Too bad Lee Morgan's common law had to kill him - such a big deal is made of Miles when there were so many other (in my opinion better) trumpet players on the NY scene. Miles was genius at getting OTHER musicians around him (unlike Buhaina, who was THE drummer, you know, holding his own), often great musicians as well as composers (look at Wayne Shorter who basically kept Miles musically alive with all his compositions. But Morgan and Hub were such better trumpeters, I think.

The problem is that it displays jazz like a museum piece that ended with coltrane rather than something that is always alive and changing. Icons Among Us:Jazz in the Present Tense essentially picked up where ken burns left off.
