Most churches recognize that we need good, moral social contacts and all the churches I am aware of do a good job of filling that need. Are you planning to attend a service somewhere this weekend? If you are not happy there, look for another church. Many churches offer week day services as well. Churches know that we need each other but you do have to take the first step.

My niece died of SIDS a few years back, and I myself wrestle horribly with clinical major depression with thoughts of suicide. I'm reading "where is God when it hurts" by Phillip Yancey. It's not helping too much though. Why Bill? Why so much pain and suffering...and needless dying? Does God care if I kill myself?

@cmdesign01 Death and suffering is part of the human condition. We brought it upon ourselves through original sin. The good news is that we have a Savior who was flesh and blood, just like the rest of us in every way but sin, and He suffered and died for our sins. I recommend a crucifix in every home to remind us of Jesus' sacrifice when we think of our own sufferings. Jesus said "no man is greater than his master". So, when we suffer, we fulfill Jesus' words and we are imitating the Master.

I'm confused, because if aliens are demons, why did the catholic church announce in around 2009 that it wasn't a sin to believe that extraterrestials exist and that they should be regarded as our brothers.
