@z4zum4n ooh, my bad. I was doing some research and I discovered that Apple uses an aluminosilicate glass, which is very similar to gorilla glass, a alkali-aluminosilicate glass. Though both glasses may be similar, numerous drop tests prove that the iPhone 4/4S suffer severely more damage than similar drops to a device using Corning's Gorilla Glass.

My Nexus S does not have Gorilla Glass and yet I have never broken the screen despite the numerous times i have severely dropped it. Most likely because the "plastic" around it absorbs the impacts and the glass IS recessed..... Hmmmm

im not entirely sold, there is a huge difference between applying pressure (like sitting/stepping on your phone) and delivering a blow (dropping your phone on concrete) i've seen people brag about the weight their glass can hold but in the real world it means nothing. That said, i'd like to see drops, not presses.

@2randomperson Well, thinner is all the rage these days. Personally, I don't think the industry has to create stronger gorilla glass, at least for the average consumer products. Able to handle 126lbs of force is more than enough for 99.99% of the potential client base.
