  • GREATEST PIANIST EVER!!!

  • Amazing interpretation. This and Lazar Berman's performances are my favorite, but I would place this one slightly ahead because of the overall listening experience. The clarity in Cziffra's playing never ceases to amazes me.

But I somehow don't like looking at Cziffra's fingers.

  • one of the only musicians in history that understood true timing that just pulls at your heart, combined with limitless imagination creativity and limitless command of the instrument

  • this sounds jazzy to me.... is that strange?

  • @chutdigadut cause its old...

  • What's up with all the extra notes and arpeggios? He managed to turn Lizst into Richard Claiderman... geez, awful, just awful....

  • @fernandofariajunior Expert on Richard Claiderman are you?

OK, but you miss spelled Liszt.

  • @only1is He also spelt "CLAYDERMAN" wrong :O

    The sucker!! XD

  • @shilloshillos have you watched the video before commenting ? many people play it faster, and this isnt even one of the extremely technically demanding transcendental etudes.

unlike others, he maintains his goal rather than showing his technical capabilities

  • @shilloshillos you do realize yuo are talking about cziffra right? if anyone sucks its you

  • @MrMoonme No need to get personal mr. moonyou.

  • @shilloshillos Do you know something about music or are you just stupid? This is the best performance of Liszt's Etude, and it's very expresive. You SUCK!!

  • @darandar17 You obviously don't have a mind of your own and whatever Cziffra plays you accept unconditionally. This is the poorest performance of this piece ever. He applies the wrong expression to this piece, and he has done it before in countless other pieces. He is all fluff and technique but he lacks depth and everyone is scared to admit that something is seriously wrong with his playing. Don't fear, admit it, there were, there are and there will be much better pianists than Cziffra.

  • @shilloshillos

    Noted.

This performance has its perks. Cziffra loved to show off, but unlike more modern "show-offs", Cziffra had the unique ability to take anything and turn it into an amazing piece of music. Take his interpretation of Islamey for example. Here, he adds several of his own twists to the piece as well as offering a different musical interpretation to the piece.

There is no 1 surefire way to perform a piece. Innovation in music is the mark of a true musician.

  • HOLY FOTHER OF MUCK!!! He even makes the staccato part flow.

  • 2.10!!! :|:|:|:|

  • What emotions are being expressed in this piece? Anger? Pain? Frustration? Regret/Sorrow?

  • I've found the best interpritation!

  • THE BEEEEST!

  • Grande ...e speciale...Cziffra...

    Grande emozione ....

    Bravissimo....peccato che non c'è più....

  • wow he changed the ending

  • best performance of this etude ever

  • my favorite liszt etude :) cziffra does it justice.

  • This improvisation style is truly amazing. What a true musician he was !!

  • ..almost..transcendental = P

Or is that what you were getting at? ; )

  • Cziffra = Liszt

    Rubinstein = Chopin

    Gould = Bach

  • @asdlkfjghklawuieg Wilhelm Kempff = Beethoven

  • Is this simply a different version or did he ad lib a little bit? I liked what he did with the middle section.

  • cosa dire......???????

  • Cziffra is LISZT!!!!

  • yeah man!

  • @andlux74 Man, I think your right on the money!!! When Cziffra first emerged on the music scene he was hailed as the reincarnation of Liszt Ferenc. I truly believe this is the closest we will ever get to what Liszt himself played like......

  • No, Cziffra is better than Liszt... His interpretations cannot be outmatched!

  • bin quasiment toutes, spécialement les études, et toi pourquoi aimes-tu cziffra?

  • Bravo,Gyorgy,c'est toi le meilleur!Tu me manques!

  • :O holy body of christ

  • why do you think so?

  • par la comparaison avec d'autres pianistes.

  • which piece do you think he plays good?

    =)

  • sans aucun doute le meilleur interprète de cette étude

  • I think it's too slow... hardly Allegro Agitato, which is what Liszt wrote - 'Appassionata' is Busoni's title remember.

  • O_O Wow...just beautiful!

  • hé hé :-)

  • My favorite intepretation of Liszt's Trancendental Etude No. 10 in F minor, S. 139 'Appassionata'

  • I feel I want to cry. The level of expressivity is....INSANE. The best intrepretation ever.

  • Is this harder than Jeux D'eau?

  • these etudes are transcendental.. which would mean that it is beyond any other etude.. at least from his time.. so maybe in his (Liszt) consideration.. he put these as his most complex and beautiful pieces that he wrote. but thats all i know..

  • George Cziffra was known as the velvet hand in the Iron Glove?...in a class of his own.

  • AMAZING

  • This is the first of many versions of this piece

I've heard on Youtube...and it is the only one

that treats this not as a bunch of fabulously

challenging notes to steam through, but rather

as a piece of music full of human expression.

  • His technique is mind-blowing.

  • Good one.

In fact, his whole TransEtude set is great. The best I've ever heard, at least.

  • Suppeeerrrr!!! I'm lovin' it!

  • Liszt came alive in Gyorgy Ciffra... no question.

  • liszt kicks cziffra's ass.. no question.... (i mean, compare shlomo mintz with paganini ..xD lol paganini wins, even if you haven't heard a recording of him, you can know it based on his bio)

  • fantastic!!!!

  • Amazing!!! Nobody plays Liszt better than Cziffra.

  • muy bueno!

  • Thank you for the wonderful post!! It's so enjoyable.
