Actually, I've seen airplanes offered as prizes in TPIR Showcases at least three times on the daytime version (the third was actually an ultralight; and the first one I saw ended kind of like this one did [IOW, the player with the plane underbid even more than here, but still won, thanks to the other player overbidding).
