I don't remember a lot on 911 cuz I was like 4 but over the years, as I learned about it and seen thousands of videos, u can feel like u were actually there. The scene of people crying and jumping out of buildings makes u feel like u were in manhattan. I get sick from watching people jumping out of buildings. Its too heart breaking, but we must never forget this day no matter if u want to wish it never happened. We have to teach our next generation Wat happened on this cruel, painful, sick, and
Dan how old were you then? bout 13 i guess. i remember how nice & helpful ppl were for long time after 911. ppl were walking around in a stunned silence. It was hard to return to our lives so distracted by being a witess to real evil & our own emotions.
It's very thoughtful of you to bring up this subject and what happened in 2001. But that is not an excuse to wear an ugly shirt and an outdated tie from 2001. If you're a survivor, act like one and don't get stuck in time! Just sayin'...
@DouglasUrantia:I don't know where you are but many of the muslim leaders in the UK did speak out against the actions of the terrorists from 9/11 and against the July 7 Bombings in London. I remember of the visitors I had after the bombings whilst I laid in my hospital bed it was the Imams of mosques from the different sects coming to apologise to me, for the actions of 4 "muslims" who weren't living out the true nature of Islam.
I remember watching this on the news right before heading into class, but it didnt affect me that much, i just remember that i was more worried about my exams than anything else. Recently i watched a documentary on it from the firefighters point of view, and honestly, i was tearing up. I dont know why, but looking at this terrible event from a more mature perspective, it really got me, those people doing everyday things, working in their cubicles, just living, all of them silenced in a second.
Good video Dan. Thanks for taking the time to post a remembrance. As to the naysayers here, don't worry about them. They're undoubtedly young. And sometimes you run across young people that haven't learned to reflect on life yet. Oh, and it rarely hurts to "dress up."
This day isn't about arguing about what happened, it's about coming together to remember innocent people who were killed in the effect of 9/11. Remember that not only people in the Twin Towers were killed, but people in The Pentagon, the passengers of the planes that were hijacked, and some of the people of the NYC Police, Fire, and Medical teams.
@DouglasUrantia Pipe down. You're obviously too ignorant to realise that it wasn't regular Muslims who committed the attacks, it was a small group who had been radicalised. It's like saying that Protestants were at war with all Catholics because of what the IRA did. Moron. It must be so hard to be a regular, decent Muslim with people like you in existence.
@cctps ....don't you call me a moron. I will NOT pipe down. Muslims are trapped in a political cult they call a religion...so you can just stfu. If muslims did not approve of 911, we have YET to hear from them in any meaningful numbers. I am obviously telling the truth but you would rather people not hear it........
@DouglasUrantia Are you kidding me? Please don't try to rant about something you obviously know nothing about. After 9/11, countless Muslim Imams spoke out against 9/11, and here in the UK and in the US there have even been peaceful marches to highlight that these evil terrorists were not true Muslims. What more do you want the Muslim world to do? It is not for them to apologise for the actions of those who were not truly Muslim.
Some of these comments are upsetting me, I mean here I am. A Canadian citizen who lives so far away, but even I feel the overwhelming sense of mourning for the people we lost too early. This was a defining moment in my history growing up, I hope that people do take a moment, as for the people who are posting ignorant comments, please keep them to yourselves. Imagine if you knew someone in those towers and read those comments...
@TheNychthemeronThing I removed the comment cuz I said "in NYC" When I should've said in the "US", cuz it wasn't just NYC that was struck... Hah, but still, it was a tragedy. Juuuust like Pearl Harbor. Annnnd it is supposedly America's 'bloodiest day' I think the innocent people who died that day, deserve to be honored
@heysuciuhey eh. I personally think every single person should be "honored" regardless of what time of the year it is and rather they are living or dead and regardless of what job they had...
@TheNychthemeronThing Well I respect you opinion, and I understand what your saying, but I still feel deep sadness for this event! I think the memorial deff should be built, becuase it was a terrorist attack of two iconic buildings in the US. And never before has a terrorist attack happen like that before in the US(?) (:
wah wah wah, you are stupid...your shirt/tie, and topless videos are sooooo full of self pretense, BIG Turn Off. Overcompensating...??? Do you ask people if they wanna use your cell phone...???
wah wah wah, you are stupid...your shirt/tie, and topless videos are sooooo full of self pretense, BIG Turn Off. Overcompensating...??? Do you ask people if they wanna use your cell phone...???
I don't remember that day being different, because to me it was just another school day that we were being pulled out of for some mysterious reason.
I don't know how or if I reacted, and I don't know if my parents even talked about it. I think the school didn't announce anything, because why startle and scare a bunch of 3 to 5 year olds?
It was such a horrible tragedy.... But we'll always remember the brave people who died and helped...
@TheMuffinChef i was in preschool, so honestly I don't remember and therefore don't have many feelings of sorrow for that day. As a result, I am kind of apathetic. It isn't that I don't care, it's that I just don't know.
I am kind of sick of 9/11. Yes Its an important event in history and all but it seems like the media is dragging it on. If it were about 20 years later, then i would like to remember the day. not only 10 years. bleh current history.
@xAinonaix: Because it was the first ever attack on US soil? That caused somewhere around 3000 deaths of innocent lives? You go and find a family affected by 9/11, tell them you are sick of it, and you'd "like to remember it 20 years later, not 10". And why comment on this video, if you have nothing but stagnant comments to write? A significant amount of people were affected by this.
how disrespectful sad and shallow some of you seam... the person who said well we should just move on, tell that to some kid who lost his father, We as a nation need to remember 9-11 for many reasons. I know today I am helping out at a youth center. An I am calling every one i know an tell them I love them.
@texasdominic I think all acts of terrorism need to be remembered. I live in northern ireland and for over 40 years people here have been killed by the IRA in gun and bomb attacks, I hope that maybe the USA can learn from the people here in Ulster, and while not forgetting those that died, move on in their lives, anger and hatred will only consume those left behind. The 10th anniversary marks a new chapter, one for healing. All the best.
Still... i think it's unfair that the whole world mourns 9/11 just because of the media, while all the Iraqis killed in the war are forgotten because everyone spends all their time fawning over the soldiers that killed them.
I'm not going to rehash the past every single year on September 11th. Yes, it happened. Yes, it was a tragedy. Yes, thousands of innocent people lost their lives. I understand the magnitude of the entire situation and I'm sorry for it all. But, there's no point for me to mourn over this day. I can't do anything to change it or make it better. I've accepted it and I can't cry over it anymore because I need to move on with my life and think about the future. I'm not going to live in the past.
@SereneFire88 It's not about mourning, it's about remembering. Take a lesson from it if you can find one... you don't need to be down about it at all :)
@iflyslide not really. Just think what hitler did during WWII. That was way worse than 9/11. People didn't quiet forget about that but no one mentions it that much. Just like with 9/11, sure remember what happened that day but theres no need to mourn, feel sad or sorry or anything or anyone. Why have a negative feeling?
Sure if you lost someone cause of that tragedy, remember but if not, ignore it. I can say that tragedy did affect me whatsoever.
@Xshyboi16X You Must B A young One then. What Hilter Did & What Happen On 9/11 Changed The World. @Xshyboi16X: You're a disrespectful piece of crap. It's a simple thing called RESPECT FOR LIFE. Go to any European country that Germany annexed, and there will be a gathering, event, whatever, to pay tribute. When an event happens closer to home, it hits harder. No need to mourn for the loss of life? Tell that to kids who list their parents, mothers and fathers who lost their children, spouses who lost each other, etc.
@GDProphetXVII Yeah they are, but really its not a secret, just can't be proven, that the government did this to invade another country, it wasn't terrorists.
As a New Yorker, I speak for all of us when I say we're just as confused as to why it happened too. Just don't forget all the good things & good people: When we die, the good thing's all we're gonna remember.
Sorry, I'll be serious. What saddens me is when I look back to the previous years I paused to remember that I had to reach to remember the idea that so many died in those attacks. Only within recent years had I taken the time to really think about the people that died in the Towers, the Pentagon and on Flight 93.
Reflected on this yesterday and today. Sent some notes to some families. I think tomorrow should be different. A day of honoring them through living. It's what they all would want. Nice tie! :)
