  • Olá. Eu sou do Brasil e tenho um CS-9 vintage, com certeza ele é mlehor que o Boss CE-2. É mais transparente. Quero parabenizar pelo seu trabalho. Muito bom. Um abraço.

  • You really should run your distortion before the chorus. This will have the same effect as running the chorus through an effects loop, as most player would.

  • Is there any difference between the vintage ibanez and the reissue?

  • any chance of doing a ce-1 vs ce-2 shootout :) ive heard theres quite a difference but never heard them side by side

  • and why ?

  • BEAUTIFUL ....witch one do yo prefer

  • They're very close. Once you add the rest of the band You'll never tell the difference

  • theres nothing like the originals

  • Best chorus demo I've seen on here mainly coz of the range of tones you go through. Great job! Ta!

  • I prefer the Ibanez one, myself.

  • what is the music at the beggining? thanks

  • Cool man!

  • wonderful accent; what country are you front man?

  • North of England. G

  • @blondegraemey Newcastle, I presume? Funny, how you seem to consider the North of England as a separate country!

  • I like the intro...sounds cool!!!

  • As far as this review goes, they sound pretty similar. I agree with the general consensus of the comments that the Ibanez is brighter and colder (not necessarily bad by the way - I prefer it), but stereo chorus versus mono is no comparison. Stereo is the only way to go!

Can you tell I have an Ibanez bias? Oh well... Anyway, good video and comments.

  • Hey Graemey!!

Excellent video mate!!! I'm thinking of getting rid of my Boss CH1 and wonder of I should get the CS9 or the CE2.

    Cheers!!

  • I liked better the ibanez....the ce 2 seems to emphatize more the mids, whilt the cs9 is more trebley...I am curios how the ibanez should sound with a less twangy guitar!

cool gear cool playin cooll demo

  • how are these compared to small clone?

  • Better in my opinion. Not so mechanical sounding. G

  • graemey, have you used a MXR stereo chorus? Been curious how that vintage 3 knob pedal compares to the best.

  • CE-2 THE BEST!!!

  • They both sound great

  • What's the song at the begining?

  • I've used both since the 80's and I prefer the ibanez tone, ESPECIALLY when using it in a stereo rig....no comparison, also you want a pedal that fit's within the band and doesn't get washed out ..the cs9 does a good job of that.

if your just sitting in a bedroom either pedal will work fine for chorus

  • @stymye

Hm, according to what I've heard/read, Andy Summers would disagree w/ you:) Then again, three-piece situation there, so "cutting through the mix" probably wasn't the borderline-paranoid concern that it tends to be in most bands now~shrug~

  • Overall, I'm surprised and disappointed at how different these sound! I'm disappointed b/c I like the watery quality of the CE-2 better, but the CS-9 is the only one of the two in production:(

  • still ce-2 bro...

  • oh chorus + distortion is so cool !

  • I have just ordered the Ibanez cs-9! I think it sounds a lot, and I mean a lot better than the Boss pedal, it`a whole lot clearer. I think the boss sound is sort of drowning. But It`s hard to tell, before I`ve tried the bouth of them.

  • Ibanez seems kinda shrill.. Treble-ly-ish.. Boss seemed warm.

  • Wow... I went to post an informative little thing about buffers and Maxon>Boss, but fuck this new youtube bullshit. The old mantra: "If it ain't broke, let's fix it and make it worse... "

Sorry dbenc. The Maxon is going through the Boss buffer. I own both. IRL, the Ibanez/Maxon is a better, fuller, richer sounding chorus, that also does stereo.

  • Hey does the cs9 have any problems with being excessively noisy, or tone sucking?

  • No, not at all. G

  • @blondegraemey

Is that true of the reissue as well? :/

  • @blondegraemey

    Who wrote the opening music?

  • I had a CE2 and loved input went bad on it so sold it and have missed it ever since. I just picked an old 80s CS9 and gotta say IM IN LOVE!

  • Best chorus Ive ever heard is the Boss Dimension and the Boss Digital Space-D. They don't have such a high vibrato effect when you turn up the speed, so it sounds much more dreamy and natural. That Ibanez is a tad cold sounding but I like that it has presence and sounds great with od.

  • My choise is Ibanez. Cause i use chorus almost with little overdrive when playing rock ballads etc. The Boss is little too mello

  • And dark. Ibanez is brighter but little bit cold but the brightness is the way to be heared. Boss is better with cleans and as a sauce, when the Ibanez is better with crunchy tones. Should i pick the Ibanez from the Ebay...

  • NICE!!!

  • you have many pedals :O

  • hey man, can you record with a harmonics electro voice box through a laptop

  • i like the CE-2 more, its a little warmer and less tinny.

  • @monosynthluv Bang on the money! People like to call it brighter, I like to call it harder to control!

  • Neither are true bypass right?

  • Right. both are buffered fet switching. G

  • I liked then both! Great comparison vid graemey!

  • Distortion works better with the ibanez. Great review!

  • nice one G the sound of the 80's is back.

Another great shoot-out as always mate!

  • nice video, thanks man!

  • Ibanez sounds brighter

  • @alterdcrash are you talking about pickups? or wood quality?

  • The boss is a little more subtle, the ibanez has more of a cutting sound that may be better to cut through. I think I like the boss best though I mostly tend to favour Chorus pedals that have a mix control so that you can make them really subtle.

  • hey bg

great demo. i still have my ce2 which was made in 1982.

after 27 years still works perfectly unlike my 90's tcelectronic chorus. tc told me it's an 18 year old pedal and they don't have the parts to fix it. kind of sad.

the boss is smoother sounding than the ibanez.

when playing on stage with my 12 piece horn band any difference in sound is not noticeable.

    peace,

    rich

  • not a big fan of chorus -- but if i was, i'd probably pick up the CE-2.

  • i haver the boss chorus, i use it for playing the police and def leppard and it sounds aweseom

  • greamey you finally did my CE-2 justice

although the ibanez kinda sounded like the 70's type chorus pedals

  • The boss is more saturated and warmer - the Ibanez is far more brighter and pokey. Nice review though! Hairy Bikers!! FTW! lol... Goerdies. Some of the playing sounds like.. the intro to 'run to you' by bryan adams and also Sound garden. I might buy a Chorus pedal for my board soon.
