Well what ever anybody says, it was an enjoyable lap to watch driven by somebody that knows their way around such a daunting circuit. What really impressed me was when the car got a little light on on more than one occassion, it was all controlled rather nicely, and, showed how good the vehicles geometry, bushing and damping is at speed. Also, it looked a controllable car when the odd bit of oversteer kicked in. I am a bit of a Corvette but its horses for courses.

GTR is a phenomenal track car but it lacks the craftsmanship of a Ferrari and unlike the Corvette it has more shit to break and fail. Bottom line, for the kind of Power, Handling and Braking the Z06 and ZR1 offer nothing comes close. And if you want fast luxury buy a CTS-V. America build good fucking cars. The Vette is a comfortable daily driver, a best on the track and unlike the GTR the maintenance costs waaaaaay less over time as cars with electronics coming out of the ass have more things that go wrong and thus cost more money in the long run. Vette equals simple, effective American engineering for dirt cheap in contrast to what competitors offer.

@69chevelle9 Because nobody has set an official lap in Zonda F or Lexus LFA because for example Zonda F costs almost 10 times more than Corvette, and who would risk to wreck it. Same thing with buggati veyron. It would do 7:10-7:15 if someone would actually take it to the limit.

Also I dont think the bugatti would ever do anything remotely close to 7:15 just because its so damn heavy and the ring about handling for the most part. Does anyone else think Turn10 got the Karussell wrong in Forza 3? In the game, the outside of the corner is raised above the level of the pavement before & after the Karussell and the banking on the inside of the corner is level with the pavement before and after the Karussell. But whenever I see footage of people taking on the Karussell, the banking on the inside seems to be below the normal level of the pavement and the outside of the corner seems to be level with the rest of the pavement. ???

@ snk4eva, as i said, its hard for me to belive, since american cars are not exactly know for their great handeling. but u might be right... but on the other hand, i made the ring in a 17 year old alfa 155 in 7:32 so it all dependes on the driver. hell sabine schmitz would made the ring in 6:50 in my moms pinto, and chuck norris wuold made it in -1minute on a skateboard :D

i know this is going to sound like some loser coment, but i know the ring, i have driven a lot of cars (in real life not in video games) and its hard for me to belive that the vette, is faster on the ring then pagani zonda, spiker, and GTR. forget, the pride and personal preferences,personaly i h8 zondas lambos and shit, but vette is not as fast as the other cars, and does not handel half as good. so something is really messed up with the lap times...

@69chevelle9 Because nobody has set an official lap in Zonda F or Lexus LFA because for example Zonda F costs almost 10 times more than Corvette, and who would risk to wreck it. Same thing with buggati veyron. It would do 7:10-7:15 if someone would actually take it to the limit.

Also I dont think the bugatti would ever do anything remotely close to 7:15 just because its so damn heavy and the ring about handling for the most part. I dont really know much about the LFA except it costs ALOT =P.

@derbigpr500 Yes the Zonda F has done an offical lap time its 7.24.4 on the Nurburgring & could of got better, Well thats a lie its actual company that has to agree for the people to do the actual lap times so the cost of the car doesnt matter, If that was the case why was the SLR, Enzo or Lexus LFA tested on Nurburgring. Price doesnt count when its racing for time laps its Corvette's fault for pricing it so low but i wouldnt see anyone buying a ZR1 for anymore than it is now.

The Ruf CTR Yellowbird did Nurburgring in 8:25, so this is ONE full minute faster! One can see the car is completely comfortable and tractable. Doesn't break a sweat.
This is obviously the practical engineering result of Corvette's years of wins at LeMans.

The actual BHP number on the Z is 648... GM downplays it. Additionally, Lingenfelter has gotten 900 BHP out of the new ZR-1 with just a cam and intake work.

The Ruf CTR did it in 8:25, but the RUF was a modified tuner, not a STOCK production car.
The 2009 ZR-1 is therefore 1 full minute faster.
