I´m not sure what this synthesizer does and its probably very complex, but to be honest not at all enjoyable. Whats the back story on this piece of work?
This takes me back to the likes of KMFDM and Front Line Assembly. Wicked nasties; my classical composer wants to punch it but my acid rocker wants to fcuk it. ;) Peyote anyone? Seriously though, it doesn't do flute sounds?
The Neuron has gradually become my favorite synth. It has been fascinating to use from the beginning when I bought it in 2008 and after playing it for a while it is beautiful in a way like no other synthesizer. It also can be very metallic and weird like in this demo. Axel Hartmann created something totally unique and wonderful, to bad only 300 ever built. The mind of the Neuron begins to link with the musician and it begins to harmonize attempting to create with you in your style.
Heh heh...there was a software version of this keyboard too, as a VST plug-in. I saw both the keyboard and software were selling cheap from German stores after they were discontinued.
nice video and sound ya go there but I really have never liked these synths. had one few years back and all it did was break down. everytime I sent it off to be repaired they sent it back and within a week or so it encountered another cock up. asked an expert and he said it was beyond repair and worth next to nothing and was only usable as spare parts. not sure if it was just mine that was faulty but 4000 quid and all it did was break down.
While I do appreciate that this is making some pretty sweet sounds...they are just sounds...Any way to maybe combine the unique characteristics of this synth into a melody?
It depends on how you use it. If you know how to use a sampler and be able to create interesting and perfect loops etc. I never got a neuron but I can create very interesting soundscapes or whatever with the morph tool from the same software supplier. I think I would still buy it.
You would be a fool to overlook this Keyboard.. This keyboard is a monster.. This machine is made for sound designers just like the roland v-synth gt.If you are looking for new innovative sounds this machine is for you.
finally someone posted this synth.. I have one that BROKE on me a few months after I bough it! The HD inside is delicate .. or just bad luck.. It has a very 'metallic' tone to it (around 2:10) overall. Def overpriced but worth it if you can get it for a good deal.. you prob won't in this market!!
Neuron's synthesis engine is powered by the technology found in neural networks. It uses models as the basis for sound generation. In conceptual terms, these models are comparable to samples, and they are derived by analyzing audio samples. This means that in principle, any auditory event can provide the raw material for creating and processing sound in Neuron.
An extremely non-conventional instrument WAYYYYY outside the box....that's what makes it great! And a bit ahead of its time: the masses aren't ready for this yet. Thank you so much for posting.
Interesting sound FX, but can you play something in a more musical context? From this video, I have no idea of how this synth can have any practical musical application.
this sounds like an amazing synth , would love one

@kingofkeyboards So what did you do with it? There are sites with enough help to repair it

Whoooooly shit! IT ROCKS! What kind of synthesis is that? Substractive or other? Off course it's digital, isn't it?

@604psysutra604 neuron synthesis, only 2 synths use it, great for creating perfect sine waves!

Crazy and unusual. I'd own one as well if I could afford. Thanks for putting this up
as there are not too many vids of this synth. A lot of jerkoffs on youtube huh ? Too bad for them. Keep making noise !!

Great for sound efx--can it also produce anything musically useful?
Microsloth 2 years ago 3
Not really. That's why it failed. It was an overrated efx board, not much else. Be glad that you didn't waste $5,000 when these were available.
