This is a great version of Polk Salad Annie. The best version of Polk Salad Annie i have ever heard is from Elvis's New Years Eve concert on the 31st of December 1976 in Pittburgh, totally awesome. Elvis the king forever.

This is a great version of Polk Salad Annie so is the version from the New Years Eve concert in Pittsburgh on the 31st of December 1976. Elvis is the greatest entertainer who ever lived. I've been an Elvis fan since i was 6 in 1971. Elvis the king forever.

His version of Polk Salad Annie from 74-77 is by far his best. Check out Elvis in Pittsburgh-Polk Salad Annie. That version is my favorite. The slower version he did in '70 is based on Tony Joe White's composition.

I don't think this is Elvis's usual bass player, Jerry Scheff. It's either Emory Gordy Jr or Duke Bardwell who both played for Elvis between 1973 - 1975, while Jerry was absent with family problems. I think Jerry was the best.

This is soundboard mono recording not proper recording it's not fair to judge the performance with other proper recordings.

Did you hear insane bass guitar at the end it is very up front in the mix. This song changed so much between 1970-77 some people like feb1970 master some like 1970 that's the way it is version others like fast 1972 MSG version this is 1975 version his health problems and drugs abuse not effect his preformance yet but footage from 1976 he looks litte heavyer in the video.

For me, the best ones are the Master (February 1970), the "ELVIS - THAT'S THE WAY IT IS" movie version (August 1970) and this one from the bootleg recording "AT FULL BLAST!" (Las Vegas, August 11, 1972, M/S).

Its not Pork its Polk and this is not by any means the best or wildest verison of this song as done by Elvis. By 1975 the rampant drug abuse had taken its toll on Elvis and he could not move on stage like he used to. Go to the TTWII movie filmed in 1970 and you will see Elvis at his best. Its sad how Elvis' live ended. But maybe it preserved his myth. But one thing is certain. He definitely was the best.

I saw Elvis and actually met him for a brief moment. One of his body guards knocked me down and Elvis Helped me up. We were in Charlotte and Elvis was staying at the Charlotte downtowner. It was at the same time Carter, Ford and Regan were in the primaries for President. He actually commented on stage that he felt he was running for President since all the big dogs were in town. Actually said i'm scared I'll wake up and be President. I found out later that Ronald Regan was backstage too.

Kinda hard to watch Elvis for all the pain caused him by his damned criminal manager. Could have been very different for Elvis as years progressed, but Parker ultimately stifled, and took horrible advantage of him. Elvis, kind and trusting soul, just couldn't over-ride. When he tried to make some of his own better decisions he was totally blocked. Circus act is what Parker knew and did best! Elvis was denied basically ALL power and control that he so richly earned and deserved.

It is sad that in the 1970s I remember the period as bittersweet with both Tragedy & Joy. Loss of my Loved Ones & Entertainers. It should have been enjoyed more but with the deaths of Janis Joplin to Elvis Presley made it impossible to be the most enjoyable decade in history. It was a real sad waste.
