Hi All, I appreciate and agree with all but one of the points cc009wolf made: I know one person who would be upset if a croc had gotten him, that is if I was still alive. You see, all the commotion could have attracted the 5m saltie that lives in the small lagoon. No one was checking the water...no one! We were all too engrosed with the snake. snakeguy69, sadly I can't apologise/explain on TV as the series has been shot & produced, and I'm lucky to be on 9 National any way. Next time we'll know.
Hi All, I'm, Alex Julius, the presenter/producer of Fishing North Australia, 8.30am Sundays on 9, in which the snake/boat aired last Sunday. To be fair, I always drive around snakes (so many times) & have been a strong advocate for practising conservation in your fishing for 3 decades. In hindsight, we should have left the boat when it first stuck its head out, to give it a chance to escape. But we were worried, and I took a mega-stupid risk when I jumped-the big local croc could have been there
Worried about what? I can assure you, each and every snake will move away from humans. Believe it or not, they DON'T want to hurt us. To them, we're predators. Their eyes are an inch of the ground! We're huge! Why would they attack us if we leave them alone? And, to be honest, if you have a look at a few reptile forums, no one there would be upset if said crocodile had gotten you. There is no reason to make it acceptable to kill a snake.
well you've outraged alot of herpetile enthousiast with that act, was funny tho that you jumped in a creek... well the chances of being attacked by a croc are very slim to so!!! to l8 it's been done every1 has to just get over it....
it's just something that destroys educating people as the tv has more influence on the public and word of mouth. the most that could be done now to apease the many that are upset by this is maybe apologise and endorse not killing snakes harmless or not, it will help our cause instead of destroy our efforts
There's something seriously wrong when EPA have a problem with people moving snakes off the road so they are out of harms way yet if your an ignorant redneck you can bash them and even put it on television.

Every snake can climb, it's just that some are more suited to it then others. Tree snakes are obviously built for the trees. Most venomous snakes are terrestrial, so suited to the ground. It's like not all snakes are suited to swim, but all of them can swim. See what I'm saying? And yeah, I'm from Australia too, so I only talk about Australian snakes.

Every snake can climb, it's just that some are more suited to it then others. Tree snakes are obviously built for the trees. Most venomous snakes are terrestrial, so suited to the ground.
