Guess how most criminals keep their guns in the UK? They give it to a kid - 10 to 13 years old - along with a cell phone. When they need the gun, they call the kid, who must always be just around the corner. They use the gun and give it back to the kid, so police will never find a gun on them.
That has the added effect of corrupting and endangering kids!
Just great, isn't it?
Another great joke from the UK: They put a 7 year mandatory sentence on carrying a Japanese sword. Idiots!
@AmadeusPower I'm pretty sure the ban on Japanese swords is punishable by 6 months, not 7 years... Did they recently increase it?
Regarding this video, a link between murder rates and gun ownership is to be expected by either theory. High crime areas will result in armed citizens who are afraid for their lives. A simple correlation isn't very useful here.
the number of illegal guns increase EXPONENTIALLY since the gun ban. They estimate that there are now 1 to 2 MILLION guns, with a large number of fully automatic weapons like Uzis. If you break the law, you may as well break it with serious gun, not just the average hand gun (NB: bad choice, but that's how criminals think).
Most UK police officers are now, in fact, armed. Citizens disarmed, police armed. Roles switched.
Why did he not mention that school shooting at the Virginia School of Law, where a Nigerian shot the director, then started a rampage through the school? He was stopped by 2 students who ran to their cars to get their private guns and who STOPPED THE RAMPAGE AT GUNPOINT?
As soon as the Nigerian was confronted by the 2 armed students, he dropped his own gun - after shooting just 2 people instead of 5 or 10 or 35.
Funny how they always glaze over REAL LIFE EXAMPLES that contradict their theories
Utah DOES allow students to carry guns. They haven't experienced a mass shooting in any university with armed students ever since. NONE. No shoot-outs between legally armed students EVER.
Also in Utah, the mass shooting in a "Gun free zone" (one of 2 shopping malls banning guns in town) by an Albanian refugee was STOPPED by an off-duty police officer from another city, who could legally keep his gun as PRIVATE CITIZEN due to his job.
Good thing that cop didn't think the gun was "uncomfortable"
Guns and suicides are NOT related: Japan, complete ban on guns, England, complete ban on guns, both have HIGHER suicide rates than the US!
How do they commit suicide without guns? By hanging, jumping off bridges, in front of trains etc. Very popular in Japan: by mixing cleaning products to produce hydrochloric acid vapors.
In Canada, stricter gun controls did NOT reduce suicides, it just reduced the number of guns used in suicides, but those were fully substituted by other methods.
The arbitration system we have has much more to do with the murder rate than firearms. If you only criminalize coercive acts and legalize all voluntary acts the crime rate would go down as much as is humanly possible.
The government already (that is "Already" ) gives each American citizen the Right to defend their life . Politicians want you to believe they have a crystal ball and can predict the crime rate. The idiots involved in trying to restrict your gun ownership right want you to believe politicians and police have better judgement than you when it comes to You protecting Yourself. What do you do when the police are not there?/ Ask the villain to pause until police arrive?Crooks love a fair fight
Lousy debater and much more a politician than a cop. He is lacking facts. His girl pounding on the door story was intended to stir emotions... no place for that in a debate. But he got a nice vacation in Seattle paid for by the taxpayers or ABC News.
@FreeRangeMeatHunter I give myself a thumbs up for actually listening to this guy. You're right, he really didn't present much of a case for gun control, because he really doesn't have one.

What we really need are no guns. Guns create a chain of fear. oh my neighbor has one I better get one. That's the mentality out there. Bunch of morons is what they are.
That dimwit conveniently glazed over the fact that police are far more likely (and have been statistically) to shoot the wrong person than a person acting in self defense...
And the idea of allowing people to defend themselves is too "simple"? Is pasting more "Gun Free Zone" signs his idea of complex?
I've ran into several "NRA gun nuts" who were armed while I was armed. When it is discovered that the other is armed by whatever means(open carry, printing, whatever), what usually ensues is a friendly conversation about carry rigs, firearms, preferred caliber/shooting range/manufacturer, and of course, there is usually a chuckle over the cross eyed morons supporting gun control who believe that just because they would shoot others for no reason, that anyone would take a life for no reason.
Police chiefs are mostly PAID politicians / paper pushers / puppets of the Mayor. They are not in touch with reality like the beat cop. He underestimates criminals. He thinks everyone including cops are too stupid to have guns. Thank God with them glasses he is not a beat cop!!!
He must have a very deep ass to pull out all that nonsense. Generally, you can't rely on the opinion of someone in law enforcement on this issue since most of them are elitists that think only cops should have guns. They don't have an objective view.
The "Chief" is an articulate dolt. He's either uninformed, misinformed, or disingenuous -- or all of the above. What would he say about police officers who mistakenly shoot innocent victims? Does he think all police officers should be disarmed? There's no rational basis for his line of reasoning.
What a F U C K I N G idiot...Seattle should be so proud of a dousche like this.

incorrect assumptions and scare tactics. I have a CCP and I have a very high carry percentage.

It's also quite amazing how police chiefs always support gun control - which is popular with their political superiors, the mayors.
A police chief is a POLITICAL FUNCTION and if they want to stay on the job, they have to please the politicians.
The rank and file of police forces support the right to carry, because it makes their lives easier!

If two NRA gun nuts pull out a gun on each other, which NRA gun nut has a right to shoot the other, and claim it was self defence?

That is a huge over-generalization. Nor does he say that cops are to stupid to have guns.

What a joke, we all have anecdotal stories that 'prove' anything and everything.
Laws, especially ones that inhibit self defence should be based on hard evidence.
