  • I would move the bed back further intO the shelter in case of a storm so you don't get rained on

  • the leaf pillow is genius!

  • think your doing a great job but i live in utah lots of snow think a pitched roof would be better for winter lean toos i think suck in the winter . like your work tho

  • Those are some of the nicest sticks iv ever seen . All perfect. Awesome video your a very smart man

  • i would have never thought of zip-ties and while my primitive side tells me not to, i would totaly get a pack of them in my survival gear..

  • think this is some fucking amazeing stuff exstreamly cool to watch and well up doing this my self now, think this man deserves alot of praise for that work!

  • Best bush bed ever !!!

  • Every time he used the ax as a hammer I thought the head was gonna fly off of it

  • just want to say great movies! very informative and helpful. hope to see more!

  • only thing i would change is moving the bed back further to stay dry

  • all over the time i thought he open his head with his axe......... with so much wood u can make a quik and easy hammer without danger 4 your head and face

  • man thats amazing great work

  • this video makes my new coleman tent looks ridiculous!!!

  • Mention the three days it took you to collect all the straight branches of equal diameter.

  • Nice but you've forgotten to mention e

  • This is great to see the scotts were doing this 1,000's of years ago

  • I was hoping the author wold Zip Tie the pillow

  • Two Poles Two Sacks - ROFLMAO

  • @PlasmaEnthusiast Sometimes my sack sticks to my pole in a weird way and it makes sleeping a bit awkward

  • Now thats fucking smart

  • U r good men....

  • That is really ingenious!

  • Nice

Old aussie swag men, used to make an A frame and then do that with the sacks between it and just a paddock fence

  • between the 2 layers of sack you can stuff leaves for insulation

  • "marvelous! zzzzzz" lol awesome job.

  • i tink i saw this before but its nice to see it again. its getting close to snow season here in upper michigan which means time to build my new shelter. may use this one this year. i got some new canvas tarps i will be using instead of pine boughs though. for now anyhow. thanks. i also use zip ties but cdltpx had a good idea with using bailing wire. i have both so will give that a shot.

  • I like the zip ties but ever try bailing wire. If you are going to carry anything why not just carry a bailing wire kit you couold have that put together a fraction of the time zip ties can get expensive. That is pretty strong structure the marvel of it all is this takes a days work and you could weather almost any storm. Folks say they can't make it today and they can't if they say they can't but if they really want to they can make it. We need very little to live who said we need $100K yr.

  • this guy reminds me of my grandfather you recently passed away, alwys good with his hands and a true craftsman!!!

  • I'll have to watch the next one to see where you put the spa...

  • man what CANT this guy do with sacks?! XD

  • "Marvelous," indeed.

  • throw som cammo net ontop and sandbag walls :)

  • you are the man ;)

  • i would fill those sacks with some sort of insulation so you dont loose heat, but otherwise, 5* work!

  • @sneakyninja273

He did say (in part 3 I believe),, that the space under the bed was for hot rocks,, so insulation in the bed would not be a good idea as it would block the heat and keep it from his body.

  • hell yes!! bushcraft with zip ties!!

  • @NewJura its only to hold it in place, look at part 6 i think.

  • @NewJura do you understand why he used zip ties??

  • @Serpico261 because there more convenient....

  • @Serpico261 Cause he said in video one that you tube only gives 10 minutes of video..

  • I can't wait until I'm this old survival bushcraft guru and have nothing to do but spend the rest of my days out in the woods building amazing shelters with zipties and sleeping on sacks. (No offense, I'm actually serious!) Thumbs up dude!

  • Wow. I so wished that I could live in a place where the forest grew the straightest poles you ever seen and are the driest in the world. Did you hear how it sounded when he was pounding in those stakes? Would be great to practice buschraft with those ideal conditions.

  • thats so smart! im totaly gana try that at the survivle camp my girl scout troup is going to this september! thank you!

  • i think most of the people that are talking shit about this video could not last one night in the bush...

  • you need to edit

  • AWESOME...So now, if I'm ever lost in the woods and someone happened to drop a bunch of burlap sacks, I know how to make a great bed!

  • 1:44 a fly is lurking lol

  • whenever im in the woods i never find sacks like that! what tree does it grow off?

  • having leaves in your pillow sounds very comfortable and very quit lol

  • What are the sacks made of, or where can you get them?

    Thanks

  • @augustabirdman theyre just burlap ("potato") sacks with holes cut in either end

  • when he's done he's gonna have an open field using all that wood

  • that's awesome. I m new to this kind of stuff. got alot of store bought survialist stuff but now I m learning the primitive stuff because I think it's better use what's natural.

great way to make a bed... now I gotta buy some sacks.

  • Ikea is NOT happy about these DIY videos.

  • bring sacks even

  • think your videos are great. i do bushcraft camping when i get the time and one day be good to meet up an have a good chin wag mate keep up the good shows.

  • boy scout way is to put a blanket under the two sticks and fold them over the top (folded in thirds) the body weight keeps the blanket from coming undone. works for a casualty stretcher as well. tarps work as well

  • 1:40 , The fly is also Interested in learning this video.

  • tired to bring cot around good job

  • i would stuff the sacs for your bed with the leaves you stuffed your pillow with for more warmth under you.

  • @agil24 read up on BUSHCRAFT.

And he is only using dead wood to build with

You need to think and read up before you type out your rants.

By removing and using the dead standing wood it reduces the risk and chance of forest fires, and by not bringing in a tent and a lot of other useless crap you leave a much smaller footprint, use what is there around you try it who know you may like it.

  • During heavy rain accompanied by winds, there's a high chance that this bed will get soaked... The bed should definitely be placed at the very back of the shelter

  • @pkryane6 If you watched the rest of this video series, he actually made the front of the shelter as wide as his tarp for just that purpose

  • How many trees did you cut to build this shit?

How many plastic bands did you use and will left in the forest when you have gone away?

If you carry on a saw blade to make a bowsaw, why did you carry with a light saw already?

Why do not you take a tent instead of all this heavy equipop?

I do not see the point of all this stupid serie of videos...

  • @agil24 i bet youre just a fat lazy townie who cant apreciate or achieve hat this man has done.

  • @agil24 i bet youre just a fat lazy townie who cant apreciate or achieve hat this man has done. also just think about how many trees were used in the building of your house. and those trees were alive when they were chopped down...

just show some respect, and keep your spiteful comments to yourself. noone forced you to watch these anyway so if you dont like it, thats fine but just go away and dont force your oppinion on others. youre as bad as hitler.

  • @agil24 How many stupid comments like this have you left on other Youtube videos?

How can you imagine that a bushcrafter who has such respect for nature would leave plastic in the woods?

How many times have you tried to gather camping materials using just a hatchet or small handsaw...you even called it 'light' i.e. not good for heavy use

How many times have you spent a long while camping in the woods in a cramped tent?

I do not see the point of your questions

Pro Tip: Think before you post

  • How many trees did you cut to build this shit?

How many plastic bands did you use and will left in the forest when you have gone away?

If you carry on a saw blade to make a bowsaw, why did you carry with a light saw already?

  • Do you ever put a notch on the bed poles like you would in a log cabin? so they fit in place over the poles they are laying on?

FYI I am really enjoying watching you videos!

  • you rock! I will be trying this

  • where do you live it looks like minnesota

  • wow. i can't belive your ways of doing things!

  • when your stuffing the pillow keep an eye open for spider's and other bities as they will bites you throght the sack...

  • Top job on that bed and pillow Mate.

  • @theswimer419 - Use a knife to and push the latch up. It is a pain in the ass, but they're reusable. Don't crank down on them, and it's easier to undo then as the latch doesn't dig in as much. It doesn't work for the metal latch kind, as they're specifically to dig into the plastic. If you do want to reuse them, you can always cut them off and use them on something smaller.

  • nice

  • You know, there's an easy way to unlock those cable ties so you can reuse them again and again. It's no problem.

  • @DominickBlack tell us how then.

  • This video definitely upgrades my idea of making a wilderness bed/cot.

Where do "you" get those sacks???

  • @DominickBlack pillow case could work

  • @antoad1 hessian sacks are often treated with kerosene (and even DDT), you can dig them up after 50 years and will still not be rotten, though in the case of DDT, they'll be toxic forever.

  • @DominickBlack you don't need sacks as long as you have fabric folded into 3's

  • @DominickBlack go buy some rice bags they sell them in bulk

  • Comment removed

  • @DominickBlack patr updated you ? lol

  • @DominickBlack There just regular patatoe sacks with the bottom cut off so you can slip the poles through

  • Fantastic!! I love your resourcefulness and quality of work. Thanks for sharing.

  • I like the project, but I find it hard to understand why you would make a shelter that deep only to put the bed in the doorway. Rain doesn't just come straight down, you're not going to be as sheltered where you put it in my opinion. Why build that much roof if you aren't going to use it?

  • @rico522 I agree with this, but where im from i could see this shelter working fine because the wind usually blows from one direction. but i would still say a very nice shelter! It seems like it would be more of a home, then just a shelter.

  • Don't you find your arse slips through the gap between the sacks?

  • OUTSTANDING!! Looks very comfortable?

  • Brilliant! What kind of sacks did you use (burlap, cloth, nylon,...)?

  • nice.

  • Shelter, Bed, Pillow....

    5* Buchcraft accomodation.....

  • @RDPproject shit plus hot stones its like a spa

  • @nickagillie

lol....yeah. Stick hot stones underneath you...you'd sleep

    well warm thru the night.

  • Beautiful!

  • Nice job with the bed and pillow! I like it!

  • Nice work ,I like the way you think .Simple and effective.
