Who's the one that damages? We as a species are destroying the wolves habitat, killing its prey, and then shooting it when it trys to get by on our animals. As to the "wolves are deadly" argument, yes they are. But how many wolf attacks do you hear about on humans every year? On average, none. There have only been 3 fatal wolf attacks on humans in the last 32 years. In the U.S, humans kill about 10-25 billion land and water animals. When we chop down the forests, we're destroying their homes.

Why are you guys arguing? They are predators, they eat meat like us. The difference is that wolves kill for food, and not for the joy and cash like us humans. Also, ever heard of surplus killing? Wolves do it frequently - they go into a killing frenzy and end up killing more prey than they can eat. In one case, one wolf slaughtered 10 pet deer and didn't eat one of them. Wolves like to get their kicks too, y'know.

However, due to the unfortunate habituation of wolves, they have become far more comfortable around humans. This means they are more likely to attack. Therefore, it is necessary to kill habituated wolves for the safety of other people.
@MrSpacerooster Which humans are you referring to that hunt for joy and cash? Because as a hunter, I don't get paid for my kills and I eat what I kill. The only "joy" that I do get from hunting is knowing that I earned my meal, instead of just buying the pre-processed meat from some animal that was lead to a slaughter instead of being in it's natural environment and having a fair chance. I don't play around with technology either, if you aren't on a bare bones hunt then you aren't hunting.

It's natural if wolves,pumas etc kill elks because they're their natural pray like cattle for us humans. But it's not natural if a human kills a wolf just for fun or because they "think" it would save the elks. Thats an interference in the ecosystem because they're already too few wolves and if you and many other hunters keep hunting them you'll exterminate them in a few years and this would damage the ecosystem still more because they keep the elk population to the right rate.

You people need to understand some things about Yellowstone wolves. I live close to Yellowstone and our elk herds are suffering in numbers because of these Canadian wolves. The wolves that use to live in and near Yellowstone were what to old timers described as a prairie wolf they were just a bit larger than a coyote and they primarily fed on rabbits and deer not elk and moose.
The wolves we have now feed on elk and moose primarily and now you never see moose and about a quarter of the elk.
I'd like to put all these wolfaboos in a forest with a gun, with a hungry wolf. The thing is, wolves are predators. Let's see which gets killed first. I'm betting the wolfaboo.

Why are you guys arguing? They are predators, they eat meat like us. The difference is that wolves kill for food, and not for the joy and cash like us humans. They don't even kill humans, only if they're threatened or you come too close to their puppies. I've never heard, seen on the internet or read about a human getting killed by a wolf. Also, ever heard of surplus killing? Wolves do it frequently - they go into a killing frenzy and end up killing more prey than they can eat. In one case, one wolf slaughtered 10 pet deer and didn't eat one of them. Wolves like to get their kicks too, y'know.

However, due to the unfortunate habituation of wolves, they have become far more comfortable around humans. This means they are more likely to attack. Therefore, it is necessary to kill habituated wolves for the safety of other people.

The only "joy" that I do get from hunting is knowing that I earned my meal, instead of just buying the pre-processed meat from some animal that was lead to a slaughter instead of being in it's natural environment and having a fair chance. I don't play around with technology either, if you aren't on a bare bones hunt then you aren't hunting.

It's natural if wolves,pumas etc kill elks because they're their natural pray like cattle for us humans. But it's not natural if a human kills a wolf just for fun or because they "think" it would save the elks. Thats an interference in the ecosystem because they're already too few wolves and if you and many other hunters keep hunting them you'll exterminate them in a few years and this would damage the ecosystem still more because they keep the elk population to the right rate.

The original recovery agreement was met in 2002 and the wolf advocates did not hold up their end of the deal so we now have a wolf hunt to reduce their population back to the original agreement. If we stopped wolf hunting COMPLETELY, the wolves would overpopulate by ridiculous amounts. If the wolves became overpopulated there would be hardly any elk left, leaving many wolves to starve; are you telling me that you would gladly let wolves starve? A huge wolf population would also cause diseases such as rabies and mange.
Controlled hunting keeps the wolf population healthy and stable.

Yeah, I like wolves. But the thing is, if I leave a wolfaboo in the middle of a forest filled with wolves, they wouldn't survive. Even if they were turned into a wolf, they would probably be attacked and killed, not invited to live in a pack.
Wolves are predators. I wouldn't like to run into one in the middle of the wild, and I'd rather hurt one and save my cats from being eaten than let it feast on something precious to me. My point is, like the wolves, don't worship them.

You people need to understand some things about Yellowstone wolves. I live close to Yellowstone and our elk herds are suffering in numbers because of these Canadian wolves. The wolves that use to live in and near Yellowstone were what to old timers described as a prairie wolf they were just a bit larger than a coyote and they primarily fed on rabbits and deer not elk and moose.
The wolves we have now feed on elk and moose primarily and now you never see moose and about a quarter of the elk.

The sad thing is that people have the mindset that hunting animals means you hate them.
I want to hunt a wolf. I'd eat the meat, keep the pelt, the head, and the teeth. Claws'd make a good necklace.
But that, in NO WAY, means I want all wolves to die. They are smart creatures, beatiful, and crafty too; but I'd still like to hunt them.
It isn't a hunt-or-love deal. Hunting =/= you hate them. I find deer to be gorgeous, graceful creatures. Doesn't change my mind about eating them.

@tobias2287 Wolves are unpredictable. It is very wrong of you to predict WHEN a wolf will be aggressive - that is something that no one can assume. Wolves can attack in the most unlikely of situations.
In the case of Candice Berner: she was mauled to death by a small pack of wolves. All wolves in question were healthy and there were no pups around. There was plenty of their natural prey (e.g. elk) in the surrounding area, so lack of food wasn't the issue. Perhaps you are the ignorant one here.
