Is there any way to use the F keys on this without having to press the Fn button - I find this extremely irritating, with windows shortcuts such as alt-f4 already being extremely idiotic and awkward... I can turn the bluetooth on by using the Fn key and my cell phone can detect my laptop bluetooth but wenever i send something from cell phone to laptop my cell phone shows 'Connection Failed'. There is no 'Pause/Break' button and with the latest version of the BIOS the eject button on the keyboard does not work. The only way to take optical media out is by clicking Eject on the drive menu in Windows explorer. Anyway good machine especially the full HD display version.

I have a Studio 1555 & it crashed after 4 weeks had to have new Mother BoardAfter repair & 1 hour later there is no sound. Error message says PC has no audio driver is installed. The Op system in Windows 7 . - I paid extra for Creative SoundBlaster Xfi MB Software Suite. Also the Internet connection has gone down (my other PC connects - it is the laptop). I am going nuts!! Will never buy Dell again. Also the telephone support is not open at weekends so will have to wait till Monday.

if u already purchased it with a core 2 duo cpu chances are you can upgrade to i7 mobile processor.. but it would be very costly. but best to make sure u contract tell tech support and check before doing anything.

note that if u are planing to do this urself you would void your warranty

I have a matt finish laptop and it shows just as many finger prints, so don't let the shiny one bother you. Also, about the battery, mines is the 9 volt and yes it does stick out. Just ordered a new laptop and opted for the 6 volt instead.

the dell studio 15 has a slot on the side for SD card only.. i have this problem as well because i have a sony cameria and it only uses mini memory sticks.

u have to either use a usb multi card reader or some other form tranfer methods

the dell 1555 has a sd memory card slot on the right side, although you will need a card reader for the memory stick pro duo or anything small like that. also the glossy finish is an optional addon that adds to the price overall. and yes there is scrolling on the right side going up/down and the bottom left to right. also if you place your finger on the top of the touchpad as well as scroll on the right scroll bar you can zoom in and out on just about any screen/window. i own one =]

they do have scrolling on the mousepad and pinch zoom but just no lines! the hor. scroll is just above the clickers ??? and the vert scroller is on the right of the pad, on the inside. the pinch zoom is just pinch, go from the two opposite corners and drag your fingers so that they meet. THESE HAVE BLUETOOTH!?

well 15" laptop isnt that bad but its a good value for buck when it comes to alot of different uses.

i have used a few different laptop and in terms of style its top notch.

graphics and grunt.. definity has grunt in terms of graphics..

like i said its very mutlimedia use and still can play decent games that is coming out. also with a 15" still can watch movies with a decent screen.

Hi Skii65, liked your review of the new Studio 1555, I have orderd the 1555 and am still waiting, I have been a bit nervous about my order though related to all the bad reviews on the previous 1535/1537 with the touch controls and cd eject problems,etc. It looks like they changed it, but there is one pic on the dell site that still shows it. I tried out an oler model in store and keyboard seemed kind of mushy, wondering if new one is more solid? You could actually press down where cd is.

What's your opinion about the screen? I have read much about this screen random problems (too many reflections as it's too dark, blueish colour, small angle and/or dark areas), but it seems to happen only with certain screen brands (SEC, I think. in refer to the screen i think its a regional thing.. and depends on manufacture. coz i know that dell AU gets there parts from malyasia. 

to be honest im not sure where how to define it i mean it is. its a decent resolution i dont have any of the reflection issue.
