Hi - thanks for posting this. I wrote Joe Haymes' bio for IAJRC magazine years ago, so it is wonderful to see interest in his music.
The Headliners were a trio Joe picked up in Boston, consisting of Helen O'Brien and the Doucette brothers, Bob and Lou. Helen married Gordon Griffin, Joe's trumpet soloist, who soon went to the Benny Goodman band.
Joe was quite the talent scout, so his band was often raided or just taken over. I believe he led 5 or 6 bands in all before giving it up around 1941.
