Power and In The Spirit Of Things are underrated, possibly because they were largely written by other songrwiters. But the Kansas melodies and harmonies were still there and amazing.
@bvilleborn This is the kind of music Steve Walsh always wanted to do, they only had a few commercial pop songs because of him otherwise it would be all over the heads of most people. Prog Rock was overlooked by the average listeners.
@texreb66 "THAT is the 80's butt's that I remember, not these flabby flat butts of now. mm mmm mm" ha ha That is so funny that you say that because I was really young when this vid came out and that ass of hers is one of the things I always thought of when I heard the song. Another great ass reference: there is an 80's movie called I Spit on Your Grave. The ass on the cover of that movie should be in a museum.
Ah...the great Steve Morse on guitar! Steve Walsh looked really healthy and in his prime on this video. Kansas is one of my all time favorite bands, and one of the best prog rock bands on the planet. I HAVE to go see them in concert again!
I still have the 45 to this song. I bought it at Wal-Mart in 86 for $1.67. Also to those kids of today. This was MTV when it started which had music videos, not the crap that is on now. I wish I had an instrumental version of this song on 45.
@debbiechickie5 I never said I was going to stay behind, I just did! Steve was as much the cause of Streets end as anyone else. He refused to co-operate with anybody and got himself black listed with a lot of rock stations. nearly drove my car up a tree when I heard this. Part of the lyric is something I said to him, and I still kinda get pissed, but then he's used my poetry as well as my words in a lot of songs. I was with Steve in 82-85
Oh no- they did NOT use that cheesey drawing-over-the-pic effect from the Take On Me, Ah-Ha video..(yawn). I had every hairstyle shown in this video, all the cuts whether they be on chicks or dudes. How did we survive the 80's?? I'm old..LOL.
I remember being a teen when this vid came out and I never got that ass out of my mind. That's a nice ass. I don't know why so many people look down on the lighter songs---to hear people talk, you'd think pop music was the scourge of the earth. I like the deep stuff---but I like some of the simpler stuff, too.
Funny you mention that. I love this song---but I can't hear it without picturing that ass. Just like the song "Moving in Stereo"---can't hear THAT one without seeing Phoebe Cates getting out of that pool all wet and luscious.
I just wish!!!!

man, this video did not need ALL THOSE HOMOGENIZED faces. Steve Walsh standing there singing would have been enough.

This is good but the live performance on KIng Biscuit Hour is my favourite version of this.

Most importantly, what a voice....
