Well, it sounds awesome... from what we hear of it. However some editor decided 'music' would be more appropriate and we're left guessing. People like the sounds of electric motors screaming their torque-laden howls. Don't piss it over.

@david1991rules4life Again, it needs gears to achieve greater speeds. Yes, you can connect the motor to the wheels directly, but you won't be setting any speed records unless you have a highly advanced motor that can spin upwards of 20,000+ rpm... without destroying itself... The Tesla's motor spins around 15,000+, but only has one gear, which makes it have a top speed around 120mph... And rpm? The motor spins doesn't it, therefore Revolutions Per Minute. If something's wrong, please correct me.

Sorry if this seems stupid but I'm curious :- Why does the car have a standard racing gearbox?

I thought one of the big things with electric motors is that they produce maximum torque at any RPM? (As opposed to a petrol or diesel engine that has a relatively narrow torque/rpm band and you need multi-ratios to stay within it.)

@Sn0wc4t Actually these electric motors, the ones used in EV's and such, produce max torque at zero rpm through a few thousand rpm, and then the torque drops off linearly as rpms increase (the ones that I've seen anyways). The reason for the gearbox is to achieve higher speeds. Every motor has a rev limit, therefore you need a transmission in there somewhere to go faster...

Once the power ketches up there'll always be one problem, the sound. v8 <3.. but i guess hydrogen has a "harsher" sound than gasoline so maybe we'll still have a decent sound.

Sorry buddy - do your homework. Nobody's going to park a car at a motor-sports event while it recharges. It's just as easy to swap out a low battery with a fresh one as it is to put more gas in the tank. In a few short years, you'll get to watch electric cars DOMINATE at major motor-sports events, an not just on the drag strips.

Like the concept, don't like the car, hate the video.

Was it not possible to make wheel openings that were less than 20 cm from the top of the tire? How about a design that wasn't uglier than a crossbreed of a Daytona Prototype and a Pontiac Aztec?

Also, speeding up the video? This isn't a NASCAR video from 1953. People CAN tell that it's fake.

That said, I applaud the effort, and hope to see a better-looking GT car soon, in a video that isn't horrible.
