I don't think he is innocent... Sure, the trailer might try to portray him as sympathetic, but let's ask ourselves - if we were being chased by a group of murderous parents, wouldn't you want to make them believe you didn't do anything?

Another reason I don't think he is innocent is the fact that he starts to kill kids in the movie... If he was innocent, why would he go after the KIDS? Why not the people that killed him?

It was parents of Springwood that created the monster that is Freddy. It does not matter if was inocent to begin with or not because after his death he became the dream master a man with the ability to enter who ever dream he desires. After Freddy dies he desides to take revenge in worse possible way by killing the children of parents that burned him alive.

Take a closer look ag the trailer and you will that was actor Clancy Brown that threw ball fire into boiler room causing Freddy's death. This makes sense because actor Clancy Brown plays Nancy's father in the film and both Nancy and her father live at 1428 Elm Street hence the name A Nightmare On Elm Street. The reason why Nancy is on top of Freddy's list of victims is because she is the daughter of his murderer!

Damn straight. Originally Freddy used a glove with razor fingers to murder children - the same weapon he uses in his dreams. Freddy was evil before he died. Making him innocent then turning into a razor bladed psycho evil fella would ruin Wes Cravens original story. Like if they gave Michael Myers a reason he killed people - oh wait they did! What they should have done for a robert cameo:

Robert plays a kids parent or friend or someone he could really trust.

Then in a nightmare, Freddy(Jackie) pretends to be robert to trick the kid, when the kid gets close, Robert should point the glove and talk in his Freddy voice, then you get a reaction shot of the kid. Then Jackie Freddy is shown.

halloween was great I thought. It was very disturbing but I think thats what the originals were supposed to be like. A very disturbed psycho path.

The only good nightmare on elm street was the first one. The others tried to put the humor in which took away the scariness. Freddy is going to be more ruthless now.

Bay is sure kicking it on the horror remakes. TCM 03 and 06 were the best so far. Friday 09 was decent. We will see Englund will be forever Freddy Krueger. Thank goodness Rob Zombie was not able to trash any of those after he already trashed Halloween.

Im an enormous fan of Nightmare on Elm Street and Wes Craven but am still looking forward to this because despite Michael Bay being all style, no substance, nothing can ever ruin the immortality that wes craven created for krueger. and as for the new freddy burn look. I cant quite get a good look, but jackie earle haley looks promising. we'll just have to wait and see..........as if most of us havent been waiting long enough....

SRF14 Actually the film is produced by Brad Fuller and Micheal Bay but film is directed by Samuel Bayer and he has a lot of style and substance. Samuel Bayer is great director he made Smells Teen Spirit for Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins Bullet Had Butterfly Wings he also made Zombie by Cranberries and Blink 182 Stay together for kids he also made Blind Mellon No Rain. He made videos for The Rolling Stones,Metallica,David Bowie,Marilyn Manson hes one many awards hes amazing.

Just to clarify, Bay directs = shit and Bay produces = maybe good

Bay is producing this, which means it might be good. Maybe. No Wes Craven, but most of Wes Craven's movies are pretty bad so I won't let it bother me that much. And Rorschach as Freddy with Robert Englund's blessing? That might be a good thing.
