I'm a month late, so maybe you're curiosity has faded, but '-kun' can be used for girls when the one addressing them thinks them like one of the guys, or stronger like a guy; it's more familiar than '-san' and not as cutesy as '-chan'. And Kira is good friends with Hinamori since their academy days, hence, -'kun'. ^_^
