Bitter much?

I attend the University of Chicago, one of the most highly ranked institutions in the world. I'm a third-year and double majoring in Economics and Biology. I am neither stupid nor do I have low aspirations. I considered attending medical school; however, I am now more interested in PA school. Why? Medical school is not worth the cost or time (I plan on staying home with my children for at least a few years when they're born).

Continued: In my opinion, one of the main reasons these mid-level professions are dominated by women is BECAUSE WE HAVE CHILDREN. If I were a man, would I attend medical school instead? Absolutely. There is no time limit on when I can reproduce (>40, risk of birth defects skyrockets for a woman) and my wife will be the one getting pregnant, giving birth, and going on maternity leave.

The divorce rate among female physicians is much higher than the national average. It often comes down to if we are willing to sacrifice our personal lives for a profession; I am not. Therefore, I will become a PA. But how dare anyone condescend to people who choose to become a nurse, PA, what have you- just because they did not choose to go to medical school does not mean they "were too dumb to get in." Arrogance such as this is what creates carelessness that gets patients killed.

How insulting and i hope you feel better. I went to nursing school because I was on that path--a path not behind medicine but rather beside and we both get to the same place, with different experiences along the way. Lets make a video about the true enemy. the insurance companies. You are not smarter than me. Nor did you work harder. I have my own business. making 7 figures thank you very much

For anyone choosing between a physician and a nurse-practitioner, ask yourself this question: which one has the higher IQ? Which one was the better high school student? Which one did better on their SATs? Got into the better college. Got better grades in college? Worked harder? Endured the more grueling, painstaking training? That’s right. The physician did.

The best students go to medical school. The rejects, or the ones with low aspirations from the start, go to nursing school.

Sorry but an online nursing degree does not even compare to the thousands of hours that are spent in medical school and residency. You just don't know what you don't know and as a result you make stupid decisions by ordering too many tests or overprescribing medications. You just want to be called doctor without having to do the work that it requires and as a result confuse patients. You were just too stupid to be accepted to medical school

I hate to break the bad news to you but NPs are being handed primary care. we are upside down with primary care and we have burned MDs out. We need more primary care providers and NPs, esp. doctorates of nursing have just as much experience and education--sorry you made the wrong choice if you want to be a PCP and went to medical school--waste of money

How do DNP's give cost savings if they are lobbying for physician pay?? So get paid the same for less experience? Good for the consumer!

Nice job trojan nurses. Punt the sick patients to the specialist and run every primary care physician out of the field with your ridiculous equivalency assertion. You either will get low-educated nurse or a specialist. Terrible model for cost savings.
