I went to Haiti in 1988, and I think this orphanage is the same one I spent my time there at, although it was owned/operated by a different group back then. I'm not certain, but it looks like the same place. I LOVED my time there, and wish with all my heart I could go back there again and stay much longer, and experience much more. I was only 18 at the time, and knew absolutely nothing about Haiti, but the people I met there touched my heart, and made a huge difference in my worldview forever

DIRT IS NOT a common food staple in Haiti. The DIRT BISCUITS you are referring to are actually a remedy with similar active ingredients to Kaopectate. This is not just "DIRT", it comes from a mine. As you can see in the pictures when it dries, it dries white. One biscuit costs about 10 times the price of bread. Something got lost in translation while being described to you.
