  • beautiful video, thank you : )

  • Korea could do Gabo Reform thanks to Japan.

  • @Ultrasonicmolester why are you thanking yourself? oh, you forgot you're Japanese?

  • @6spdtls

Yes. I have read Korea and Her Neighbours written by Isabella Bird in 1897.

I found that Japan emancipated Korean ppl from hellish country.

All the Korean men were up to their ears in debt to the Korean government officials or Yangban.

All the Korean women couldn't go outside without their labor.

Therefore Korean noblewomen hardly could go outside

Empress Myeongseong told her friend, Isabella, that she has never seen even Seoul except on the route of the Kiir-dong.

  • @Ultrasonicmolester by exchanging millions of innocent lives and extracting their resources and labours, no thanks.

  • @6spdtls

by exchanging millions of innocent lives?

Japan killed millions of innocent Koreans? Why?

Koreans were Japanese during the annexation.

Why did Japan kill Japanese ppl?

Extracting their resources? There is/was no resources in Korea.

There was no educational facilities in Korea before 1895 but Korea could do gabo reform by the grace of Japan.

Even Seoul National University was established by Japan as Keijo Imperial University in 1924.

Koreans know nothing about their history.

  • @Ultrasonicmolester only you japs think that's true. in fact chinese people don't brag about it. only japs do. since when did chinese people bragged about how chinese history and that makes chinese the best? never. i think the only time they would do that is to defend themselves when some japs like you come around and say their shittu japanese war history is glorious. yeah chinese people don't try to prove shit, thanks to them but you japs do.

  • @6spdtls

You should read Korea and Her Neighbours and you can get the truth.

You can get the full text of the book on the internet.

  • @Ultrasonicmolester you're definitely a jap, and i know it. 'cause you japs are super proud and shit. what happened to your japanese pride? ohh that's right, you look up to your other faggot troll buddies. this is what the world knows japan as. the dog on america's leash, and hiroshima and nagasaki bombing shows exactly. america's own little bitch. and i mean bitch as in female dog, because you guys are feminine as shit. and you guys listen to america like the obedient loyal pet you are.

  • @6spdtls That was funny. LMAO a good one buddy.

  • @6spdtls

Yes. I know The United States has military operational control of South Korea.

It will return to South Korea in 2015. Be happy.

BTW you said Japan killed millions of Koreans. Is that true? When? Where?

During the annexation? During the WW2? Your govt teaches you Korean ppl the fantasy?

  • I see Jintan ads on the street , this film is during Japanese rule, not 1901.

  • LOL. can't believe the absurdies I'm reading coming from Nips who're educated in totally distortedm warped history of theirs. Korea asked Japan to be annexed? LOL.

would you ask the thief to come into your house? LOL

even a toddler would know the answer to this very simple Q.

This is why the Nips can only be monkeys due to their denials and distorted history. their minds are totally being radiationed by the deceit and also prolly the recent nuke disasters. it's most likely exacerbating

  • @VenusDooly

    I think so.

The inferior monkeys can't get any nobel prize forever.

  • korean=dirty race

  • @skuldr tell me what exact country you are talking about and what things they actually are lying about? If you are talking about exaggerated lies, it has already been PROVEN that japanese textbooks do not even mention any of their own atrocities nor do they teach it to their kids. That in itself is going to warp their generations minds. You woudln't believe how many young japanese ppl do not even know about rape of nanking or any of this.

  • @jualkyn

Yes. I know Korean govt doesn't teach Korean ppl about their atrocities during the Vietnam War such as Phong Nhi and Phong Nhat massacre.

And they claim that Japanese textbooks do not even mention any of their own atrocities nor do they teach it to their kids.

Perhaps USA also doesn't teach their atrocities such as My Lai massacre.

China also claims Sino-Vietnamese War was self-defense.

    That's the world's way.

  • @skuldr uh...No. japanese invaded alot of asian countries, korea was one of them and they comitted horrible atrocities. no ACCURATE historians deny this fact.

  • those little kids eating was so cute although they still looks so malnourished...too bad fucking japan came and bombed the hell out of korea. fucking japs

  • The twin lies of "the smaller country ASKED for us to conquer it" and "our enslavement of the country HELPED that country develop!" continue to be the devil-inspired excuses of tyrants elsewhere in Asia: those currently occupying Tibet. Even if the obvious power-seeking motive were absent, nothing gives a conqueror the right to force his notion of enlightenment on a weaker people.

  • 3.08 is after annexation by Japan. The scene of namdae gate was after 1910 years.

Before 1910 Korea was more poor and miserable and shabby.

  • 와 신기하당

  • Why the person who posted this vid uses pictures of Korea taken during the annexation by Japan as the pre-annexation pictures?? I think that's how Korean have been taught in schools though. Koreans need to stop making up the history. Korea didn't have the electricity before the annexation.

Just read the books written during 1800s to early 1900s by westerners to know the real Korea before the annexation.

  • @AlmondChoco1221 Actually, Empress Myeongseong began installing electricity in the capital(of course not personally), and even worked to modernize medicine, the army, economy and education, with help from America and Russia, as well as missionaries that were no longer persecuted as much as before.

  • lol well if anyone thinks what the japan did korea is cool, killing raping changing of history etc... then it was a good thing the usa droped those nukes on japan, they had it coming, and it looks like they have another nuculear problem to worry about... my uncle was alive during the occupation, i have heard first hand accounts of what happened, i dont see the reason to lie about history, example= why does everyone talk about samurai's like they did anything outside of japan

  • @hihobenhi FYI, the then population of Nanjing was less than 20 thousand ppl not 30 thousand people. I am truly amazed that Japanese military could kill 20 thousand ppl only with Japanese swords and guns in a few days (Japanese must have been majestically so POWERFUL and the Chinese military was so shamefully weak) although communist party and national party were fighting in the civil war in China... Oh well the number of victims in Nanjing must be a propaganda by the Chinese communist party.

  • I heard that a korean wash his face with piss. But it was normal before Japanese

    period.

  • Beautiful Footage. Thank you for uploading it.

  • When Korean cut their hair?

  • Comment removed

  • @hihobenhi But later, Korean cut their hair, when?

  • Comment removed

  • What ever the date. it is a very interesting video. That issue of colonialism is completely besides the point. Thank you for uploading a rare historical record. Of course the people were poor then but in some ways, Korea was a better country then than now. Seoul, (just like Tokyo), is a concrete jungle. Only in North Korea perhaps and a few plays like Ansan, can you find the beauty that was once Korea.

  • @Bekseju /Of course, it is a good video. However, this video is used as an agitation and an information control. "It was such rich before Japan annexed it" The Korean tells a lie in this way. Iit was a purpose that Japan annexed a Korean peninsula to deprive of this rich civilization. It keeps insisting on the lie so. On YouTube, there are a lot of videos of the same target malice. The Korean who up-loaded the video tells a lie further, saying that "Japan slaughtered the Korean and plundered".

  • Comment removed

  • @hihobenhi It was the Korean who asked Japan to annex Korea. The then-Japanese PM Hirobumi Ito was against the annexation but was killed by a Korean which expedited the annexation.

Probably the Korean ppl didnt want to be ruled by Japan but at the same time I think the Japanese ppl didnt want to annex Korea because the JP gov poured a lot of Japanese tax payer's money into the modernization of Korea. Blame the then-Korean government or the emperor for asking for the annexation.

  • @AlmondChoco1221 First of all, it is because of people like you that makes people think that Japan is not truly sorry about what it had done(you may not be Japanese but you're defending horrible actions by past Japanese people). Second, even Americans put the figure of killed in the massacre at least at 20,000, I should know I'm enrolled in an American public school.

  • @AlmondChoco1221 Thirdly, the ruler of Korea first fled to Russia when Korea was annexed, and the empress was murdered by Japanese sponsored terrorist because she was seen as in the way of annexation. Fourth, An Jung-geun killed Hirobumi Ito because the Japanese PM was supportive of annexation. Fifth, only the Japanese and very few Koreans benefited from the money poured into Korea, all the good jobs were taken by Japanese, and the modernization was either destroyed or outdated by 1953.

  • @AlmondChoco1221 Emperor Gojong didn't ask for the annexation. The Annexation was technically started by the treaty of Ganghwa which was ruled as unjust because of Japan's Gunboat policy. Don't you know that Japan invaded Ganghwa Island in 1875 to make this treaty? Koreans never asked for annexation; Japan opened up Korea's ports forcefully.

  • I examined it. It's a signboard of a famous medicine in Japan. 100 old in year or more. The name is JINTAN. It is still sold now. There might be a nonbeliever it. Go to google fill in"JINTAN"and click search button. you see the left side of the page. There is an icon of the camera. Click it. You will see a lot of photos. You move the page below sequentially. Then, you will find the many photos of JINTAN . At least Two are found in the photos of the same design as the signboard of THIS film.

  • This film is very later years from 1910. Moreover, The Japanese advertising signboard is projected in the 0:05 seconds only momentarily.

@transformingArt might have cleverly edited it. @transformingArt told a lie that it was Seoul before annexation. However, the lie is defeated at the Light of the Truth without fail.

I do not understand. Why does the Korean always tell a lie like vomiting the breath?

It is never changed in the truth, the history, and the past even if telling a LIE.

  • This film was taken after the annexation, because streetcar existed on the street.

And straw roofed houses were taken away from around the big gate. Before theannexation Korea was extreme poor and behind country, construction of streetcar

rail was impossible without Japan's aid. First ,before the annexation, there was big tension from Russia. Japan faught agaist Russia tohelp Korea. Japan won. Korea chose Japan so as to be modernized as well as Japan. Chose Russia means Russian colony , NICE?

  • 1901 -1912 ???

    ↓ ↓ ↓

    1910 - 1945

  • every think made japan the great nation great wisdom great warriors great great great and now they fucked up

  • where can I get this footage?

  • You know IPI still seems to think that they should re-designate Korea as a country under speech control as you see in the press in Korea like the other day.

I am not saying Korean people are stupid at all. Please don't say your interpretations. And somehow your country seems to create a history by that kind of interpretations rather than what really happened.

People in Korea seem to identify themselves with Nationality very much. And I feel this causes racism like Ki.

  • If you think it's not enough, read

    enotes.com/genocide-encyclopedia/japan

Japan has its own page under an item called 'Genocide and Crimes against Humanity'. You can read much about what's done in Korea by Japan under 'Crimes against Humanity Committed under Colonialism and War'.

  • it's impossible to have 2-wheel car in 1899 as your can see: 日本統治前の朝鮮

This film is a fabrication of Korean govt.

  • Comment removed

  • @theBlipPower It's so annoying to find that even nice and well educated Japanese do not know much about how Japan invaded other countries, killed innocent people, experimented with human, and destructed other culture(many of Korean relics were destructed or stolen during colonization). Japan should follow Germany feeling guilty about the Nazis. It's such a shame that Japan colonization of Korea is not well-known as Nazis, though it was as cruel as Nazis.

  • @wosendrnfl Read "Korea and her neighbors" by Isabella Bird. I think this book is banned in Korea for political/historical reasons. watch?v=8bfEJz25fdQ

  • @tryingtodoitnow No, it isn't banned though I haven't read it all. I remember I've read part of it and learnt about it in Korean class when I was in middle school. It was in the official textbook. We discussed about the foreigner's point of view upon Korea. I thought her detailed observation was great, but she saw only the surface of Korea not understanding historical context at the time. Also, I doubt if you are implying that Japan colonization of Korea can be justified? That's nonsense....

  • @wosendrnfl Did you read it in English? So you know Korea was part of 清国. Google: 大極旗が、清の属国旗である事を正しく教えましょう。 Also, Japan never took away your culture. Japan taught Hangul. Google: ハングルを奪った日帝 Also, google: 日本統治前の朝鮮 金完燮 says that Korea was too uncivilized before Japan came. There were slaves. There was a comment made by a Swedish about this, whose name is Arson Greabst. (sorry. can't spell it right.) Japan has helped you a lot, but somehow you always come back with hatred.

  • @wosendrnfl You also should know that Japan and Korea made a treaty officially in 1965, but somehow Korean govt had concealed it until 2004. Korean govt didn't spend the money they received from Japan to Korean people.

  • @wosendrnfl I hear in Korea, there is no freedom of speech. I hope you will know the truth. The press of Korea always fabricates things about Japan like it did with the football game the other day. They used a picture taken in October last year in Korea, where some japanese wore a mask of Kim Yuna because they were fans of her. and the mask was being sold at shops in Korea. The korean press abused it as if they wore it to attack Korea.

  • @tryingtodoitnow Besides, around the end of colonization, Japanese forced Korean not to use Hangul. If Japanese taught Hangul to Korean as you insist, why did they forbid that? It doesn't make any sense.

  • @tryingtodoitnow It's hard to illustrate just one Korean relics destructed and stolen by Japan since there are too many. For example, 북관대첩비 was stolen in 1905, found in Tokyo 靖國 in 1980's, and returned in 2005 after 100 years. 경천사10층석탑 built in 1348 was stolen by a Japanese officer 田中光顯 in 1907 and returned in 1918. He was even criticized by some sensible Japanese. 석조보살좌상 was stolen in 1912 and returned in 1966.

  • @tryingtodoitnow A lot of important ancient books were stolen in 1914. Most of them were burnt in Kanto Earthquake in 1923. Only 20 of them survived and were returned in 2006. Most of Korean palaces were destructed while colonization. Korean government required Japanese government to give back 4,479 pieces of Korean relics in 1965, but only 1,431 of them were returned. So the rest of them are still in Japan. Of course these numbers do not count the destructed ones. They are gone for good.

  • @tryingtodoitnow For the agreement in 1965, it was solely done by a president Park. There were demonstrations against this, so it can't be true that the agreement was concealed. Thegovernment might have tried to do so, but people were awere of that. I obviously learnt about that in history class as well. These days, most people ciriticize that agreement and the presedent. We know it was stupid agreement.

  • @tryingtodoitnow ANYWAY THE POINT IS, JAPAN COLONIZATION OF KOREA CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED FOR ANY REASON AND SHOULD BE CRITICIZED FOR ITS CRUELITY!! Japanese government should not distort the history and should teach students the truth. Also the government should stop glamorizing war criminals to war heroes.

  • Comment removed

  • @wosendrnfl And the press also fabricated a "Japanese culture" called "Ishimatara" where people wear a mask of person they dislike and abuse each other. Actually, there is no such thing in Japan. Nobody's heard of it. 江原日報 reported. Korea is considered to be a pathetic country in Japan because of many such fabrications.

  • @tryingtodoitnow Don't cloud the issue. I know that masks of Kim Yuna thing is some stupid Korean

presses' fault. Koreans also criticized the press. If you've heard that there's no freedom of speech in Korea, you heard a false rumour. Koreans are not foolish to believe all the information they are fed. Also if you are to give evidence, Japanese resources are not appropriate I suppose, because there's high possibilty of bias in them. I couldn't find Arson Greabst either.

  • @tryingtodoitnow I didn't have chance to read the book in English, but if you've read 'Korea and Her

Neighbours', you might remember the line that Cheong considred Korea as a subject country while Japan DENIED that. What do you think of it? Plus, the meaning of a subject country in East Asia is far differnt from that of Wesern countries. It doesn't mean Korea was a part of Cheong, but it only means Korea admitted Cheong as a stronger country than itself.

  • @tryingtodoitnow Even when Mongolia occupied many countries, Korea remained as a subject country, not fully occupied. I don't deny that there were times that Korea was swayed by China, but it doen't mean Korea was occupied by it! Also, I think Japan could be safe from China not only thanks to the East Sea but also thanks to Korea Penninsula blocking China's invasion.

  • @tryingtodoitnow For Hangul, you're saying completely nonsense. There are official records for the year when it was distributed, 1443, who invented it, King Saejong, and how he achieved it. Plus, Hangul and Japanese writing system are completely different. The shapes of Hiragana and Katakana are originated from Chinese character and Japan still uses a lot of Chinese chracters, whereas the shapes of Hangul are from phonetic feature and modern Hangul do not use Chinese chracters.

  • @tryingtodoitnow Lastly, I don't hate Japanese. Whom I hate are some extreme Japanese with distorted and

violent point of view. My Japanese friends say those distortion of history or hatred against Korea usually found on internet are mostly by some extreme Japanese, and I agree. Most Japanese I've met were nice and feeling sorry about what their ancesters did to the world.

  • @wosendrnfl Also, you cannot justify your hatred toward Japan because of what you think happened. About the treaty you say, "There were demonstrations against this". Please give me the sources about this demonstrations: pictures, news, books, web links etc. at that time. I also don't want the world to know Korea's fabrications.

  • Comment removed

  • @tryingtodoitnow Actually I really didn't feel like to contradict your insistence any more, because I know you won't change your mind anyway.. but I don't want people from other countries get wrong knowledge. That's the only reason why I've written this long. Bye.

  • @wosendrnfl @wosendrnfl OK. There are some misunderstandings. I didn't say Japan invented Hangul. I just said Japan taught it. That means Japan didn't take away your culture at all. Also, give me some sources Japan forbid it. I also want to see the sources about how Japan was "cruel" as you say. As far as I see, Japan helped Chosun a lot to civilize with so much money, without which you couldn't attain it at all. And how is it possible to use that kind of money for a country "colonized"?

  • @wosendrnfl Also, I am not justifying AT ALL and am not insisting. This is just your interpretation. I am just saying what I know. And as far as I see by comparing many resources, I have come to see that Korea has been fabricating history, if not all. There are many pictures left of around 1900 of Korea. There seemed to be nothing then until Japan went there.

  • Comment removed

  • @wosendrnfl There are some pictures of Korea in 1895 here. Google: 日本統治前の朝鮮. Also, do you know that Korea was one of the countries International Press Institute had designated as a country under speech control until 2003. But it seems there is still a controversial.

  • @tryingtodoitnow "Korea was one of the countries International Press Institute had designated as a country under speech control until 2003. " This means that Koreans couldn't understand real events until at least 2003. They still may be under the influence the press that conceals.

  • @tryingtodoitnow She says "Focus was heavily and intentionally placed upon the psychological and cultural element in Japan's colonial policy, and the unification strategies adopted in the fields of culture and education were designed to eradicate the individual ethnicity of the Korean race." Is your curiousity solved? Do you still say Japan taught Hangul to Koreans? If you still have doubt do some search in Federal Research Division run by US Congress.

  • @tryingtodoitnow If you're looking for specific one. How about "Comfort women" in Wikipedia? That's one of those most terrible things. Also, google "Japanese human experiments". You can find terrible photos and articles about it including one written by Professor Takashi. If you're looking for more graphic resources, google "Japanese war crimes". You can find many photos of crimes including those done to Koreans.

  • @tryingtodoitnow By the way, can you access to those resources? I doubt if they are blocked by Japanese government... because it's amazing that you don't know about those crimes.

  • @tryingtodoitnow Also there are a lot of witnesses still alive who have experienced the colonization. They witnessed with their eyes and the scars caused by Japanese torture still remain on their skin. One of my friends says her uncle was tortured for he did not change his name to Japanese one.

  • @wosendrnfl To further discuss this historical matter, we need to have a lot more time. You haven't showed me any definite evidence yet. I don't accept your interpretations and guesses. Also, I don't accept just reports some guy created.

  • @tryingtodoitnow Plus, have you read my replies thoroughly? I said I don't hate general Japanese and I get along with Japanese friends. Whom I hate is only some extreme Japanese with distorted point of view on history. Also why do you say nothing about the cultural relics destructed and stolen by Japanese?

  • @tryingtodoitnow Lastly, DON'T CLOUD THE ISSUE. We're talking about Japanese colonization of Korea, its brutality, and HISTORICAL CONSCIOUSNESS. But to solve your curiosity, there might be subtle speech control, but I haven't felt that at all for my life time. I suppose IPI update was too slow or inaccurate? Everyone could say and can say what they want. Even if there was speech control, as I said, Koreans were not stupid to follow the press without thinking.

  • @tryingtodoitnow You said you're not justifying the colonization. Then do you feel sorry about the crimes? Don't say "I didn't do that. It's only the past, not my business". Germans feel guilty about what their ancestors did. Maybe some of them don't feel like that. At least, they don't say it out loud and say sorry with their mouths.

  • Comment removed

  • @wosendrnfl I would never let my children get educated in a country like Korea. It is horrible.

  • @tryingtodoitnow But how about Japan? Still, there are SOME people who make excuses and deny the crimes. Even SOME of them insist that Korea should be grateful for Japan, which is completely nonsense and makes the Korean victims of the colonization sad. That's what Koreans hate. It's not ungrounded hatred against all Japanese. Koreans get angry and feel sad only for that distorted historical consciousness of SOME Japanese, which is a matter of course.

  • @wosendrnfl Well, you seem to get a lot of info through Wiki. I don't trust it. I wanted to see where your sources were. Also, I am not denying the cruelty of Japan then. Also, there are many evidences that many of the historical events didn't happen as people think like the one about "comfort women", which was a total lie. People paid for it. Your govt showed us the evidence: a real graphic evidence, which is pity for you.

  • @wosendrnfl Also, DON'T CLOUD THE ISSUE. You are the one doing it. OK? What part of my reply made you think that way? Don't say your interpretations. If you think like I cloud as you say, you are not trying to see the truth. Rather you are tyring to see your own.

You means a general Korean in that sentence you think I thought, I suppose.

Regarding IPI, of course, people living there don't know the fact that they are under speech control because they can't know other info.

  • @wosendrnfl There is a textbook of Hangul left. google: ハングルを奪った日帝

  • @wosendrnfl About your "sorry" thing about the history, I think everybody should be sorry about what happened, not just because I am a Japanese or Korean, or whatever races. And I don't think we should impose the history onto younger generations. History is not their fault AT ALL. They have to see what happened. But they shouldn't feel sorry about it. Otherwise, we can't go to the new. They should be what they are without history, which is their rights.

  • @wosendrnfl Food for thought:

About the validity of Nanjing massacre photos China provided as "proofs".

    watch?v=h39x6TVHSdE&feature=watch_response

    watch?v=etp_ut_QKg4&feature=related

There was not ANY valid photo.

China and Korea use history as a political weapon. Their intentions are not for truth, rather for their own benefits. They educate children along the line. How could Korea make children write something like this:

    watch?v=T0skE1rsspc&feature=player_embedded#

  • @wosendrnfl

I am not sure if you can watch the film with the address I provided. Again, it is on you tube.

    watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=T0skE1rsspc

  • @tryingtodoitnow I used Wiki just because you can access to the resource easily. So, I added that you can find further published texts in the references section. I hope you can find the books in the library or bookstore? If you're dead curious, why don't you e-mail or sth to the professors, who are not either Korean nor Japanese, mentioned in those references?

  • @tryingtodoitnow Then what evidence on earth do you accept? Besides, how about your evidence? It's mostly youtube video uploaded by Japanese or Google search by Japanese. At least, I tried to give neutral evidence by a third party, while you're giving biased things.

  • @tryingtodoitnow Though you can find many resources to prove the cruelty of "comfort woman" just by googling, I recommend you to read books by Japanese photo-journalist 伊藤孝司. His books are published in Japan, so I suppose you can find them with no problem.

Why did I say "Don't cloud the issue"? Then, could you explain how Korean press and history distortion of Japan are related?

  • @tryingtodoitnow Plus, I don't live in South Korea. I live in UK. I've attended an American elementary School, too. Also rest of my family members don't live in South Korea either for now. Since I have lived and been educated in various countries I can see things quite objectively. And I can tell none of my Korean friends have been under speech control.

  • @tryingtodoitnow About Nanzing, I don't know much as I'm not Chinese. Though, I'm quite sure that Chinese also have evidence to contradict your opinion. The one thing I remember is a line by a British journalist who was in the middle of that incident saying that the brutality he witnessed in Nanzing was more than that of medieval era and it was the worst thing that happened in modern history."

  • @tryingtodoitnow I didn't force Japan to say sorry, and I'm not forcing it to you either. At least, Japan shouldn't distort the history. You say 'they have to see what happened', but the thing is a lot of Japanese young people are not aware of 'what happened'.

  • @tryingtodoitnow Also as you say, for general 'History' every nation is related somehow and might have some fault. However we're talking about a specific history incident. It WAS Japan that invaded and colonized Korea and it IS Japan that is distorting history against all other countries including Korea.

  • @tryingtodoitnow Lastly, I was also shocked and surprised by the video watch?feature=player_profilepa-ge&v=T0skE1rsspc, which means it's not a normal and general case at all. I doubt if it's trustworthy because that video is made by Japanese.... I’m not saying I don’t trust Japanese press at all, but isn’t it a bit inappropriate to use that as evidence while talking about the history btw Korea and Japan?

  • @tryingtodoitnow Plus if it is true by any chance, the possibility of that kind of education in normal Korean school is less than 0.000000000000000000000001% and I agree teaching hatred is wrong thing to do.

Apart from that, what's wrong to say Dokdo belongs to South Korea...? It's TRUE...... It's funny that the tv program included that together. Also, it's not strange to sing a song about Dokdo. lol. It's just sth like old enka and does not have any political intention.

  • @wosendrnfl You say, "Plus if it is true by any chance, the possibility of that kind of education in normal Korean school is less than 0.000000000000000000000001% ". This is only your guess. Don't mention anything that has no evidence. Please show me the objective statistics.

Also, show me the proof that Japan is distorting the history before you accuse Japan.

  • @tryingtodoitnow It's a bit strange to see a kid saying Kim Jeong-il is a good person, but I guess it might be a misunderstanding caused by teaching the importance of reunification. You know, little kids tend to see things in black and white. When they grow up, they'll see what's happening in North Korea, face lot of information, and digest it with their own opinions. Anyway, I wish I could hear the original audio...

  • @wosendrnfl You live in UK. So again, you live in a country under speech control!! See: watch?v=CihW5I1NNhY&feature=player_embedded

Anyway, I suppose you have started to look more deeply into the history or what is REALLY happneing in the world than what you thought had been happening or had happened.

Well, I don't trust the Japanese mass media, either. They fabricate stories like Asahi newspaper always do. "Comfort women" was started by Asahi newspapaer in '80s by some fictional book.

  • @wosendrnfl Some Japanese media was created by CIA to "brainwash" Japanese after WW2. Anyway, a lot of info we receive as REAL are fabrications of some very few people. You know, we receive info that the world in deep depression and the media says that some people lost much money, but in reality on the other hand, some people gain that same amount of money, but they don't report it. If you know about how money get going around the world, you may have some sense of it. This depression is manmade

  • @wosendrnfl Anyway, more info is needed to talk about this. maybe talk to you later.

  • @tryingtodoitnow Well..there are countless evidence for Japanese Brutality during colonization of Korea.

I'll try to write as short as possible. First, have a look in Wikipedia "Korea under Japanese rule". Also, see 'Notes and References' under that item. Not only internet resources, but there are numerous records, books, and studies by various scholars from different countries. You might want to read one such as "Cultural Genocide and the Japanese occupation of Korea" by Matsumura.

  • In Japan, strong domestic opposition.

However, Prime Minister Itou vanguard of opposition, was assassinated in Korean.

In 1910, the Japanese government accepted the offer of the Korean government.

Japanese government accepted the offer of the Korean government.

The above is the full historical truth. Today, the Koreans call it "invaded"

    They are extraordinary liar.

  • Japan gave independence to Korea in 1895.

Before that Korea was a slave of China.

Since 1895, Japan has supported the modernization of Korea.

However, the Korean government began to sell his country to Western countries. Alexander II of Russia was declared. "We have to dominate Korea ".

Prime Minister of the Korean government asked the annexation to Japan.

  • korean people were living at gyppo tents. Thanks to Japanese Empire, they met human standarts. This is why they should thank Japan for their everything.

  • When Korean change their clothes and hairstyle ?

  • OMG reading these dirty replies under this amazing clip, it is clearly evident that there has been no rependence at the level of common opinions about ruling other countries under name of cruelty and violence in Japan. nothing can justify Japanese's imperialism and militarism at the time, making massacres over their colonies including Corea. Don't ever think about getting you Japs' hands stained with the blood of others AGAIN. With your shamelessness not to regret, I 'm seriously worried.

  • @theBlipPower I CAN'T AGREE MORE. I'm shocked by these stupid replies by some stupid Japanese who think they are victim of World War Ⅱ. It's awful that they are trying to distort history, and I doubt if they seriously believe that. If so, that's because of Japanese history education. Can you believe that Japanese schools do not teach what they have done during World War Ⅱ, while Germany teaches kids about Holocaust?

  • Wow. This is amazing to see a rare footage of Korea back then. Thank you so much for posting this with research notes. Much appreciated!

  • to nutchan0731

yes this video was made after japanese

annexion. See youtube(1) korea and her

neighbora by Isabella lucy bird. (2) corea

the hermit nation by william griffis (3) a

forbidden land "voyage to the korea" by

    ernest oppert.

  • Korean have dark skin?? k k k .... Korean were originally born with bright skin...but, Farmer have more and more dark skin..

  • This video is realy 1901~1912?

    I

  • I thought Korean women bare their breast back then. Is it not true ?

  • @reallybored2008 No. until late 19th century, only low class women who had given birth to son could bare their breasts in unformal scene. yes. it's very funny. the girl's moms even had no right to do that. and in many cultures the breast wasn't the most important sexual symbol. but was that of fertility. besides, becoming mother(in korea, of sons) meant that she would hold some right of family that had been forbidden before. very huge discrimination indeed ^^

  • What a beautiful video!!!!

  • 0:05~0:06 morishita jintan.

  • Wonderful video!

  • bright skin korean have small eyes, dark skin korean have bigger eyes.

  • KOreans look so much like africans in this video. Look at their skin tone. I know many koreans that are dark. They did however admitted that most koreans bleach their skin pale.

  • -to modern technological advance of Korea other then import-exports. If you see the rice and resource imports from Korea to Japan, you can see how seriously Japan exploited Korea. Korean rice production gradually increased during occupation but korean consumption of the rice fell nearly half by the end. Most of the resources and economical rights in Korean land belonged to japanese and forced koreans to submit to them in order to survive.

  • koreans are naturally dark skinned peopled.

  • @WhoCareswhatever2009

Not really. The Koreans in the clip are dark skinned because most were farmers or worked in the field. Koreans today (South) that work in office are not dark skinned.. It's a haunting clip. These people are about to or just lost their nation to a foreign country.

  • @dba7dba , real koeans are dark skinned people. Koerans used a lot of skin bleaching creme these days and it is dangerous too.

  • annexation was 1910. so this video is already part of japan. like "japs sent troops to korea. and massacled korean people". so. where? lol

  • It is a very interesting scenes. It was taken after 1912, I am convinced.

Because we can see a electric- telephone pole.

The opening of the Korean Electric was supplied by "Oota Electric company" in 1912. Korean school had not taught it you?

The bows and arrows were interesting, too.

    they were complete Mongolia type.

  • Koreans have flat dark faces like in this videos.

  • The people pictured are the peasantry. Working out in the fields all day makes them very tan. The aristocracy was lighter skinned, like most of the Koreans today. Some people say that East Asian people have become lighter skinned through evolution; I doubt that because skin color change of an entire population would take much longer than a generation.

  • Koreans give priority to desire over reality. the true history is not taught in korea .

In this video there is a advertising display of Japanese medicine which is not sold in 1901, so the beginning scene must be after 1910, after Japanese annexion.

Korea's Joseon Dynasty became independent of Chinese tributary state as a result of Japan's victory over China at the Sino-Japanese War.

  • The dynasty changed the name to Korean empire. But the modernization didnt succeed. For example the number of elementary school didnt increase smoothly, so ito hirobumi ,the first prime minister of Japan, scolded Korean officials for their negligence.

during the japanese rule, korea was modernized very rapidly, korean received modern education (the Korean alphabet was also taught). the modern education introduced by japan enabled korea 's economic growth in 1970'80'.

  • japan's technology and economic aids also played a very big role to the economic growth. Without the aids korea couldnt have achieved the economic growth.(eg. Mitsubishi helped Hyundai. Sanyo helped Samsung. Hitachi helped LG. Nippon Steel Corporation helped posco etc)Korean makers still only put Japanese high-quality parts together, so more Korean goods sell, more trade deficit with Japan grows.

  • you can see the same secne in Tainan -Taiwan.

you will see what beautifull city Tainan is...and after j-gavament planted skills of suger millet..Taiwan became NO 3 in the world. j-gavament tried to construced building by most Advanced technology more than japan.

  • yes,it must be during japanese rule.after1910. people live happily!!! during japanese rule korea was modernized rapidly.

  • This is the typical bullshit. Since 1910, the illligal invation, to 1945 korean consumption of rice fell nearly half While harvest of rice nearly doubled. all rice was excavated to japan leaving koreans starve. Factory and production techniques were accessible only to japanese living in korea. Rails were installed only to send the goods and resources back to japan. The amount of goods stolen by japanese are literally astronomical. To modern value it's around 200bil. dollars.
