My Southern western trainer friends, as well as some friends with race horses attach a heavy thick rope to their halter. Making it long enough to barely drag the ground, and for the horse to step on it occasionally with a front foot. Let them wear this a couple of days or so, and they learn how to lead and give their heads. Basically the horse teaches itself. Works for them anyway.
@shycountrymiss That is interesting! I have only seen that method used to help in catching horses. I don't know anyone who used it to teach giving to the halter! Thanks for sharing!
