The reason boxing is said to be more dangerous is because far more people have died in it or had permanent injuries. several reasons for this. 1, boxing has been around for faaar longer than MMA. I think theres only 3 recorded deaths from MMA. Furthermore because of the wide surface area and padded material of the glove its impact damage is greatly reduced but it still shakes the brain around in your head more than an MMA glove.

I am an army ranger. They use to teach boxing in the military but now they teach Combatives= jujitsu. Which means boxing is outdated and more like an old way of fighting..... Kinda like Fencing. Its not practical in fighting anymore, we combine striking and grappling to maximize our effectiveness in fighting. boxing now a days is like using a samurai sword against a m4. No chance!!

@ramosxp, every street fight I've been in against someone even moderately trained has ended with them on their backs and me remaining on my feet. Minus one time where a wrestler did get me down and we went into the gutter, I knew a little but not much. It was a rough fight, luckily there are no rules so I kneed him in the balls and got out of it.

@ramosxp, I started training in Krav Maga, and Kali knife fighting, as well as working on weapons training with firearms, etc. And I'd rather have someone with those skill-sets at my back on the street than anything. You don't want to be going to the ground in a street fight or in combat. Blood, glass, fragments of who-knows-what, etc. It's better to stay standing if possible.

The reason boxing is said to be more dangerous is because far more people have died in it or had permanent injuries. several reasons for this. 1, boxing has been around for faaar longer than MMA. I think theres only 3 recorded deaths from MMA. Furthermore because of the wide surface area and padded material of the glove its impact damage is greatly reduced but it still shakes the brain around in your head more than an MMA glove.

@CnutRexAnglorum If you knew anything about the fighters you'd know that dos santos is a heavy jujitsu practitioner with a solid ground game, he just knocks people out before he can show it, Roy Nelson is a jujitsu black belt who has almost as many submissions as knock outs, Cheick Kongo is a decent wrestler who could easily do what couture did, and Tim Silvia just plain sucks but also doesnt fight in the ufc. I am an army ranger. They use to teach boxing in the military but now they teach Combatives= jujitsu. Which means boxing is outdated and more like an old way of fighting..... Kinda like Fencing. Its not practical in fighting anymore, we combine striking and grappling to maximize our effectiveness in fighting. boxing now a days is like using a samurai sword against a m4. No chance!!

@ramosxp, every street fight I've been in against someone even moderately trained has ended with them on their backs and me remaining on my feet. Minus one time where a wrestler did get me down and we went into the gutter, I knew a little but not much. It was a rough fight, luckily there are no rules so I kneed him in the balls and got out of it.
That's the problem with people saying boxers are weaker or less. I've seen it go varying withs varying styles and people in and out of the ring.

@ramosxp, I started training in Krav Maga, and Kali knife fighting, as well as working on weapons training with firearms, etc. And I'd rather have someone with those skill-sets at my back on the street than anything. You don't want to be going to the ground in a street fight or in combat. Blood, glass, fragments of who-knows-what, etc. It's better to stay standing if possible.

MMA is not "fighting". Ask Couture to take on two opponents at once and see how far his MMA clutch/grab/choke skills take him. On the other hand, put Toney in a bar fight against 2 opponents and my guess is he lays them both out AND sticks around for the all-you-can-eat buffet afterwards.

HERE'S WHAT I HATE ABOUT MMA
A clown like Brock Lesnar can come in and turn champ immediately cus he was an ok wrestler in college and he's huge, but Toney who's a great boxer stands no chance? All these wrestlers in the sport pretend to do stand-up, but as soon as they get roughed up, they lay down on you (Jon "bitch" Fitch). Then they can ground-n-pound or submit you, but you can only wait for a mistake.
The sport's LOP-SIDED!
They should allow boxers to nut-punch when on their backs, LOL.

@neil182sr it was predictable wat randy was goin 2do; he wasnt goin 2trade wit toney like he dos in everyother mma fight; it was like watching the old ufc; striker vs grappler n grappler striked 1st; there was no mix in mixed martial arts indis fight. if ur a big fan f mma than u wil notice every1 sticks 2 their fundamental i.e. striker learns bit f ground game but 95% time strikes; if toney learns 2 defend takedowns he wil b deadly cause no 1 in mma can strike like him.

@WazDDR you're talking out of your arse, toney knew that couture was going to shoot on him, it was obvious, it's call mixed martial arts for a reason. Randy isn't stupid he know he's not as good as boxer as toney as he is an amazing boxer. but punching is a small aspect of the sport. if toney fought anderson silvas he would still get beat cus he would destroy him with kick because his muay thai is probable one of the best in the world

@neil182sr u say it was mixed martial arts but there was no mix; it was like watching a old ufc; striker vs grappler n whoever striked 1st obviously won; u say punching is a small aspect f da sport but so is grappling n kicks; i havent seen a gud mixed martial arts fight 4 ages; all we c is either a grappling fight r boxing fight in mma; u can count wen big country fought dos santos as a boxing fight but it was a very bad 1. predominately all the fighters stick 2 their fundamentals

@WazDDR there was wrestling a jui jitsu in that fight so yes it was mixed martial arts. when dos santos fought nelson it was a striking match but nelson did try to take it to the ground but dos santos had great take down defence, his stand up is boxing not mauy thai, big country is too fat to throw leg kicks effectively. obviously fighters stick to their base but they learn other aspect of the sport and take the fight to where they want to take it. toney clearly did not train for ground game

@WazDDR yeah but that's all coulda woulda shoulda. even if toney was to stand up against the likes of silvas he would still lose, that level of muay thai takes at least a decade to learn. even in that fight it would be silvas with a front kick and then flying elbow, clinch and then kneww the fuck out of him. toney knew randy was going to shoot in on him it was no secret, people say he trained in it and even king mo said he got choked out by toney. so he did train for ground game after all

@neil182sr obviously his camp is goin 2 say dat; they r hardly goin 2 say he hasnt learnt much ground game at all; im sure king mo let him apply the choke lock n therefore he tapped 4 him 2 let him go cause otherwise in a grappling match there is no way he goin 2 beat king mo. y is silva involved in this, yeh he might b able 2 beat toney even wit descent ground game n takedown defence but he also cud beat couture, brock, carwin, shogun etc

@utube793 give the man credit 4 coming in2 som1 elses house n giving it ago; now he knows how legitimate this sport is, he will respect it better n hopefully sticks wit it... if he dos this man is goin 2 b dangerous... som1 wit his boxing skills; look at brock lesnar som1 wit gr8 wrestling skills n athleticism worked n his standup n look at him now; standup is jus his stabalisers but he always goes 2 his wrestling as wit other mma fighters

@utube793 every mma fighter uses their fundamental skills, n other aspect of the sport is used as an insurance... a lot f credit 4 toney stepping up; its not easy fighting full stop whether in a boxing ring, octagan r even at a carpark but this man went 2 som1 elses house n dat takes a lot f balls

@neil182sr yeah randy wasnt stupid not wantin2 stand up wit toney but he also wasnt stupid not wanting 2 stand up wit chuck liddell in their 3rd fight, but he had no choice cause chuck had a gud takedown defence n da man got his ass kicked. u say anderson wud destroy toney, u dont know dat 4sure; wen he fought sonnen he was getting out classed in grappling n striking until da last minute f da 5th round where sonnen 4got da task in hand n looked ahead. silva was ment 2b da better striker fda 2

@WazDDR as my former master use to say a front kick keeps a boxer away and trust me it does. and in boxing you're not allow over hand punches, jumping punches and spinning back fists.. they have no idea how to handle those sort of strikes, boxing can't work in mma cus all of their weight is on the front foot not the back, it's a completely different game

@WazDDR carwin has one punch knock out power i haven't seen toney knock anyone out the first time he touches someone. it take him a couple of rounds. i've never seen a heavyweight in boxing the size of brock. toney will never make it in mma as his pedigree is just boxing, he had 9 months to train to snuff a takedown and he couldn't pull it off against a collegiate wrestler. it will take him years of training to even attempt it. boxer vs mma fighter? mma all the way

@skitfel he doesn't box though does he? he doesn't have a boxing stance,. i was born in the 80's so yeah i got that word from there and it's arse not ass as the americans do not know how to spell and i have sparred with boxes in muay thai, when you introduce kicks and knees to the equations there is not much a boxer can do

I'm an old old old school boxing fan and fought as a kid, and these MMA guys are taking all sorts of kicks to the heads and knees, and those 4oz gloves, forget about it... if we were in the days of Rome, (with NO REF TO SAVE you) and the arena's were back Toney corpse would be laying in a lions pit now for food..
