    He is talking about how traditionally they tell you to stretch before the workout and when your done your done. He is emphasizes the fact that you need to stretch after your workout as the last thing you do. Which is extremely effective for extreme performance.

  • actually, in the battle between naruto and sasuke in the first naruto, naruto uses a lot of hand to hand combat.

    pretty much when ever hes in 1 or 2 tail form he uses ninjutsu.

Oh and anyone who is taking martial arts as a beginner and your teacher has you stretch when you first arrive, (politely) tell him that he is not teaching in the right way. Although if you have a teacher with an ounce of respect for his methods, it wont end well for you :)

  • When we do the "Butterfly" stretch, we have a partner stand on our knees. The pain is unbearable. It is very hard to relax in this position. Any tips?

  • @theanimeloser Buddy aparently you have no idea what your talking about 85% of martial arts schools probably do some type of warm up before they stretch then they move into their more advanced moves, fighting, katas, or weapons... Almost all martial arts classes will do some kind of warm up so please dont comment with wrong information

  • At my karate class we ussually start with a light jog and practice simple sparring techniques, we then proceed with some stretching after our muscles are warm. We do the same thing at the end of class aswell!

  • You're wrong. Stretching is probably the most important part of the class. If you don't do it at the beginning your most likely going to try to do something that requires a good stretch like a front kick and pull a hamstring. A good stretch isn't meant for WARM-UPS anyways.

  • In the experience at my class. A warm up is usually done first followed by stretches. You need to warm up the muscles to do a stretch. Sorry if that is somewhat contradictory to my first post.

  • Based on my own experience I think that you should stretch a little bit before to prevent an injury and after to get more flexibility

  • i personally like to stretch before and after anything i do..stretching before seems to help loosen me up and stretching after helps get rid of any tension and soreness..but everybone's body is different..you have to do what works best for you

  • you're an idiot. static stretching reduces strength and can lead to injury if you stretch before a warm up. dynamic stretching should be done after a thorough warm up. this guy is also an idiot.  the high kicks, especially when you walk with them, are an excellent example of dynamic stretching. he is right about static stretching after excercise, however. and why wouldn't "real martial arts schools" have warmups? that's the most retarded thing i've ever heard.

  • This is good advice. Of course in Spaz Fu training, we encourage our students to stretch open their wallets after each workout. This is an often overlooked stretch.

  • ... i was told never to bounce like he is...and at my school we have to do the streck kicks like he said not to...and they usually seem to help me.

  • well the kicks can as he says rip the hamstring muscle. if you rip it ones it will be easier to rip it a second time and a third time ect. So should be pretty careful with the stretches.

    I found these tips pretty useful! Use to do these when i did tae kwon do.

    I stretch before and after practice though, bit more fully at the end though.
