  • I have an old raleigh racing bike with gear changers on the downtube, and the rear derailleur is super sensitive = minute adjustments lead to changes from low to high. Any idea on how to fix this

  • Freakin awesome! I bought a Wallyworld bike and want to know how things work but am too ashamed to take my $98 bike to the local pro shop to ask questions. Now I can't wait to go home and make sure it's lined up right. THANK YOU!!

  • best explanation of rear derailleur adjustment on youtube. If Performance Bikes could post an explanation for the front derailleur too, that would be appreciated.

  • what about the b-screw adjustment...?

  • Thank you so much it work. Now i can shift into 1st gear and 6th gear!

  • Here's the best feedback I can think of: went right out after watching this and got my dérailleur adjusted right away. Your directions were so clear, I almost felt like a real bicycle mechanic!

  • Since yesterday my Road Bike's derailleur has becomes 'free' i.e. when I padel it forward there is no force and the chain just rotates on it without any driving force. I hope I am describing it correctly and that it is fairly common problem. How do I fix it? Need Some help here!!!

I have just bought a frame from you guys also

way to make a good name for yourselves!

  • Thanks for the info. I'm attempting to adjust my daughters 7 speed. All gears are working exept 6 to 7th gear. And when I get to move, it makes this clicking sound. Any tips?

  • This is a good video, but would be more helpfull if you informed of where the barrel tension should be before you start (screwed all the way in, half way, what?)

    This is missing knowledge

  • I am 15 years old and decided to get my hooligan bike out and re-build it.

Its basically all taken apart and I need some parts before I put it back together but this should help me fix my gear problem. I hope I can get the bike working like new again! since its basically new!

  • I like the new computerized shifters better

  • I hate machinery. Even simple stuff like this makes my brain hurt. Mechanics will always grown rich on my ignorance, but that's okay.

  • Thank you, I bought a new bike pre-assembled, but I guess they did not adjust anything. I was adjusting the stop screws but never though of the tension of the cable. As soon as I tightened up the cable, all my problems I was having, thinking the bike was a lemon, went away. Thanks again
