My professor in college taught me one thing I will never forget, "to always defend an idea,policy, or action with the same zeal one would use to condemn it; before one could formerly refute it". Believe me when I say, I have researched the "sanctions era" and tried to defend/support the U.S gov's position to my best ability. However, there is no evidence, support, or moral imperative that justifies these actions. It is one of the times where I can only feel shame for what my country has done.

They refused a reverse veto because that would have been worse. Saddam would have used oil revenue to exterminate millions of people. His goal (we now know this because of the invasion and captured documents) was to get the sanctions lifted so he could get his weapons, invade Iran, exterminate the kurds.

1. We supplied Saddam during the 80's in the Iran/Iraq war, the only real weapon systems he had were chemical/biological and granted this was an issue, he already had materials but could not get them past the extraction phase. And there was no nuclear program but we all know that right.....

The statusticians in the UN would not have access to most of Iraq at the time because of the danger. Who would be fool enough in the UN to walk around dangerous neighborhoods asking these questions where most soldiers would not go?. So it makes you wonder how they came up with the numbers. There is no evidence to support those numbers.
The figures provided are from professional organizations (many medical) in both US and UK. There are many I have not listed including figures from WHO (World Health Organization, Geneva). Soldiers also report on YT that practically every Iraq family has lost a loved one due to war/sanctions. You no longer need to use atomic bombs to cause death. Sanctions on food, medicine and water treatment chemicals is just as effective.
Many quote Saddam as killing millions yet no one questions this number when the court case found Saddam for the 1982 killing of only 148 people. But when numbers presented from multiple western sources list Iraq deaths, everybody cries foul. If there is one source, then you can question the figures, but we are dealing with multiple sources, all painting the same picture, and confirming each others figures. Logic is not on your side.
Note that Baltasar Garzon, spanish judge who sought to prosecute Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet, is calling for Bush to be tried for war crimes over Iraq.

I remember a conversation with a man from India, who said many young people in India were against Bush and the war in Iraq, but many more were glad he was doing something about the growing problem. (at the time). So I think while we hear the verbal minority, many people of the world know what we did was right.
Sorry, I don't buy into Trumph as world ambassador. The world has always been critical of the US from its inception. If you wish to run your life by how others feel about you and so you can be popular be my guest. But wether they like us or not they do respect the US. More so than countries who bow to others whims.

My professor in college taught me one thing I will never forget, "to always defend an idea,policy, or action with the same zeal one would use to condemn it; before one could formerly refute it". Believe me when I say, I have researched the "sanctions era" and tried to defend/support the U.S gov's position to my best ability. However, there is no evidence, support, or moral imperative that justifies these actions. It is one of the times where I can only feel shame for what my country has done.

They refused a reverse veto because that would have been worse. Saddam would have used oil revenue to exterminate millions of people. His goal (we now know this because of the invasion and captured documents) was to get the sanctions lifted so he could get his weapons, invade Iran, exterminate the kurds.

1. We supplied Saddam during the 80's in the Iran/Iraq war, the only real weapon systems he had were chemical/biological and granted this was an issue, he already had materials but could not get them past the extraction phase. And there was no nuclear program but we all know that right.....

The oil output for Iraq was not only the smallest out of all OPEC producers, but the money that was derived from oil went straight to the UN first as third party distributor (which in turn, paid the Kuwaiti's reparations, and then allowed remaining capital to be instituted in the "oil for food " program but heres the real kick....

When the U.N instituted the Oil for food program, just like the U.S sanctions each of the 5 security members had a veto power over which items Iraqi's could buy. That means you need all 5 members to agree on things Iraq wants to purchase with its left over oil money. And guess what, the U.S (and to some extent the U.K) were the leading members who vetoed (or put holds on) over 90% of all claims made by Iraq

One of the big problems I have with this video was that lack of mention of how Sunnis ruled Iraq under Saddam with an iron fist and the Shiites were 2nd class citizens. The way it plays out it say that Iraq was a "Paradise" for all but it wasn't anything like that all for most of them. Even the Kurds were badly treated (mustard gas anyone?). This Video is soo one-sided it makes me sick. Sure we can see the sins of the US and the UN but what about Saddam and his Bath party leadership?

Thankfully though Iraq is finally stabilizing and things are starting to look up after all the mistakes of the past 2 decades. Just kinda wished all that suffering had to happen to get to that point. The sanctions on Iraq were not the reason for such horrible conditions in Iraq. Saddam did not allow the money that the country was recieving to be used for the people of Iraq. Saddam kept building his palaces and became even wealthier. This problem will not happen now that Saddam is gone. The Iraqis are now rising up and fighting against the Islamic radicals.

Even then when we did it in Japan the death toll was only 143,000. These numbers are compiled by statusticians who poll a hundred houses and ask questions like "has your familiy had a death since the war began? then multiply it by the estimated number of families and come up with a total.

The figures provided are from professional organizations (many medical) in both US and UK. There are many I have not listed including figures from WHO (World Health Organization, Geneva). Soldiers also report on YT that practically every Iraq family has lost a loved one due to war/sanctions. You no longer need to use atomic bombs to cause death. Sanctions on food, medicine and water treatment chemicals is just as effective.

Many quote Saddam as killing millions yet no one questions this number when the court case found Saddam for the 1982 killing of only 148 people. But when numbers presented from multiple western sources list Iraq deaths, everybody cries foul. If there is one source, then you can question the figures, but we are dealing with multiple sources, all painting the same picture, and confirming each others figures. Logic is not on your side.
