I simply cannot understand why somebody would want to shoot these magnificent birds! Highly social and intelligent godlike creatures, enchanting and magical, they are to be respected and adored. I truly love geese.
i miss hatching baby chickens and having them imprint on me. i was like 4 years old and my mom had a incubator and one of the chicks hatched and saw me when it hatched so it thought i was its mommy and it used to follow me around in the house all the time.
Bill Lishman is the Renaissance man of our time. I followed a link to his website because I was interested in seeing his underground home (which is AMAZING), and I only learned about his migratory activities later. A truly inspring individual.
@Nofarewell ....Yes. The movie is a fiction but many of the facts were gleaned from this project and from Lishman and other real characters. For three seasons (1993, 1994, 1995) geese were raised and led on migration behind planes. During the last season, the birds did double duty as actors in the movie and as subjects of this migration experiment. I was part of the team for the experiment.
@thegools That's so great to hear! I'm a huge fan of geese and the movie Fly Away Home. It inspires me so much to get my own geese in some time! I always cry when I watch the movie and I'm 33 and male. Thanks to you and other people, we can make a difference and respect and adore birds like geese and cranes.
