I think thrashers care more about image than glam rockers do. Every criticism I've ever heard from people who don't like glam has to do with the way they dress. WHO GIVES A FUCK? I don't really like the way they dress either but music is music and it's meant to be enjoyed because of how it SOUNDS. Glam metal musicians are fucking great at writing ass kicking hard rocking music. Their dress style was secondary to the music.

The case that glam metal is good is because it sounds fucking good. The drums are configured to have the clearest, purest, most awesome sound in the world. The guitars are crisp and metallic, and the vocals are soaring, epic, and melodic. If you don't agree then your taste sucks.

The fact that glam bands had such amazing SOUND is why I consider it to be such awesome and terrific music. As far as technical musical ability, glam guitarists could fucking shred your face off. @jostopholees I'll grant you that as a whole thrash guitarists are better, but you have to admit that there are tons of amazing glam metal guitarists. Also it seems you're limiting musical ability to technical finger skill. What makes a great guitar solo is not how hard it is to play but how good it sounds. For example a lot of Kerry King's solos sound like shit, because it's just sloppy shredding, whereas a solo by Ratt or Def Leppard sounds great.

The L.A bands and their Rock n Roll was suited to the general public, men, women and kids. While it seems that Thrash was exclusive only to the angry boys that couldn't pick-up.

But I have to agree with ultrachasersfan that while thrash here may sound more aggressive, it has a boring image and I just can't seem to understand what people find appealing about it. Also, like I said before, speed/thrash outside of America was different with the looks. Glam is literally 80's American Rock n Roll. Songs like Anthrax's 'Madhouse' is closer to Rock n Roll than Trash, just listen too it. The Trash bands basically ripped off the British (nwobhm) and L.A bands of the late 70's/early 80's and made it 'Xtreame' and 'Hardcore...they call it Trash, I call it gay. Yeah, Slayer's debut basically sounded like a meaner Saxon, but thrash has grown so much since then. More technical bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, Coroner, Voivod, and Artillery. Also, bands such as Kreator, Celtic Frost, and later Slayer implemented outside influences, which would soon spawn death metal.

Glam solos just shred through aeolian and minor pentatonic scales trying to play like Eddie Van Halen. Thrash metal solos use techniques laid down by greats such as Bach, Django, Black Sabbath. Using scales such as phrygian (sometimes phrygian dominant) and using the b5 (the devils note.) Learn some music theory.

The case that glam metal is good is because it sounds fucking good. The drums are configured to have the clearest, purest, most awesome sound in the world. Also it seems you're limiting musical ability to technical finger skill. What makes a great guitar solo is not how hard it is to play but how good it sounds. For example a lot of Kerry King's solos sound like shit, because it's just sloppy shredding, whereas a solo by Ratt or Def Leppard sounds great.

The L.A bands and their Rock n Roll was suited to the general public, men, women and kids. While it seems that Thrash was exclusive only to the angry boys that couldn't pick-up.
In general, those who played Thrash music had no style, this is not an opinion, it is the reality.

Also, like I said before, speed/thrash outside of America was different with the looks. Glam is literally 80's American Rock n Roll. Songs like Anthrax's 'Madhouse' is closer to Rock n Roll than Trash, just listen too it. The Trash bands basically ripped off the British (nwobhm) and L.A bands of the late 70's/early 80's and made it 'Xtreame' and 'Hardcore...they call it Trash, I call it gay. Yeah, Slayer's debut basically sounded like a meaner Saxon, but thrash has grown so much since then. More technical bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, Coroner, Voivod, and Artillery. Also, bands such as Kreator, Celtic Frost, and later Slayer implemented outside influences, which would soon spawn death metal.

Glam solos just shred through aeolian and minor pentatonic scales trying to play like Eddie Van Halen. Thrash metal solos use techniques laid down by greats such as Bach, Django, Black Sabbath. Using scales such as phrygian (sometimes phrygian dominant) and using the b5 (the devils note.) Learn some music theory.

Thats right and too much partying is what led to glams downfall by the end of the eightys but Thrash groups like Metallica and Megadeth continued on and are still on top to this day.

I love both, but prefer Glam to Thrash. Instrumentally, there are many more accomplished guitarists in glam/hair metal than Thrash. Every hair band, had a song about fuckin' a woman, and thats what the mainstream let people hear, because, sex sells. Lmao, always has, popular music has always been about fucking. But thats not all they wrote about. If you bought, (or stole) entire albums, its not all about the same shit. just the hits, cause thats what was mainstream. Research it, you'll see. ;)

I mean just look at how crazy and generic it was all getting. not to mention the horrible outdated 80s reverb production. and how the lyrics were always about the same fuckin shit. same old songs. someone told me to check out pretty boy floyd and I almost threw up
Grunge was new, it was fresh and modern, and people were probably just embracing something new after what, 10 years of hairy rock.Thrash was strong in 90s

@80sSlashers Uhmm, Some info, Lmao, Kirk Hammet of Metallica, has been put to shame, by Reb Beach from Winger, which imo, was one of the worst hair bands from the 80s. Hair/glam/cock rock/sleaze/whatever, its all the same, Had extremely talented singers, guitarists, and bassists. Some pretty damn good drummers too. When you find a bassist better than Mr. Bigs Billy Sheehan, tell me. And don't say Cliff Burton. Because you would be sadly mistaken. xD
