Olá. Eu sou do Brasil e tenho um CS-9 vintage, com certeza ele é mlehor que o Boss CE-2. É mais transparente. Quero parabenizar pelo seu trabalho. Muito bom. Um abraço.
You really should run your distortion before the chorus. This will have the same effect as running the chorus through an effects loop, as most player would.
As far as this review goes, they sound pretty similar. I agree with the general consensus of the comments that the Ibanez is brighter and colder (not necessarily bad by the way - I prefer it), but stereo chorus versus mono is no comparison. Stereo is the only way to go!
Can you tell I have an Ibanez bias? Oh well... Anyway, good video and comments.
I liked better the ibanez....the ce 2 seems to emphatize more the mids, whilt the cs9 is more trebley...I am curios how the ibanez should sound with a less twangy guitar!
I've used both since the 80's and I prefer the ibanez tone, ESPECIALLY when using it in a stereo rig....no comparison, also you want a pedal that fit's within the band and doesn't get washed out ..the cs9 does a good job of that.
if your just sitting in a bedroom either pedal will work fine for chorus
Hm, according to what I've heard/read, Andy Summers would disagree w/ you:) Then again, three-piece situation there, so "cutting through the mix" probably wasn't the borderline-paranoid concern that it tends to be in most bands now~shrug~
Overall, I'm surprised and disappointed at how different these sound! I'm disappointed b/c I like the watery quality of the CE-2 better, but the CS-9 is the only one of the two in production:(
I have just ordered the Ibanez cs-9! I think it sounds a lot, and I mean a lot better than the Boss pedal, it`a whole lot clearer. I think the boss sound is sort of drowning. But It`s hard to tell, before I`ve tried the bouth of them.
Wow... I went to post an informative little thing about buffers and Maxon>Boss, but fuck this new youtube bullshit. The old mantra: "If it ain't broke, let's fix it and make it worse... "
Sorry dbenc. The Maxon is going through the Boss buffer. I own both. IRL, the Ibanez/Maxon is a better, fuller, richer sounding chorus, that also does stereo.
Best chorus Ive ever heard is the Boss Dimension and the Boss Digital Space-D. They don't have such a high vibrato effect when you turn up the speed, so it sounds much more dreamy and natural. That Ibanez is a tad cold sounding but I like that it has presence and sounds great with od.
And dark. Ibanez is brighter but little bit cold but the brightness is the way to be heared. Boss is better with cleans and as a sauce, when the Ibanez is better with crunchy tones. Should i pick the Ibanez from the Ebay...
The boss is a little more subtle, the ibanez has more of a cutting sound that may be better to cut through. I think I like the boss best though I mostly tend to favour Chorus pedals that have a mix control so that you can make them really subtle.
great demo. i still have my ce2 which was made in 1982.
after 27 years still works perfectly unlike my 90's tcelectronic chorus. tc told me it's an 18 year old pedal and they don't have the parts to fix it. kind of sad.
the boss is smoother sounding than the ibanez.
when playing on stage with my 12 piece horn band any difference in sound is not noticeable.
The boss is more saturated and warmer - the Ibanez is far more brighter and pokey. Nice review though! Hairy Bikers!! FTW! lol... Goerdies. Some of the playing sounds like.. the intro to 'run to you' by bryan adams and also Sound garden. I might buy a Chorus pedal for my board soon.

My choise is Ibanez. Cause i use chorus almost with little overdrive when playing rock ballads etc. The Boss is little too mello
