Suicide can for some be the ONLY option. A lot of people say suicide is a permanant solution to a temporary problem, I think this doesn't always apply. In my situation it was a permanant solution to a temporary problem. For my Bruder He was unable to get a job, many people hated him for who he was, etc so in his case suicide was the only option. If anything, people who suicide are far more painfully aware of how many people love them, since it is precisely this knowledge that keeps them stuck in this world full of people who incorrectly label them as selfish or weak. The idea that it is selfish also leaves out the whole issue of the mental pain. It is far more selfish to judge someone else.
All interaction is selfish, one spends time with others because they enjoy it, or they fear the consequences of not spending it (hence why we hang out with people we don't like) We fear these consequences. To decide that one's self is worthless is to judge all things that would benefit one's self worthless. As this is the only worth an individual can have. Everyone around you is then worthless. You do not love "thyself" and hence cannot love thy neighbor.
As one grows and interacts with the the objects and people around them, they make more and more of these bonds, perhaps breaking or weaking old ones. By the time one is old enough to consider suicide, to even realize themselves as a social individual, they have already formed these bonds. It is impossible to force the other participant, wether mother, father, friend, or foe, to break these bonds. These people care about you.
Suicide is an extremly selfish choice. I might dabble in social interactionism in explaining this but, so be it. When one is born, an emotional bond is formed from mother to child, and eventually, though perhaps not immediatly, from child to mother. A similar bond is fromed from father to child, and from child to father. If one lacks these standard parents, then a similar, though perhaps lesser bond is formed between one's self and the supervisor of your orhpanage or other figure of power.

One thing that annoys me about the Church and suicide is that it's spoken of almost as if it's some DELIBERATE act of defiance against God! People commit suicide for many diverse and complicated reasons and they should not be held responsible for what they have done, because in their view, there simply isn't any alternative..Countless people who have attempted it have been "church-going", God-loving people. Personally, I think the church should review it's perspective..

Suicide can for some be the ONLY option. A lot of people say suicide is a permanant solution to a temporary problem, I think this doesn't always apply. In my situation it was a permanant solution to a temporary problem. For my Bruder He was unable to get a job, many people hated him for who he was, etc so in his case suicide was the only option. Sometimes suicide IS the only option. It's the ONLY way to stop the pain. I don't think it's the cowards way out. A coward wouldn't be able to take his own life. Most suicides are not just the spur of the moment either, it is well planned and thought out.

If anything, people who suicide are far more painfully aware of how many people love them, since it is precisely this knowledge that keeps them stuck in this world full of people who incorrectly label them as selfish or weak. All interaction is selfish, one spends time with others because they enjoy it, or they fear the consequences of not spending it (hence why we hang out with people we don't like) We fear these consequences. To decide that one's self is worthless is to judge all things that would benefit one's self worthless. As this is the only worth an individual can have. Everyone around you is then worthless. You do not love "thyself" and hence cannot love thy neighbor.

By the time one is old enough to consider suicide, to even realize themselves as a social individual, they have already formed these bonds. It is impossible to force the other participant, wether mother, father, friend, or foe, to break these bonds. These people care about you.

Suicide is an extremly selfish choice. I might dabble in social interactionism in explaining this but, so be it. When one is born, an emotional bond is formed from mother to child, and eventually, though perhaps not immediatly, from child to mother. A similar bond is fromed from father to child, and from child to father. If one lacks these standard parents, then a similar, though perhaps lesser bond is formed between one's self and the supervisor of your orhpanage or other figure of power.

I got raped and my own family wouldnt believe me. Im about to go through trial for it next week and my support person just told me they wont come because theyre scared what other people might think we are doing. I'm sure you mean well and genuinely want to help people. But with all due respect, if you need to ask the question you won't understand the answer.
Suicide isn't about "problems". It's about life itself. There are holocaust survivors who still cling on to life, and there are people who have apparently comfortable lives who suicide.
It's as hard for a suicidal person to become happy like you as it is for you to understand their misery and become suicidal. Life is complex.

@MentalBadger I'm not a Christian and I think this video is a stupid thing to do for people suffering with any sort of depression because it demonstrates how useless help is when its not. I am disagreeing with you though. Suicide is not logical because being alive as opposed to being dead holds a chance of happiness which is what where all after in one format or another. Okay so the chance could be... 1/100000000000000 of being happy. Dead is 0/100000000000000. Therefore living is logical.
