Awesome tutorial man. I'm having a problem though. In my video I have some dialogue (mp3 recorded in Audacity). Some other audio tracks contain sound effects, music, ambience, etc. When I listen to the audio in premiere or as an exported video everything sounds fine. But when I upload the video to youtube the volume sounds really low unless I turn up the volume on youtube itself drastically. If you or anyone else knows what I can do about this please let me know. Thanks!!
Thank you so much dude! You just saved me another hour of looking on the internet for a solution to fade between regular speed audio and super speeded audio (I was trying to do it manually in time remapping but it turns out you can't use f*cking time remapping on audio... stupid program; anyways, it turns out constant gain works like a charm for what I was in need of). I am definitely subscribin'!
i need some help, how do i make the audio of a clip not to be slowed down nor fasten up, but i still want the audio to be either chipmunk or really low with being as fast/slow as the clip i changed?
@reeporaptor21 This is something you'll need a special audio application for. Premiere Pro and other editors don't have this effect. You'll have to look around some more, but I think you want to affect pitch without affecting speed.
@reeporaptor21 Audacity is a free software that can do that, you can either change the tempo (fast or slow audio), pitch (1 octave higher or lower as you wish) or the speed (change both tempo and pitch)
same here Super, verry good men i like your videos verry much,i have qustion for you sir ?ware can i download som more like this" Additive Dissolve" becose is my favorite effeckt. i know alredy the existing (Cross Dissolve transition) to premiere pro cs4"but my qustion is ware can i get more like this" Additive Dissolve"for free??? or how to make one is there a way oround??
Mate! Thanks so much! I'm an australian skateboarder too, and it's been so long since I've done any video editing of any sort, so now that I've got a brand new copy of Premiere I've been trying to re-learn everything and this was a great help. Thanks a lot, I'll be checking your other tutorials for sure.
I got damn pissed when I spent 2 hours placing the time remapping keyframes into precise position, only to find out in the end that the audio does not get mapped (I couldn't see it because I'd zoomed in 100%)!
But after watching your video, I realized I could used Speed Duration, ripple delete, then another Speed Duration WITHIN, and so on until I get a gradual decrease and increase-back in speed! It worked for me. Thanks
Bravo to your clever yet simple workaround... I just wish I understood Adobe's logic in including time remapping/ramped slow mo in Premiere, yet not binding the audio by default!
They really should bind the two instead of giving us editors (and skaters) the task of creating our own slow mo audio, or jumping between Premiere and After Effects.
Speaking of which, Adobe really needs to combine both programs... or easy jumps between the two (like Photoshop and Image Ready). Anyway, cheers & thanks!
This feature exists in the same form on FCP, I guess the audio part as simple as we may think it is to do, requires more coding. I think it's because it sells more copies of After Effects. :)
When i tried to unlink the video from audio i clicked unlink but i still wasn't able to grab them separately. Then i clicked Synchronize->Ok. I was able the grab them separetely but when trying to link them back..the link button dissappeared and the Synchronize button became gray...is this a bug or someting
you are SO fucking annoying, make the tutorial about 'slow motion audio' not how to cut and move clips and use the ripple tool. this vid should be about 1:00
And you seem like a barrel of laughs. This was an early tutorial for me. I'd never done them before so - yeah it could have been way shorter. If you learned something for free then I hope you can appreciate that. If you didn't gain anything but frustrated lost time then I can't help you get that time back. Get your free tutorials from somewhere else. Hope you feel better for leaving your constructive criticism.
hey.. umh.. when i add this video into adobe premier pro cs3 it plays it all and everything but the video in the the screen to see it it's all going way to fast but the audio isen't going fast it's going normal speed so whats wrong with the video? and what should i do?
You'll need to find out what the properties of the video clip are. Open it inside Quicktime and hit Ctrl+I. A window pops up showing properties of the clip. List them out for me. See if I can tell what's happening there. The video appears to not be a clip captured with PPro from a tape based camera.
Try clicking on the little triangle on the top right of the program monitor and select the playback settings (bottom of drop down list). Inside this you need to make sure the desktop audio button is on. If its set to external audio device that will go to the camera, and your sync will be set to the camera not the desktop. Hope this helps.
if i have an audio clip that was recorded in 2-channel stereo, how do i merge both left and right channel together so it plays the same sound on both left and right channel.. In sony vegas you can right click and combine audio channels but how is it done in Adobe Premiere Pro??
ok so i wanna put noises like, explosion, lightning, and whatnot...and i know you can genereate some noises on audacity like whitenoise, a bleep and whatnot but i cant use em in adobe cuz it doesnt support the file type...do i have to just take like a 1 second part of a song and use that? or is there like a plugin i can use?
you'll need to make the audio a CBR mp3 or WAV or AIF file and PPro will import it. You then trim it down. CD files can be ripped with Windows Media Player to make either of the formats. Audacity can export/Save As these formats too.
yay! it worked haha...ok, well do u know if there is a way to open samples such as explosion, fire, lightning, thunder etc.? such as a plugin not defaulted on appcs3? besides hoping you can find a quick section in a song? lol
They were that way from capture years ago when premiere used to capture in DV type 1 (a seperate avi and wav file) this is before it went pro. You can move the video and audio separately by unlinking them. right click the clip in the timeline and unlink. Or you hold down the alt key when you select the layer you want to move/delete.
He slowed down the first version of the audio and video copied the first version of video pasted into video layer two time remapped it to match the original audio and adjusted the transition of the copied video from normal to slow mo so it looked smoother and removed the original video....if i followed it right..

You want to make stereo into mono? Right click the clip in the project panel and go to Clip>Audio Options>Breakout to mono
then use the mono audio in the timeline.
