I know of this kid who is a genious came from very poor means he cannot attend college because he has a marijuana conviction which won't allow him to get a federal loan, however a child molester or rapest can get a federal loan in 10 min. Legalizing the drug would be the best way to kill its popularity. If they legalized it today, I would be willing to bet that in a few years recreational marijuana use would decline and plateau. It would most certainly destroy most of the illegal drug networks and most of drug the illegal drug cartels out there as marijuana is their primary export.

It'd already be legal if the GOV could figure out how to tax it. They don't give a fly'n shit; it's all about the $. Crime would go WAY down and they'd have to recoup the dough somehow that'd be missin' from the "don't do drugs" campaign and the lack of FEDERAL assistance they're rakin' in from the "drug problem" IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. I know I'm not the only who understands this...I haven't blazed up since I was a teenager. I buy a 12 - pack and I don't drive. ETOH is taxable, go figure.

the government wouldn't really be able to regulate it. you can't really grow your own tobacco or make your own beer but marijuana really is a weed and grows anywhere. so regulation is a joke. unless you had to buy a license to grow it. like a driver's license and every year an inspector would come check out your grow op. and renew your license just like on your car. i'd pay 100 dollars or even 2 a year to be able to grow pot. have different types of licenses for how much you grow or if you sell

And for your information, it is impossible to overdose and the only drug related deaths that occur with marijuana are vehicle related, so anyone who's driving while smoking is simply irresponsible and stupid. In reality, when you consider all the drugs we have in our society, its probably the safest. Safer than caffeine, alcohol, etc.

@ohmahh You are blatantly ignorant of the truth. You are ignoring all of the facts. It can lead to leukemia in your children for one. Memory loss. Emotional impairment. Anxiety or paranoia. Are you denying the negative impact it has on families? Smoking pot causes some changes in the brain that are like those caused but cocaine, heroin, and alcohol. Risk of heart attack more than quadruples in the first hour after smoking marijuana. I am full in favor of medical marijuana but not anything else.
