  • i try to change my autorun.txt into autorun.inf but it won't, please tell me how to do fix this

  • @saifullahrahool make a new text document...open it ..write that things in the video ...and save it whatever you want ( ex. "soul.inf ), and than right click and rename it to "autorun.inf", but this change of icons doesn't work on xp..

  • but this is good for windows7 ?

  • good tutorial. although i prefer using "folderchanger". It can change drive, flash and even folder icons with just dragging and dropping of the mouse. It can be found by google searching for "folderchanger"

  • Good Job. If you try to save the file as "autorun.inf" but insists that is changes it to autorun(2).inf, then just open it up, type in what you want, and save as and then replace the autorun.inf and then it will work

  • how you play xbox 360 games........can i have the xbox controller icon plz

  • r there any limitations for the .ico size and resolution? coz i can't get it to work, even after a restart

  • your amazing, thanks

  • I have a Qestion: Look I just got a WD TV Live. So i can watch my movies from my exernal disc. but when i come in to my movies there is just an icon of a map. How can i change that Icon to a pic from the movie?

  • does this work for removable devices...for example the nexus S Mobile phone???

  • It keeps giving me bullshit about other "autorun.inf" files existing and shit so it renames it as autorun (2) and shit its really anoying

  • I love the idea of hidden folders thank you :)

I didn't know that before, thumbs up

  • ok i got it for vista users, it wont change automatically right? You need to go to organize, layout, menu, tools, folder options, view, and unclick the check that says, "Hide extensions from known file types". Then click apply and Ok. Now go to your still text document that says, "autorun.inf.txt" right click it and go to properties and delete, ".txt" from the name. After you should get a file extension notice and voila! your done.

  • i did try this. autorun.inf file is not geting saved in my drive, don't know where its going. Tried by checking through start->run->cmd whether geting invisble , but its not invisible too. (i hv desktop.inf file in drive for background picture in drive.) , wt should i do now?

  • @tuntikamat Try saving it somewhere else, and then moving it to your drive.

  • @xblabberx i did try that but same result & even tried by saving it in other drive,, it geting saved there but icon didnt changed.

  • Hey Bud! I love what you did here but can you find out how to do it for 7? first of all I tried making the notepad doc into an inf....no dice it doesnt change. ._.

  • >.< doesnt work on xp

  • @111Agent111 Yes, it does, because that's what I'm doing it on and that's what I did it on IN THE VIDEO.

  • @111Agent111 haha retard

  • @drybones234 No, you can just add the line of code under [autorun]

  • can it be png

  • @epacsenur575 no it cannot. the ico is short for icon and the computer is programmed to work with extensions as this. if you try it as png, it will just be looked at as a picture and nothing more. you can convert it with gimp or the risky lazy way and change the extension from png to ico. thats not reccomended but its possible...

  • @Nick1921945 You can also convert it by Irfanview. And changing the file extension won't work.

  • well, i want to change an icon of a fake virus. but i cant open it like a folder, u know, to put a autorun and a picture in. so how i change it?

  • nice theme :)

  • the file doesent want to change to setup info WhAT THE HELL and i have typed in autorun.inf HELP!

  • lol, xblabberx, your hand is quicker than my eye, I will have to give it a try. Good point about hiding the folders when your done. :-)

  • working with win 7?

  • @GreenMadness99 I do not know.

  • @xblabberx i'll chek it now and i'll give you the answer

  • fake. . . . .. . wat d ......................

  • Wait, what?

  • Thanks for this info, but I was unable to change the icon for my webcam. In your video you "open" the drive, then create the autorun.inf file.

I couldn't make the autorun folder, as all I get when Right Clicking the webcam is "View, Arrange icons...,Refresh, & Undo Copy."

(I'm running Win XP Prof. 5.1)

Any ideas? I'm hoping that there may be another way of doing this. (BTW, I noticed the Scanner won't allow any new files either, but I'm only concerned with the webcam icon.)

  • Mainly this is only for hard drives and flash drives. Sorry dude.

  • not work`n in windows 7....

  • That's cool.

  • $130

  • wow really? i got a 400gig for $100

  • @simojake13 You got ripped off. :P

  • Nice :D.

But dude why you are still using xp oO

    Why not winodows7?

  • Don't feel like updating at the moment.

  • This is really helpful and useful tutorial. My C: drive changed itself to an ugly ugly page with a corner flipped down. ONLY problem I am having with this is I don't know how to make an .ico image, could you tutorial that and I have no idea what size the icon can be until it exceeds the allowed size for icon. Great job on this.

    Thank You so much.

  • you can make an ico from any image with a great image tool called irfanview. its free. Open your picture. Click save as, and then choose windows icon, or .ico.

  • The icon replace did not work for my C drive on the int. HDD however by implementing the steps the old icon reappearred and the ugly ugly one is gone! YAY! The icon replacement did work for all of the ext. HDD and now I have personalized icons. See the old can learn from the young! * * * * *

  • Thanks!

  • Yeah, that's only for the shortcut though. It will only change the shortcut, not the bat. If you want I will make a quick video showing how to change the icon of an exe of the bat file.

  • You can't. You'd have to make it into an exe first.

  • 1000 GB? nice dude!

  • Yeaaah. I loves it. XD

  • hey nice vid... what theme do you have??? or do u actually have a mac... somce how. lol plz tell me.

  • It was a uxtheme called LeopardXP.

  • you know you can right click then change icon bowse, right?

  • In my computer? No you cannot.

  • Excellent video!

  • Thanks!
