@kitch516 hey sorry for it being so long but i just saw your post. I'm not sure exactly what song it is but the band that does all the songs that sound like that in the show is called "Explosions in the Sky" Their music is very calming. I have some song names you might be interested in if you respond i'll give them to you. This is the best show on TV period although I do miss Lyla a ton :(
This was the first and only episode of Friday Night Lights I've ever seen. I came across it and watched the entire episode, and found it heart-wrenching, this scene especially. He's a fantastic actor, and they all show the grief you feel when you lose someone special in a way that touched me as a person who's grieved that way, the subtle hurt and not excessive crying and dramatic sobbing that other people assume is the way people grieve. I applaud these actors for their performance.
I usually forget most of what I see on TV by the next day. Not this scene. I have watched it over and over. He does deserve an Emmy and the song, Driveway by Great Northern was the perfect song choice for this scene!.
so amazing, thanks so much for putting this up. does anyone know the name of the song and artist playing in the background when people start to leave??
I think what really makes this scene work, and all of FNL's scenes for that matter, is the cutaway shots to reactions of the other main characters. The looks on their faces speaks so much and shows how no matter how much we may think so, we are not alone in anything we face.
@Meloman0001 I noticed that too! I told my mom and she didn't catch it so we watched it again and I pointed it out to her. Such an incredible little detail.
I think he bleeds, because of the cut he got from carrying around the artists crap a few episodes earlier. I also think, beacause of that, this scene is the bridge to Matt deciding to go to chicago and pursue his dream of becoming an artist....and of course leave julie and his family behind. That makes this scene and this episodes and the whole show even greater! :D
This show is amazing, and this episode was incredible. I was crying through most of the episode, especially when Matt went to the funeral home and demanded to see his father.
This is the best show on TV period. I am glad this show is finally getting some respect as far as emmy nominations

As far as quality and acting, this show is on the level with Six Feet Under. It's too bad more people don't watch it.
