Correct me if I'm wrong. I am new to wicca, and learned about it through my Norse family background. My great grandfather (a high priest in his old group or coven, I don't know exactly what it's called.) isn't around anymore. So I can't learn from him. But I meditate to this song, it helps me connect. Is that wrong?

I don't know why, but this song first makes me relax...and then I'm singing along with it. I've always been fascinated by wiccans and pagans. And by listening to many of the chants (not all that easy to find, mind you) I think I'm coming to a better understanding.
@barrow29 First, I am an ordained minister with ULC. I feel it is my responsibility to be educated in a variety of faiths so that i can be of service to many. Also, my personal research reaches into all belief systems that I can find. I find that having even one page of references helps direct my research in a positive direction.

to any one who cares i am a wiccan but i have friends that are chrisian's. i told one friend about my faith, she took it well. but my other friend thinks there is only evil witches and she won't even listen to different. she a good friend but i want to be open about my faith i don't know if i should tell her or keep it hidden.
@gamerfun123 you shoulld really tell her, because religion is such a big part of a person's life. since she only thinks there are evil witches, talk to her about it. have a mature conversation, and tell her how it really is. if she doesn't accept it, then shes not a good friend, because that is a big part of a person. having a "friend" not accepting it, means having that "friend" not accepting most of you and what you really are.

@AlleyCatJoel Wicca goes long, long back. No one really invented Wicca, at least not that we know of. Wicca comes from old witchcraft. Gerald Gardner was just the man that introduced the world to Wicca, and/or gave it it's name.

Who is the Lord and Lady? Can you really know this to be True? How can you trust wiccan, witchcraft, druid etc.. when it is of man's own heart that conceived it. If you browse history you can see mans wickedness, how can you trust in yourselfs so much. Dont you know what is in man? Don't lose faith and wait until you feel like you can tell her. My mom is the same way and so I wait and tell her small but good things about the craft. She's slowly understanding that it isn't evil.

@Ravenwind84 I believe they are saying "as their roots reach down through the deep dark loam" loam is a type of soil composed of sand and clay. but thats just a guess.

I don't know why, but this song first makes me relax...and then I'm singing along with it. I've always been fascinated by wiccans and pagans. And by listening to many of the chants (not all that easy to find, mind you) I think I'm coming to a better understanding.

Also, my personal research reaches into all belief systems that I can find. I find that having even one page of references helps direct my research in a positive direction.

Trust me when I say that you need at least a working knowledge of another's beliefs to properly answer questions on your own religion. Nobody lives in a bubble, either. If Christianity was truly practiced and lived the way Christ had established it, people would be free to worship however their hearts were touched by the Divine.
Everyone would love their brothers and sisters as they would love themselves, and Love would truly be abundant. The Kingdom of Heaven would be realized, as It is within us- by Love do we set it loose upon Mother Earth.
The Creator would look down upon His/Her creation and S/He say, "It is good."

to any one who cares i am a wiccan but i have friends that are chrisian's. i told one friend about my faith, she took it well. but my other friend thinks there is only evil witches and she won't even listen to different. she a good friend but i want to be open about my faith i don't know if i should tell her or keep it hidden.

@gamerfun123 you shoulld really tell her, because religion is such a big part of a person's life. since she only thinks there are evil witches, talk to her about it. have a mature conversation, and tell her how it really is. if she doesn't accept it, then shes not a good friend, because that is a big part of a person. having a "friend" not accepting it, means having that "friend" not accepting most of you and what you really are.

@AlleyCatJoel Wicca goes long, long back. No one really invented Wicca, at least not that we know of. Wicca comes from old witchcraft. Gerald Gardner was just the man that introduced the world to Wicca, and/or gave it it's name.

Who is the Lord and Lady? Can you really know this to be True? How can you trust wiccan, witchcraft, druid etc.. when it is of man's own heart that conceived it. If you browse history you can see mans wickedness, how can you trust in yourselfs so much. Dont you know what is in man? You cant rise above the past, you cant stop yourselves from falling into great wickedness by your will power.

Bless those that buried their copies of Jesus' own testament, but the Vatican likes to steal any copies they are made aware of.

@ighforever When you peruse history, you'll see most detailed written history is after the rise of Christianity, and "wckedness" has risen steadily over the past 2 millenia, though personally I think that has more to do with the rise in the importance of money and power, both advocated by the medieval church to their clergy.
While we're at it, prove Jesus existed and the Bible isn't the best-selling piece of fiction ever written down by HUMAN hands. The Bible did not get faxed down from heaven

@ighforever If you really think about it the way we worship the divine or deity or whatever other name you may have for it, does not change on simple fact. We are all worshiping divinity. You call it God or Jesus and we call it the Lord and the Lady. But its all the same in the end. Now I'm not saying anyone religion is better or worse and I'm not shunning any beliefs. They are all important because, to put it in your terms, it is for God. A little bit more in your terms, God is......

@ighforever almighty and it is his choice alone to decide whether or not a type of worship of him is the wrong type. I'm wiccan and so far I have not seen the divine knock on my door to tell me that what I am doing is wrong to it. I always feel the divine's love around me. What I believe is real just like what you believe is real. This I know.

@FallenKnightXIII i completely agree with you. i used to be a christian, but i lost my faith. i got into wicca, and i have realized how beautiful everything is. i have realized how individuality is so important, and some religions are better for different people. ithink people should stop judging before they know anything about what it really is. some christians just assume that witch craft and wicca are satan worshipping. they think this because of the salem witch trials that happened years ago

I do not know your mum, but to me her opinion sounds like the one of sb who does not believe that there could be smth else than devil behind your words. Maybe it is the best to just ´let her think whatever she wants and wait until she will find the truth. If she does not listen to your words now, she will never do, like my Mum did.

If you still live at home though it is harder. its like coming out of the not quite hetero closet some parents are coolo with it others not so much. Try talking to a unitarian universalist minister they may have some ideas for you.

I don't know how I will face my father "the watch man of God". After all the brainwashing and fear implanted about hell fire, I know I will never go back to that place.
