But with the changes the habs had in the off-season, and with the young guys evolving, we are no doubt contenders this season, Detroit being the favorites.
Habs have a lot of upside. That being said, a lot went right for them last season. This year will be a litmus test for whether the Habs are for real or not, one good regular season doesn't make contenders.
Kovalev had a career year wit the Pens then his play fell off for years after. I'm not saying his play will fall off this year, but again he still has to prove himself in that regard.

Wrong - they signed him for $7 mil on a one year (which will actually be about 3 months, depending on whether the 'Nucks make the playoffs) contract.
Giving the Leafs the option may not have been what was best for Mats but in the end Im sure the 4+ Mil per month will buy him a lot of friends ;-)

Habs had a losing record against the Leafs last season and were exposed as over acheiving in the playoffs.

Leafs didn't make the playoffs, just like the year before, just like this year. The habs are so far ahead of the leafs it isn't even funny anymore. I mean, we actually got better in the off season and still have a chance to get Sundin, you have a bunch of 3rd-4th liners and that's about it. Happy rebuilding!

No is arguing that the Leafs are better than the Habs. The fact that the Habs struggled against the Leafs points to the reality that the Habs are overrated.
At least the Leafs know they suck and are rebuilding. The Habs had a good regular season and were expose as mediocre in the playoffs. Habs fans are delusional if they think the Habs are serious contenders.
Least we forget Kovalev history of inconsistency and that Price is no where near ready to be a number one goaltender.

Kovalev has gotten consistent last year, which is a good sign, coupled with the fact that this year is a contract year for him. As for Price, it was his first NHL season, he will definitely be better this year. I admit that habs sucked in playoffs, and we possibly lost to the leafs in regular season, just as we did for other teams too. But with the changes the habs had in the off-season, and with the young guys evolving, we are no doubt contenders this season, Detroit being the favorites.

Habs have a lot of upside. That being said, a lot went right for them last season. This year will be a litmus test for whether the Habs are for real or not, one good regular season doesn't make contenders.
Kovalev had a career year wit the Pens then his play fell off for years after. I'm not saying his play will fall off this year, but again he still has to prove himself in that regard.
Price has huge upside, he's just no there yet.
IMO Pens, Flyers, Sens, NYR and NJ over Habs.

Wherever he goes, i hope he can do it with a team that will get him a cup. As for the leafs, i hope they tank the season to get a chance at tavares.
