@Chomikmk It's interesting because the French version has a mirrored meaning, not identical. In the French version, she sings about how she is in love and with him right now. In the English version, he sings how they _used to_ be together.

@gapagos Yes, in the french version by Vicky she associates blue with happiness and bliss, but the "blue" in english is sadness and abandonment... I much prefer the french version in it's positiveness and happiness, rather with the (ameriacan) english habit of saddening love

This is one of those songs where I must ask: Which came first? The instrumental, or the version with lyrics?  Did someone else add lyrics to the instrumental? (The other song with this puzzle is "Grazing in the Green Grass".) It's the darn chicken and egg argument all over again!

@Lombardia10 Yes I can in away agree with you on your comments.When I am feeling lost and lonesome I tend to come to this track and play it a few times.It brings tears to my eyes,Im not to sure if that is in the way Marty sings it or my emmotions are coming out of me I have a couple of versions of this song on cd,s, Paul Mauriat,Al Martino and Marty Robbins.Music you can listen to without getting bored with.
