The reason why people complain (me aswell) is that he mostly only uses the blues scale or the minor pentatonic. His playing has become a "wah" only playing. The wah wah makes almost everything you play sound interesting. On top of that Kirks playing is sloppy in some parts (live). Dont get me wrong im a Metallica fan but this is what I think

no, this is one of the arguments where you can narrow it down to facts and prove one person right. kirk is sloppy, messes up live, hardly songwrites at all, and is hardly technical in any way shape or form. zakk i very clean, very rarely messes up live, songwrites A LOT and is good at it, and is very technical in many ways. you're disagreeing with facts here, you can't argue with cold facts.

Hammett is God. No need to defend his honor...anyone who knows a lick about metal or heavy rock knows how influential both he and Het have been. Who gives a damn if he kills the pentatonic scales? Its probably the most commonly used scale in all of guitar.. why is HE getting condemned for using it? Even within the pentatonic scale there are a thousand different things you can play. The man can play anything he wants, i think his skills speak for themselves.
