  • How do you make for say a "face" change color without adding a new layer or fill bucket because whenever i do it usually covers the whole pic?

  • how can you put a picture on a picture

  • THX, this helped mee sooohh muchh ^^

  • I got a Question, how do i edited, lets say layer 7, but i am editing layer 8, how can i go back and edit layers? It will only let me edit the last lay i have made?

  • I'm not fully sure I'm understanding your question, but i think i am.

To work on a given layer, you need to select that layer in your Layers window, by clicking on it -- this should highlight that layer in the layers window, indicating that it is the active layer, in other words, the one you will be editing if you take any actions.

So if you'd created layer 8 and then wanted to draw on layer 7, click on layer 7 in your Layer window, and any drawing you do next will now be on layer 7.

  • please more paint tuts also there really gd! thx again!

  • hey ozwalled,i put all 3 of yr tuts in my playlist. im tryin to build a website and i got some cool graffiti text so im trinyg to color it in....everything worked right but im trying to use to colors( 1 at the botom and 1 at the top of the text. i tied to use the the gradiant tool, linear (reflected) then transparency mode.this is the effect i want but cant seem to get it jus right with 2 colors...(expl) drw a big circle fill in top w/blue bottom w/red and leave white in the middle. any ideas?

  • in my project i have a backround layer, and another layer with a dog. how do i make a layer ,just like the dog, to be slightly transparent and go behind the dog, but infront of the backround?

  • woah you sound like tht giraffe from madagascar :P awsome!

  • how to put back the color choices thing i deleted it! and my layer thing

  • Try selecting Window/ Colors.

  • How do you do that with a picture of someone?

  • You're asking for something more complicated (and quite different).

Still, what you COULD do with a color photo is make a new layer, double click it in the Layers window to see its properties, and reduce its opacity, and then just paint onto your image on that layer with the colour you wish to use. It's certainly not a perfect way of doing things, but it may do the trick, depending on what you're trying to accomplish.

If that doesn't help, please provide more detail about what you want to do.

  • Try selecting Window/ Layers. Or, press F7.

  • its only cuz she probrably did it on the backround sheet. but its a common mistake. good job ozwalled

  • Is it possible to combine images via different layers? Like, say I wanted to add a fancy background behind another fancy pic and couldn't make the pattern myself. Is it possible to to add a second layer with the image I want behind my other image with no/transparent background?

  • Nevermind, You pick import file in the layer folder and pick the picture you want to make as a layer.

  • That is indeed one way to do it. Always great to see people fiddling with things and figuring them out on their own -- it really is a wonderful way to learn. :D

  • Yeah. Although thanks for the video. Without it, I'm not sure if I would have been able to get a grasp on the program without the videos. Oh, if you want I can PM you the picture I made.

  • Sure! I'd love to see what you came up with.

  • Very good tutorial, keep up the good work!

    Claude

  • To copy a file, i guess one way to do it in paintDotNet would be to open the file, then File/Save As, and save it under a different name.

Alternately, outside of PaintDotNet, you could copy the file itself from a folder and paste the copy of it whereever you wanted to paste it.

  • thankQ for this. it was cool.

  • Excellent. I'm always guilty of forgetting to pull up a new layer before I draw, but you just salvaged a drawing of mine! Thank you!

  • i have a queston 4 you, ok

  • can you see fred

  • Your videos are a great help, thanks!!

  • Hi great videos, Thanks for the help and hope you get lots of viewers, subscribers (like me) for your hard work!

  • Hiya, I was wondering how you take an image and outline it, then turn the entire image a different color.

IE- An F-15 Eagle in the sunset. How would you go about turning the F-15 into a solid blue, then adding some wave like effects to it?

  • you can just use paint buket/ ty any way

  • Sure, you can use it to fill a solid colour, but you also might have to fiddle with the tolerance... and what if I want to use multiple colours inside the lines?...

The idea here was supped to be to show people a basic technique that they can probably be more versatile than the simple paint bucket. :)

  • oo ok ty

  • thanks that helped :)

  • You can also change colors in a pic using the layer properties.

  • What? How? All I'm really seeing there is the ability to change layer (blending) mode and opacity...

  • Yep

  • Create, two layers. On the first layer, select the color you want and then click the fill tools. Then select it all or ctrl a. Then go to edit options and then click fill selection. Now deselect. On the second layer draw something. Then in the layer properties, change the layer to overlay. Then select the ouside of the drawing(it should be all white). Then click layer one and then hit delete.

  • The gradient tool can also use in the same way to make shadows.

  • And you can do either order, starting on layer one or layer two.

  • A video discussing the gradient tool and some basic uses of it is most certainly in the works. Subscribing is the best way to see all new videos as they are released. :)

  • Can you show how to use the gradient tool?

  • i agree with above... or below. werever limelight is

  • Good job Ozwald! I love your videos man.
