing Samish artist! How could you mess that up?!?!

  • Yeh. It's sami folk music.

  • this is sami,not norwegian

  • @scartiloffista thats so rigth, good that someone ave their head on rigth place

  • Uhm... That's sami folkmusic. Not norwegian.

  • Sami are the children of the ugly women that were accidently brought back after raids because we were drunk. I think we renamed the children Troll's.

  • I did some research. I found you are correct.

  • Oh I forgot... to all that believe that the sapme people live like they did for around thousand years ago, they dont, they are like us (Industrial) people.

Dont even try argue with me, I have sapmes in my family so I know what im talking about....

  • Believe me, if you had called Mari Boine a norwegian or other sapmi people for it, they would had taken it as an offense...

When it comes to that comment mentioning that we (Industrial) people must go to our roots, have i missed something? I will say that i live close to my roots as all the others in Norway that doesent live in the big citys or believe that they are something big.

  • @August1694 So living in a big city can't be your roots? Where is the city built in the first place idiot.

Roots doesn't mean that you have to go and live in a tree.

  • @stoffni

That wasnt what I meant idiot.

  • @August1694 lol please. you can be both saami and norwegian/swedish/finnish

  • this song sounds sooo depressing

  • It's Native Norwegian, so it's Norwegian.

  • Germanic Norwegians and sami are not the same people. Not related to each other in any way.

  • @tbg0o Learn biology my friend, -we are all related.

  • Even to the monkeys.

  • @tbg0o Even to watermelons ;)

  • @tbg0o Norwegians are so mixed that almoust none are fully germanic Norwegian or sami.

From Northern Norwegian with Viking Norwegian, Sami, Tater, Russian, Finland, Native American(of somekind) forfathers.

  • @Snowymanga 100% nonsense. You aren't able to produce a shred of evidence for this ludicrous claim.

  • This is NOT Norwegian folk music.

It's not Norwegian music at all.

  • agree with drittkladden :) it is norwegian in one way cause its the native that is singing :D

  • I wouldn't call this traditional folk music by any standard. Mari Boyne is however a Norwegian Same i guess with inspirations from Samisk folk music. Witch is a category of Norwegian folk music as well as russian sweedish finnish sinced they lived as nomads with heards. And migrated trough these countries aswell. If i got it wrong im sorry. If so please educate me.

  • I wouldn't call it 'witch,' which means someone who controls people or events for personal/ego gain - Joik is shamanism, about reconnecting people to nature, our ancestors, and the inherant divinity within.

  • Harrr yeah got me there..

I really thought al sami ppl were wiTches and wizzards and were plotting to take over the world with there super scary subliminal joik hypnotism.

    no... really!!

  • Can anyone list any other artist who play this specific style, or genre, of music. I love Sami folk music, but these original artists seem to be really difficult to find.

  • i really like sami music :)

  • I want to move to norway i got lots of family there

  • veldig bra du er so flink

  • heey this int norwegian folk musik!!!!

this is a same singing a famoust same.

hei! de hærre ække nårske folkemusik!!!!!

    bare ho mari ettelleranna.

  • Bitter dickweeds who just wanna argue about whether it's folk music or not aside... This music is really cool

  • just because the Sami are all over Scandanavia doesn mean some arent Norwegian. its like white people living in africa. they're still african

  • Africa is a continent, not a country....

Guess i see your point anyway :)

  • hahahaha They are Africans! hehehe they are Boers und Afrikaaners!

  • We Sami's are also norwegian, and joik is counted as folk music, so this is a type of norwegian folk music... This I have been told by one of the greatest fiddle players in Norway, and she makes a living of folk music. So shut it.

  • this is not norwegian folk music. you cant sing in original norwegian folk music. you can do something cald "sulle" but not do this psycadelica sheit...

  • I'm a norwegian too, and the fact that Sami is Norwegian aint completly true, because the sami folk are also a part of sweden, finland and norway. And thei're actually a bigger part of the Finland people than the norwegian people. So when someone speak of Norwegian, then speak of the common Norwegian, which is "bokmål" =P

  • Replying to "baitheway"

I am also norwegian. Norway has three official languages (bokmål, nynorsk, og sami). First of all if people say its Norwegian, it would include all these languages, because Sami is a part of Norway. Now, if you are offended, then thats your problem. But history is history and present is present. Sami is Norwegian. Norwegian as in the poeple who live norway, being Norwegian, meaning Sami aswell. Dont be ignorant and say "sami music, not norwegian". Sami in Norwegian.

  • A comment to all you norwegian black-metal enthusiasts who don't call this norwegian: Norway was buildt on the lands of two people, the Sámi and the Norse. In fact, the first text that mention Norway (Nordveg) is the viking tradesman Ottar's story written down in AD890 for the english king. This story also mention the Sámi land (Finnmork) and the sami people witch he traded goods from. The earliest written text about the Sámi is from Tacitus mention of Finnoi in AD98!

  • ...and in some of the early norwegian laws from the 11th century (gulating and others) there is text that tells that its forbidden to "go to the Sámi and get fortunes or to seek help from Sámi whitchcraft". As these laws was specific for the southen part of norway one would think that the Sámi needed no mention, but they do..

  • And there are proof that the heathen Shamanism had strong connection with the sami shamans. The mythical and/or the real Odin was possible a Shaman. I found a book that takes up writings from the late 1800 that is very interesting regarding this subject. Found it in the viking museum in Lofoten, Norway. Some people always think that the world is more seperated than it really is. Hey, in most mythologies there is a Three like the one in the bilbe...

  • lol this aint norwegian

  • That is because that is what we was thaught by our parents. I am not saying it is Norwegian folk music, but if Mari Boine is sing it is Norwegian. My parents are from other parts of Norway. I am born and raised in Oslo and therefore I am from Oslo, not other parts of the country.

  • I'm from Norwey and I think that it is stupid to say that this is Norwegian folk music! This is Saami music NOT Norwegian. We are two different kinds.

  • That's right Snadra mi ;D

    Håjlelåjle ! ^^

  • hehe kommer ikke de folka egentlig fra nord russland?

(=(=(=(= skjönner ikke et skit je aso

  • Saami music is NOT Norwegian Music!!!!!

They are saami peoples who live in Norway, doing their own stuff. They even got their own damn flag!

  • That's right! "norwegian folk music"? This ain't norwegian folk music! That's fuckin' Sami stuff! They are not norwegian!

  • Saami lives in Northern Sweden, Norway and Russia. They descend from many countries in northern europe, they were nomads so they could follow the reindeer. I guess Norway is the most known because it is the most there. Saami's are Saami's.

  • @NorwegianAnimeLover most saami lived in one place and fished for a living. Sjøsamer. But i guess the nomads are what most ppl have heard of, because they're "tokubetsu"

  • what song is this being sung here?

    it is AMAZING!!

  • masterpiece!! Greetings from Hellas;)

  • Mari Boine is a Norwegian Saami. I rather doubt she's appreciate being identified solely as ``a Norwegian artist.''

  • I fully agree with you! It's sad that some Swedes and Norwegians want people of Saami nationality to be Norwegian and Swedish instead. The Saami culture is truly fascinating and has kept something that we in industrial countries have to take wisdom from if we wish to deal with the enviromental problems; respecting the earth, re-connecting with our old roots.
