Actually Bad News Bears was only half of where the sports movies full of cluches came from. Another sports movie was released that same year Bad News Bears was released that later movies took alot from. I'll bet you all can't guess which one it was.
I had forgotten about Cool Runnings, thanks for reminding me NC, loved that movie. I don't care what people say, I love most of the sports movies he talked about. Where sports movies go bad is the sequels, except Rocky.
@snoop0851 You do know that swearing does not make you look tough. ''Wipe my ass on a bible'' sure you do, and i bet you shove a cross up that 'ass' too. Let a man comment in peace. Let me take a guess, your somewhere between 8-15 years old, cried at the end of Marley of Me, and is being a prick on YouTube because that's the only place people wont know about you. Get a life.
@snoop0851 Excuse me! I don't know how or why my comment made you so upset. I was just stating a fact. But if you want to fight go on ahead. You'll just make yourself look worse than you already do. You really should apologize for swearing too. I don't want to lecture you about your tongue but as a Christian I think I probably should. Anyway, if your dumb enough to fight with me knock yourself out, sir or ma'am, just remember you wont be able to get to me. :) Have a nice day, pal!
@NarutoDude134 yeah, but still, about 2 decades of awful can't be erased by half a season of decent, and anyway this was made while they were still bad
At the end, when he was saying "The greatest sports movie cliche of all," I was actually expecting the protagonists to come from behind and win by one point by scoring a goal literally at the last second.
"What team would actually hire a child to pitch for them? (shows a picture of the chicago cubs) You sure this isn't a true story?" -Especially funny when you consider The Critic is from Chicago.
OMG!!!! I hate the slow clap. I have this kid in school who always tries to get everyone to join in but it never seems to work for him. I mean really u think after so many attempts it would just click in his head that the slow clap is just so lame cuz its the oldest montage and its beginning to really lose its edge.
when you were pretending to be the villan from karate kid you sounded like a guy from a horror game called Resident Evil Code Veronica X and his name was Alfred
I'm very cynical about movies, but I actually think of all the sports themed movies I've seen, they tend to be more good than bad. (I'm not including the really silly older Disney movies starring Kurt Russell, Tommy Kirk and invisible pirate's ghosts; which while not bad, are probably not examples of good sports movies.) Movies like Karate Kid, Lucas and Rudy are legitimately good to great. Movies such as Rookie of the Year, I mean, it's silly, but it's supposed to be silly; it's a fun movie.
"It is I who will possess the golden trophy, making me ruler of the dojo next to the Walgreens drugstore! Hah ha ha ha ha...God I need a girlfriend!"
Seriously, what is up with that baddie from "Karate Kid?" Shouldn't he be down in Argentina or something with the other escapees from the staff at Auschwitz?
@supermariosonica You and the Critic are both technically wrong. If I remember right, they were East German (Cool Runnings takes place in the late 80's, when the Berlin Wall was still up and Germany was still divided into two countries: East Germany and West Germany).
But "The Sandlot" wasn't a sports movie. They just hung out playing baseball. They did have one game against an obnoxious team, but it's not the same.
You can't really say that Radio is a sports movie because the focus isn't on the sports, it's more focused on the obstacles Radio faced to be accepted by society.
Last school year, this kid who was running for student council froze up, so I started the slow clap and an explosion of claps happened. I don't remember if he won for his grade or not
"You can do anything with an eighty's song and fast editing.*shoes montage of Critic getting ready in the morning*" Yeah, but....Critic, you're just that awesome.
The clap thing reminds me of that guy in Not Another Teen Movie when he was tring to find the right moment to do the slow clap thing and it was stolen from him LOL thats funny.
Cool Running was really good. I think they suger coated alot Rudy with his rise to the top story. Every year theres one class at my schools that shows Rudy. I notice he never mention MVP. That movie about the sports monkey.
I just thought I would mention that I am really grateful for the service you provide and that you do an amazing job. I would reccomend that you choose better points to separate the 2 parts but overall...thanks! Keep it up!
